Side Story: Guan Hongqi vs. Li Jing (2)

Guan Hongqi, who was initially a little uncomfortable with her bringing him soy milk, has become much more natural about it.

Now he would instinctively take the soy milk from her hand and at the same time take out a small item from his bag for her.

Sometimes it's a fruit hard candy wrapped in pretty candy wrapper, and sometimes it's a small piece of peach shortbread wrapped in parchment paper.

After studying together for several days, the two quickly discovered each other's strengths in learning.

Guan Hongqi has a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, but when faced with particularly tricky math problems, Li Jing often comes up with more ingenious solutions.

Guan Hongqi, on the other hand, demonstrated an astonishing memory in political theory; he could recite those lengthy and complex arguments almost backwards.

Sure enough, Li Jing got a back slap from him again.

But he stumbled and struggled to recite it.

Li Jing couldn't help but sigh, her expression pained. "Comrade Guan, I always forget the beginning of this passage about 'the relations of production must adapt to the nature of the productive forces.' How do you remember it so well?"

Seeing her like this, Guan Hongqi put down his pen and gave her serious advice, "You can't just memorize this knowledge by rote. You have to understand its logical structure first. For example, the passage you just memorized is easy to make mistakes and get confused if you just memorize it by rote."

"Let's try my method again. We can divide this into four parts: background, connotation, expression, and significance. Just like disassembling weapons in the military, remember the core components, and the rest will be easier to assemble."

As he spoke, he sketched a structural diagram on the table with his fingertips.

Li Jing tried his method and found that it was indeed much more efficient.

The two continued to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of discussing the problems with each other.

After an unknown amount of time, Li Jing had just finished explaining a complex geometric proof to Guan Hongqi in detail, and her throat was dry from talking.

Guan Hongqi listened attentively, nodding frequently. His gaze inadvertently fell on Li Jing's face, and he noticed that her lips were dry and even slightly chapped from talking for so long.

Without much thought, almost subconsciously, he picked up his army green water bottle from the corner of the table, unscrewed the cap, and handed it over naturally, his voice low and gentle, "Comrade Li, you've said so much, have some water to soothe your throat."

What he handed over was a typical military-issue canteen, with some dents and scratches on the body, and the rim of the spout was smooth from frequent use.

Li Jing stared blankly at the kettle handed to her.

These days, unless it's family or an extremely close relationship, people rarely share water containers that are meant to be drunk directly from the mouth.

Her heart skipped a beat, and her gaze shifted from the kettle to Guan Hongqi's open and concerned face. She hesitated for only a moment before reaching out and taking it.

She lowered her head and said, "Thank you."

Having said that, she wasn't about to give up the opportunity, so she quickly turned slightly to the side, carefully bringing her lips close to the spout of the pot, and slowly took a small sip.

The cool, plain water slid down my throat and truly relieved my thirst, and my heart... fluttered with excitement.

When she finished drinking and handed the kettle back, Guan Hongqi reached out to take it, and their fingertips briefly touched.

In that instant, Guan Hongqi seemed to suddenly realize the inappropriateness of his actions!

he!!!!

He actually gave his water bottle, which he drinks from every day, to a young woman!

This realization sent a faint electric current through his body, causing him to freeze for a moment as he reached for the kettle. His expression instantly became somewhat unnatural, and his ears visibly flushed red.

He glanced up at Li Jing, then quickly looked away, and bent down to tighten the lid of the kettle, his movements slightly hurried.

Li Jing took in all his subtle reactions, and her own face felt like it was on fire, the heat quickly spreading to the tips of her ears.

She knew he had realized what was happening, so she hurriedly lowered her head and pretended to tidy up the books in front of her, but her fingers were a little unresponsive.

The reading room remained quiet, but the air between the two seemed to thicken and become scalding, as if the belated thought of an indirect kiss had surged within them.

No one spoke again, only an unspoken silence remained, and the pounding of their hearts echoed in each other's ears.
