Chapter 153 Don't call our child a little mouse!

Yu Xia covered her mouth and laughed: "Look at you two, so concerned for each other, you're even more inseparable than honey."

She added a spoonful of soup to Fu Yucheng's bowl, saying, "Drink more soup; it's more nourishing than just eating meatballs."

Fu Yucheng ladled a spoonful of soup into Yun Tangyin's bowl: "You should drink more too. The dried shrimp in this soup is good for calcium, it's more effective than calcium tablets."

Just as Yun Tangyin was about to push it back, he pressed her hand down: "You're pregnant, you need to replenish your body more than I do."

In the afternoon, Yun Tangyin sat on the bamboo couch embroidering baby shoes. Fu Yucheng leaned against the headboard and watched. Suddenly, he picked up a bamboo strip and fiddled with it: "When I get better, I'll weave a few more bamboo cradles for the child. They're lighter than wooden ones, so you won't have to rock them."

“Okay,” Yun Tangyin said, threading the needle, “weave a few small pouches around the cradle; it’ll be more convenient than carrying a separate cloth bag.”

Fu Yucheng's eyes lit up: "You're much more thoughtful than me, who only thought about how good it would look."

He bent down and carved patterns on the bamboo strips. "I'll carve some little tiger patterns on them. They'll look better than the plain ones, and they can also ward off evil spirits."

Yun Tangyin couldn't help but laugh: "Your mind is full of these things, there's no room left for you to think about them."

She put a piece of maltose in his mouth.

Fu Yucheng nodded, chewing on the candy: "Sweet, sweeter than honey."

Song Yushuang brought in a bamboo tray with freshly steamed pumpkin cakes on it: "Try them quickly. They have brown sugar in them, which makes them more nourishing than those with white sugar."

She slipped a piece into Yun Tangyin's hand, saying, "Give the child some nourishment too; it's better than always eating dry food."

As soon as Yun Tangyin took a bite, the sweet aroma of the pumpkin warmed her heart: "It's even better than the pastry shops in town."

She fed half a piece to Fu Yucheng, saying, "Try it too, it's even softer and chewier than maltose."

Fu Yucheng chewed on a pumpkin pancake, then suddenly pointed to the bamboo outside the window and said, "When I get better, I'll weave you a bamboo flower stand. It's sturdier than a wooden one, and you can put your favorite roses in it. It's much better than putting them in the house and taking up too much space."

"No need for that," Yun Tangyin said with a smile, shaking her head. "It's enough to have you with me."

In the evening, Fu Yucheng wanted to get out of bed and move around, but Yun Tangyin quickly helped him: "Walk slowly, be careful."

She slipped a bamboo cane into his hand. "I made it. It's lighter than a wooden cane and more stable to lean on."

Fu Yucheng took a couple of steps with his cane, then suddenly stopped and slipped a small bamboo trinket into her hand: "This is a bamboo butterfly I made for you. It's prettier than a real butterfly. You can pin it to your lapel."

Yun Tangyin pinned the bamboo butterfly to her clothes and twirled around: "It looks even better than wearing flowers."

During dinner, Fu Yucheng placed a piece of steamed fish in Yun Tangyin's bowl: "This fish has no bones and is lighter than braised fish, so eat more."

Yun Tangyin put a piece of tofu into his bowl: "Eat this, it's easier to digest than fish and it will help heal your wounds."

Yu Xia brought in a bamboo sieve to dry hawthorns, and said with a smile, "Second brother, my dried hawthorns are even more sour than those in the pharmacy. When you get better, I'll make some water for Yinyin to drink. It's better than preserved plums to cut through the greasiness."

Fu Yucheng immediately replied, "I bought her dried tangerine peel a long time ago. It's more appetizing than dried hawthorn. It's in the bamboo cabinet."

Yun Tangyin patted him lightly: "You think you're so great?" But her eyes were full of laughter.

That night, Yun Tangyin changed Fu Yucheng's dressing. Seeing that the wound was healing well, she breathed a sigh of relief: "It looks like it will be healed in another two days. It's healing faster than I expected."

