Chapter 47 Competition

On horseback, he leaned towards Guan Wenru, draping his general's coat over her shoulders. "Since you're going to ride a horse, why don't you wear more clothes? It's cold here, don't catch a cold."

In fact, Guan Wenru didn't feel cold at all.

She appeared to be dressed lightly, but she was actually wearing a down jacket under her cotton-padded coat.

It's fair to say that no one present was dressed as warmly as she was.

However, when He Yanzhi handed her the military overcoat, she noticed a fleeting look of jealousy in Gu Siyu's eyes.

Instead of returning the military coat to He Yanzhi, she wore it shyly, saying, "I'm actually not cold."

Seeing He Yanzhi personally drape a coat over Guan Wenru, Gu Siyu felt a pang of pain in her heart.

She pursed her lips, not wanting to see any more interaction between He Yanzhi and Guan Wenru, and quickly interrupted, "Wenru, you haven't answered me yet. Can I have a match with you?"

Gu Siyu is determined to compete with her.

Guan Wenru smiled and said, "Okay, how do you want to compete?"

Gu Siyu pointed straight ahead, "Let's start from here and end at those two parallel trees. Whoever gets back here first wins, okay?"

The method of the competition was not difficult. As the battalion commander of the cavalry regiment, she took the initiative to propose such a simple competition. In the eyes of Kuresh and others, she would only think that she was considerate and was taking care of the newcomer Guan Wenru.

Guan Wenru didn't say anything, just nodded with a smile, "Okay."

After all the parties agreed, Kuresh quickly had everyone else take their positions. To ensure safety, he sent two cavalrymen to guard the two trees in case anything went wrong.

Xiahenazi and another cavalryman volunteered to guard the center.

Gu Siyu originally wanted He Yanzhi to be the referee, but He Yanzhi said, "I have to avoid suspicion."

These two words made Gu Siyu's eyes darken again.

Avoiding suspicion...does that mean he considers Guan Wenru his lover?

Are they serious about getting married?

No one cared what Gu Siyu was thinking. Since He Yanzhi couldn't be the referee, the referee naturally became the cavalry regiment commander, Kureshi.

After Kuresh shouted "Start!", Guan Wenru spurred the horse and swung his cotton hat and He Yanzhi's military overcoat in a graceful arc.

He Yanzhi reached out and took it. He looked at the figure on the horse, which stretched out like an eagle. The girl's back as she rode at full speed was like a scimitar being drawn from its sheath. Her waistline followed the undulating curve of the horse's back, and even the trajectory of her hair resonated perfectly with the undulation of the horse's mane.

He had to admit that he was amazed and couldn't take his eyes off her for a moment.

No wonder Xiahenazi praised her; her riding posture and technique are really good.

Gu Siyu is no less impressive; after all, she is a battalion commander in a cavalry regiment.

She was in the lead for a moment, then turned her head slightly to look at Guan Wenru's slender figure, a mocking sneer appearing on her lips.

How dare a capitalist's daughter compare herself to her?

She deliberately let the horse's head lead half a body length ahead at the start, and the white mist exhaled by the chestnut warhorse almost hit Guan Wenru's cheek.

Seeing this, Xiahenazi's eyes darkened. Gu Siyu clearly wanted to embarrass Guan Wenru.

In the first half of the race, Gu Siyu was in the lead. When she broke off a branch and returned, Guan Wenru had just raised her hand to break off a branch.

After Guan Wenru received the branch, her eyes narrowed, and she instantly changed her posture. No one knew what she did, but the horse beneath her galloped forward.

In less than five seconds, she caught up with Gu Siyu.

Gu Siyu's pupils suddenly contracted.

I never expected Guan Wenru to be able to catch up.

She was the best female rider in the cavalry regiment, even Xiahenazi couldn't compare to her. Where did Guan Wenru learn her skills? She's so amazing!

Gu Siyu started to panic. She gritted her teeth and dug her nails deep into her palms.

Perhaps it was jealousy at play, but she deliberately let the riding whip brush past Guan Wenru's ear.

However... the expected panic did not occur, and Guan Wenru continued to move forward steadily.

With the finish line fast approaching, she was still at least half a meter behind Guan Wenru.

She can't lose!

The thought flashed through Gu Siyu's mind, and her beautiful face twisted slightly.

She suddenly stabbed the horse hard into its old wound with the spur, and amidst the beast's shrill neigh, the bloodied hoof kicked out to the left.

Guan Wenru hadn't expected this turn of events; the horse beneath her went out of control and threw her off.

"Watch out!" He Yanzhi's roar tore through the sky. Dozens of meters away, his face turned pale, and he hurriedly spurred his horse forward.

But he was too far away to catch Guan Wenru in time.

Kuresh and Xiahenazi were also frightened.

They kept rushing forward.

But it's too far away.

But the culprit, Gu Siyu, seemed more frightened than anyone else, shouting, "Wenru, grab me!"

She lunged forward while shouting.

Just as Guan Wenru was about to fall off the horse, she successfully grabbed Guan Wenru's waist with both hands.

The two rolled onto the snow together, narrowly avoiding the horse's hooves.

The two rolled around in the snow several times, and Gu Siyu's face was even scratched by a tree branch by the roadside.

Guan Wenru, whom she was protecting, was unharmed.

He Yanzhi had already rushed over. He quickly pulled on the reins and dismounted. "Don't move yet. Is anyone in severe pain?"

He was afraid they might break their bones.

Guan Wenru shook her head and forcefully pushed Gu Siyu away.

He Yanzhi reached out his hands and helped her up.

He looked her up and down. "Are you really alright?"

"It's really nothing."

Gu Siyu was still sitting on the ground. She thought that after He Yanzhi pulled Guan Wenru up, he would attack her next.

But he simply turned to look at her and asked, "How about you? Are you alright?"

Gu Siyu's nails dug deep into her palms as she forced out a sob, "Yanzhi, I'm so sorry, I... I think I accidentally touched the old wound on the horse's back, causing it to lose control and making Wenru fall. I'm really sorry."
