“Uncle, I won’t sit down. Mom sent me to get some dried sweet potatoes.” Fu Yucheng handed over the cloth bag in his hand. “These are steamed cornbreads that Yinyin made for you. They’re still warm.”
The eldest uncle took the cloth bag, opened it, and smelled it: "Yinyin is such a thoughtful child, knowing that I like this. The dried sweet potatoes are piled up in the corner of the east room. Go get them yourself, and I'll find you a rope to tie them up."
Fu Yucheng walked into the east room and saw a bag full of dried sweet potatoes piled up in the corner, emitting a sweet aroma.
He picked up the sack and walked outside, while his uncle had already found a rope: "Carry it slowly, don't hurt your back."
"It's alright, Uncle, I'm strong." Fu Yucheng tied the dried sweet potatoes to the back of his bicycle. "Uncle, I'm going now, the family is waiting for me to do the work."
"Wait a minute." His uncle took a small bag of peanuts from the house and handed it to him. "Take this back to Yinyin. It's also a wish for you two to have a baby soon."
Fu Yucheng took the peanuts: "Thank you, Uncle Xie. I thank you on behalf of Yinyin."
"Don't be so polite with me." His uncle patted him on the shoulder. "Go back and tell your mother to invite her over when she has time. I saved some freshly picked persimmons for her."
"Okay, I'll definitely take it." Fu Yucheng got on his bicycle. "Uncle, I'm off."
When Fu Yucheng returned home, Yun Tangyin was drying radishes in the yard.
He unloaded the dried sweet potatoes and called out, "Wife, I'm home."
Yun Tangyin looked up, her face covered in dust, making her look like a little kitten: "You're back? Did you get the dried sweet potatoes?"
"I got it. Your uncle even brought you some peanuts." Fu Yucheng took out the peanuts from his pocket and handed them to her, reaching out to wipe the dust off her face. "You must be exhausted. Let me help you sort through them."