Fu Yucheng grabbed her hand and pressed it against his face: "It's all thanks to you, it works better than any magic medicine."

He snuggled closer to her, "When I get better, I'll take you to the market in town. It's better than staying cooped up at home."

Yun Tangyin put her arm around his waist: "Okay, let's go buy your favorite braised pork hock. It's more fragrant than the one we make at home."

The bamboo wind chimes outside the window tinkled softly, as if providing accompaniment for the young couple's promise.

The next morning, just as Yun Tangyin put breakfast on the table, Fu Yucheng came over and said, "Studying today?"

Yun Tangyin pulled out the unfinished book and laughed, "You're so enthusiastic."

She had barely read two sentences when Fu Yucheng interrupted, "This is wrong."

Yun Tangyin tapped his arm: "Listen carefully, or I won't read it if you interrupt."

Although she scolded him playfully, her eyes were full of smiles.

Yu Xia came in carrying a bamboo basin to pour water, and said with a smile, "These two can bicker even while reading a book; they're more lively than young people."

She placed a plate of cucumber salad on the table. "It's freshly made with minced garlic. It's more refreshing than pickled vegetables and goes perfectly with porridge."

Fu Yucheng put a cucumber into Yun Tangyin's bowl: "Eat more, it's better to cool down than always eating hot dishes."

Yun Tangyin put a piece of food in his bowl as well: "You should eat some too, it's better than just drinking porridge."

Sunlight streamed through the bamboo window into the room, warming the two of them.

Looking at Yun Tangyin's profile, Fu Yucheng felt a warmth spreading through his heart, and he felt that these days of recuperation were sweeter than ever before.

Fu Yucheng couldn't sleep at noon, so he pestered Yun Tangyin to chat: "Do you think the baby will look like me or you when it's born? If it looks like you, its eyes will definitely be brighter than the stars; if it looks like me, it will definitely be stronger than me."

Yun Tangyin chuckled and patted him lightly: "You haven't even given birth yet, but you're more anxious than anyone else."

She slipped a small rag doll into his hand. "It was just sewn."

Fu Yucheng held the doll and looked at it: "This little tiger is really well sewn, even more spirited than the ones bought in town."

He suddenly leaned closer to her, "With you by my side... I really feel like there's hope for the future."

Yun Tangyin raised an eyebrow: "You only know how to say nice things to make me happy, but you don't know how to take care of yourself. Do you know how worried I was when you came home injured?"

Fu Yucheng quickly nodded: "I know, I know, I really won't do it again."

In the evening, Fu Yuanshan came to see Fu Yucheng, carrying a bamboo birdcage: "I wove this for you. It's lighter than a wooden one. Keep a little bird to keep you company. It's better than lying around all the time."

Fu Yucheng took the birdcage and looked at it: "This craftsmanship is far inferior to mine. I'll show you my skills when I'm better."

Yun Tangyin stuffed a piece of pumpkin cake into Fu Yuanshan's hand: "Second brother, try it, it's even sweeter than last time."

Fu Yuanzheng smiled and said, "My sister-in-law is much more skillful than my husband."

At dinner, Fu Yucheng ladled a bowl of millet porridge into Yun Tangyin's bowl: "This millet is cooked until it's sticky and soft, which is better for your stomach than rice porridge. Drink more of it."

Yun Tangyin put a piece of pork rib into his bowl: "You should eat more too, it's more filling than millet porridge."

Song Yushuang looked at them and smiled, "They're a match made in heaven, more perfect than anyone else."

At night, Fu Yucheng touched Yun Tangyin's belly and suddenly said, "Did the baby kick me just now? It's more lively than a little mouse."

He slipped a small bamboo rattle into her hand. "When he comes out, use this to amuse him. It sounds better than a bell."

Yun Tangyin shook her head, almost laughing in anger: "Who compares their child to a rat? Are you doing this on purpose!"

She snuggled closer to him and pinched Fu Yucheng's nose: "You're not allowed to call our child a little mouse, you hear me!"

Fu Yucheng hugged her tightly, nodded and admitted his mistake, feeling sweet inside. He felt that although he couldn't go out during his recovery, he was happier than ever before.
