Chapter 6 He Yan's Doubts

After Guan Wenru and Guan Hongqi helped Grandpa He and Grandma He back to the neighboring courtyard, the siblings returned to the Han family home.

The two went straight upstairs to move the dowry.

Guan Wenru told Guan Hongqi to wait outside the door while she went inside and moved several boxes out of the room before opening the door to let Guan Hongqi in to carry things.

Guan Hongqi was dumbfounded when he entered the room.

How come he remembers... that Han Haoxian's room has a coffee table and a sofa?

Now it's completely empty.

However, now is not the time to dwell on these details, so Guan Hongqi refused Guan Wenru's help.

He carried box after box of dowry out on his own.

A large pickup truck was already waiting outside the Han family's courtyard.

After he loaded the things into the car, Lin Jiaman and Han Haoxian rushed out, yelling, "How could you take our things away?"

Guan Wenru raised an eyebrow. "The things we moved down are all here. Why don't you take a good look at them?"

Guan Wenru's dowry was valuable, but it contained almost no large items.

Lin Jiaman and Han Haoxian didn't stand on ceremony; they got into the car and opened the suitcase to check.

But there was nothing from their family in the box.

Han Haoxian felt like he was seeing a ghost. He frowned and stared at Guan Wenru. "Where are my rosewood sofa and coffee table?"

Guan Wenru found it amusing. "Are you asking me? Do you want me to remind you where I slept last night?"

And do you really think that Hongqi and I can quietly move your things out of your room?

Besides, would the Guan family ever covet someone else's property?

Han Haoxian gritted his teeth, knowing that Guan Wenru looked down on their family's meager assets.

But who else could he suspect besides the siblings?

Grandpa Han didn't want them to embarrass themselves, so he quickly called them inside.

Guan Hongqi asked curiously, "Sister, when I took you upstairs yesterday, I think I saw that there was indeed a nice sofa and coffee table in his room. Why are they gone?"

Guan Wenru blinked. "Then who knows?"

Guan Hongqi had always believed his sister's words since he was a child, and he really thought that his sister didn't know.

He then remembered something, looked around to make sure no one was there, and then lowered his voice to continue, "Sis, you're amazing! How did you know that scumbag Han Haoxian was going to see a woman?"

Guan Wenru raised an eyebrow. "I guessed. The person you hired did a good job. Remember to give them some extra benefits later."

Guan Hongqi chuckled, "Sister, you can rest assured about my work. The two people I found are my classmates. They've covered their faces up so Han Haoxian won't recognize them."

His sister came into his room last night, shook him awake, and then hurriedly talked to him for a long time.

His sister actually told him to find two men, dress them in women's clothing and hats, put on lipstick, and kiss Han Haoxian's face. She also told him to keep Han Haoxian from coming back early in the morning.

Moreover, his sister specifically instructed him to go upstairs to look for someone early in the morning and to deliberately make a big commotion.

The entire Han family needs to know that the bride is missing.

Everything was done according to his sister's arrangements, which is why this scene happened this morning.

Guan Hongqi still didn't understand some things, so he frowned. "Sister, once we found out Han Haoxian wasn't a good man, we could have just turned around and left. Why did you have to deliberately put on this show? You're not worried about getting married, so why are you scheming against He Yanzhi?"

Guan Wenru patted his arm, "The world is changing. I have to get married, and I have to marry someone who can help our family."

"?" Guan Hongqi didn't understand. "Why? And Grandma is really something, why is she in such a hurry for you to get married? You're only 20 years old."

At this point, he suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, sis, that He Yanzhi seems to be the same age as Han Haoxian, 24, right? He's 4 years older than you! They're both old men! He's not good enough for you!"

"Or... let's not marry him. Nothing happened last night anyway."

Guan Wenru's lips twitched. "He's only 24! How can he be an old man?"

Guan Wenru didn't want to explain too much to Guan Hongqi, because it would be endless and she would have to use one lie after another to cover it up.

She didn't want it to be like this.

He simply stopped explaining and announced, "Hongqi, go home and get ready to join the army."

"!" Guan Hongqi's face changed drastically, staring at Guan Wenru in shock. "Sister, what are you saying? I'm going to go to university, I don't want to be a soldier, I don't want to be a soldier, being a soldier is too hard!"

Guan Wenru raised her hand and slapped his forehead. "You won't be able to go to university."

The school is about to close completely.

It really does prove the saying: "Left foot in Tsinghua, right foot in Peking University, both feet slip and you end up back in the countryside."

If Guan Hongqi hadn't joined the army, he would definitely have been sent to a farm for reform through labor, given that he was already 16 years old.

She had to force Guan Hongqi to join the army before June arrived.

While the siblings chatted and laughed downstairs, He Yanzhi, standing in his room, had a solemn expression.

His dark eyes were fixed on Guan Wenru.

If it were an ordinary woman, waking up on the second day of her marriage to find herself in a stranger's bed, she would probably be crying and screaming, unable to accept it.

Guan Wenru seemed very calm; she not only promptly canceled the marriage with the Han family.

She was chatting and laughing with her younger brother, and didn't look like a bride who had been abandoned on her wedding night at all.

What happened this morning seems more like a premeditated scheme.

Thinking of this, He Yanzhi narrowed his eyes, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Guan Wenru, in this morning's drama, were you actually a victim?"

Guan Wenru was unaware that He Yanzhi had his eye on her.

After Grandma He and Grandpa He came out, everyone got into the pickup truck and went back to the Guan family home.

...

Guan Wanxin thought she had solved a major life event for her granddaughter, and she was in a good mood when she woke up this morning.

She even had the nanny cook her a bowl of bird's nest soup.

She was leisurely drinking bird's nest soup with her son and daughter-in-law when Uncle Li, who was in charge of tending the flowers and plants, jogged in and said, "Grandma, Master, Madam, Miss and Young Master are back. They... they even brought back their dowry."

"!" The three people sitting in the living room changed their expressions. Guan Wanxin put the bowl in her hand on the coffee table and quickly stood up.

Guan Wanxin's daughter-in-law, Qin Yue, quickly helped her up.

The three of them hurriedly walked out.

When Guan Wenru saw her grandmother, father, and mother, her eyes immediately reddened. She rushed over and hugged Guan Wanxin tightly, saying, "Grandma, Mom and Dad, I missed you so much!"

Guan Wanxin thought her granddaughter had been wronged, so she quickly comforted her, "Sweetie, don't be afraid, Grandma is here."

Guan Wenru's father, Guan Yuanxiu, frowned and looked at Guan Hongqi, "What happened? Who bullied your sister?"

Guan Hongqi, filled with resentment, immediately recounted all the despicable things Han Haoxian had done.

By the time he finished speaking, Guan Wenru had calmed down.

But Guan Wanxin, who was being held by her, was furious. "So, the Han family! Do they really think that I, Guan Wanxin, am old and incompetent? That's why they can bully my granddaughter?"

Guan Wanxin pushed Guan Wenru away, and angrily wanted to go to the Han family to demand justice.

Guan Wenru quickly pressed her down, "Grandma, Mom and Dad, let's go inside first, I have something I want to tell you."
