That evening, He Yanzhi returned to the courtyard house, where the afterglow of the setting sun bathed the courtyard walls in a warm gold.
He greeted Qin Yue and Guan Yuanxiu before turning back to the east wing.
He pushed open the door, took off his military cap, and saw Guan Wenru fixing her hair in front of the mirror. She was wearing a light beige trench coat today, which made her look particularly neat and tidy.
She didn't work overtime today, and He Yanzhi's expression softened. "Not busy today?"
"Not busy." Guan Wenru turned around and saw him, a smile appearing on her face. "You're back just in time. It's rare that I don't have to work overtime today. All the third wheels are at school. The movie 'Life' has just been released at the cinema. I heard it's good. Shall we go see a movie?"
He Yanzhi wished he could be with her all the time, so naturally he wouldn't refuse, "Okay."
Guan Wenru then stood up and naturally walked forward, intending to take his briefcase from him.

He Yanzhi's face instantly darkened, and a surge of anger, feeling defiled and offended, welled up in his heart.
He looked up and met Guan Wenru's questioning gaze. Without the slightest hesitation or concealment, he spoke directly, his tone filled with disgust and frankness, "Su Qing accidentally put it there."
He pulled Guan Wenru down to sit and recounted in detail how Su Qing had frequently come to the division headquarters to complain to him in the past few days, how she offered to help him today, how he refused and suggested that she go for an interview at her company, how Su Qing almost fainted and fell, leaving this lip print, how he sternly pushed her away and had the guards take her away, and so on.
Guan Wenru listened quietly, her face showing little change in expression, only her fingers tapping lightly on the table.
After He Yanzhi finished speaking, she raised an eyebrow and calmly confirmed, "The Su Qing you mentioned... is that the woman who, during the years I was in a coma, would occasionally try to come to my house under the guise of a colleague to 'help' take care of the children, but you always turned her away?"
“It’s her.” He Yanzhi nodded without hesitation. When he mentioned Su Qing, his tone was very cold. “I have never given her any false impressions. I never did before, and it’s even less likely now.”
Men are actually quite perceptive; they can sense whether a woman has ulterior motives or wants to do something when she approaches them.
He could naturally sense that Su Qing's attitude towards him was unusual.
So for those few years he refused her help and kept his distance from her, just so his wife wouldn't misunderstand.
After hearing He Yanzhi's words, Guan Wenru's lips curled into a knowing yet slightly cold smile. "Alright, I understand."
She reached out and gently brushed her hand over the spot where the lipstick had been, as if to brush away some dust, and said softly, "Since she is indeed having difficulties in life and has come to you for help, we will help her with this."
He Yanzhi looked at her, his face showing no surprise, but instead he raised an eyebrow slightly.
A moment later, he reached out and lifted her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye. His deep eyes held a hint of amusement and inquiry. “You trust me that much? Aren’t you afraid I’ll say one thing and do another? After all, they’ve delivered the ‘evidence’ right under your nose.”
Upon hearing this, Guan Wenru burst out laughing, as if she had heard something amusing.
She raised her hand and placed it on his hand that was pinching her chin, her eyes clear and determined. "Can you?"
Without a second thought, He Yanzhi replied decisively, "Of course not!"
Guan Wenru's smile softened, and her voice was very soft, "He Yanzhi, we've been through so much together, from when I woke up, to watching the children grow up, to walking side by side to this day... My trust in you surpasses my trust in myself. How could I doubt you because of this little trick left behind by an outsider?"
As she spoke, she helped him take off his jacket with the lipstick mark on it, then casually tossed it into the laundry basket beside him, her movements natural and fluid.
Seeing her unreserved actions and hearing her words of unreserved trust, the gloom brought on by Su Qing instantly dissipated in He Yanzhi's heart, replaced by a surge of warmth and indescribable emotion.
He tightened his grip on her chin slightly, leaned down, and kissed her deeply.

The next day
Guan Wenru promptly and decisively arranged a meeting with Su Qing.
In her spacious and bright office, she warmly received the somewhat uneasy Su Qing.
Guan Wenru smiled politely and spoke gently, “Comrade Su Qing, Yan Zhi mentioned your situation to me yesterday. It’s really not easy for you, a woman raising two children alone. Our Ruyi Group has always been very willing to provide a platform for comrades who need opportunities.”
She pushed an appointment letter in front of Su Qing.
