Yun Tangyin held a small quilt she was embroidering for the child. The pattern of locust flowers and butterflies on the light pink fabric was almost finished.
"Second Sister-in-law, what do you think of the butterflies I embroidered?" Yun Tangyin handed over the quilt. "They're much better than when you taught me last time, aren't they?"
Jiang Jianhua took the quilt, looked at it carefully, and nodded with a smile: "It's really beautiful. The stitches are much more even than before, and the butterfly wings are more three-dimensional. When the baby is born, it will definitely be the most beautiful little quilt."
She paused, then said, "When I feel better, I'll embroider a tiger-head pillow for the child, to bless him with good health."
Yun Tangyin smiled and agreed, "Okay, let's do it together then. We'll make a whole set of little clothes, blankets, and pillows for the baby, so he can have a grand celebration when he turns one month old."
Jiang Jianhua's eyes lit up, and she moved the embroidery thread faster in her hands. Her smile became much wider than before.
For dinner, Fu Yucheng made shepherd's purse and tofu soup, which Jiang Jianhua liked, and also stewed pork rib and corn soup.
"Second sister-in-law, drink more soup to nourish your body," Fu Yucheng ladled out a bowl of pork rib and corn soup for her. "This corn is sweet corn bought in town, and the soup is very sweet. I'm sure you'll like it."
Jiang Jianhua took the soup bowl, took a sip, and felt a warm sensation in her heart from the sweetness of the corn mixed with the aroma of the pork ribs: "Thank you, Acheng, this soup is even more delicious than the soup I drink in the city."
Fu Yuanshan also put a piece of pork rib on her plate: "Eat up, eat more so you can have more energy. When you're feeling better, we'll go to the back mountain to pick mushrooms, dry them, and save them for winter."
Lying in bed at night, Jiang Jianhua felt a surge of warmth as he thought about how everyone had taken care of him these past few days.
She touched her belly. Although she had lost the baby, she knew that things would get better with so many people around her who cared about her.
The moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating everything in the room and the hope in her heart.
