Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Chen Zhaoyue had just told Wen Yanxi that Wen Qing's injury could not be hidden from Wen Qimin, but he didn't expect that Wen Qimin would come after just one meal.

Wen Qimin stood two steps away from the bed, quietly looking at the unconscious Wen Qing lying on the bed.

Wen Qing was only covered with a quilt. Although the injured part was bandaged, his arms and legs wrapped in gauze were exposed. There were traces of blood on the originally snow-white gauze.

Chen Zhaoyue brought a chair over: "Uncle, please sit down."

Wen Qimin nodded, but his eyes did not move away from Wen Qing at all.

Chen Zhaoyue briefly told Wen Qimin about Wen Qing's situation. When Wen Qimin learned that Wen Qing was still in danger, his expression became solemn.

Looking at his weak grandson lying on the bed, Wen Qimin thought of Wen Qing’s parents who had sacrificed many years ago.

Because of the enemy's cunning, Wen Qing's parents didn't even leave behind a complete body when they died.

Wen Qimin once promised his son and daughter-in-law in front of their cenotaph that he would take good care of their only son Wen Qing.

But now Wen Qing lay pale on the hospital bed, and Wen Qimin, because of his status, couldn't show too much grief like an ordinary grandfather. He still had to go back to take charge of the overall situation and couldn't let his personal emotions affect his judgment.

Although I always felt that Wen Qing was not a good person and wanted to scold him when I saw him, at least Wen Qing was alive and well, not lying in bed half-dead like he is now.

Wen Qimin could no longer bear the pain of seeing a loved one die before him.

Even though Wen Qimin didn't show it on his face, Chen Zhaoyue still keenly sensed his worry and sadness for Wen Qing.

No matter how much Wen Qimin usually showed disdain for Wen Qing in front of her, Shen Zhaoyue knew that Wen Qimin's 'disdain' was another expression of his love for Wen Qing.

Putting aside his identity and only looking at his age, Wen Qimin is just an old man who hopes that his nephews and grandchildren are safe and sound.

Chen Zhaoyue poured Wen Qimin a glass of water and comforted him, "Don't worry, uncle. I will be here with the doctor on duty tonight. As long as Wen Qing can survive tonight, his life will be safe."

Although Chen Zhaoyue did not tell him in detail about the process of rescuing Wen Qing, Wen Qimin could hear that she participated in the entire rescue.

Wen Qimin was very grateful to Chen Zhaoyue for saving Wen Qing's life. When he spoke, his old voice was choked with sobs: "Thank you for your hard work."

Shen Zhaoyue pursed her lips, not daring to take all the credit: “Rescuing patients is the responsibility of all medical staff in our health center.”

When Wen Yanxi came back after washing the lunch box, he saw Wen Qimin standing in front of the bed, with Chen Zhaoyue standing beside him.

Wen Yanxi walked over to Wen Qimin with a lunch box in his hand. His usually cold and hard voice sounded much softer: "Uncle, don't worry, Wen Qing will be fine."

Wen Qimin nodded: "You too, don't worry, Wen Qing will be fine."

He was worried that Wen Yanxi would be reminded of his deceased parents when he saw Wen Qing.

What Wen Qimin didn't say was that the Wen family is full of loyal and brave people, and their ancestors are watching from below and will never let anything happen to their only child.

Chen Zhaoyue took the net bag to pack the lunch box, then handed the net bag to Wen Yanxi and asked him to go home and rest early.

Wen Yanxi had been training for a whole day and was very tired. Chen Zhaoyue couldn't sacrifice his sleep time and make him stay with her in the health center just because she wanted to stay with him.

"Uncle, go back and have a good rest. I'll have someone notify you if anything happens." Chen Zhaoyue didn't make any intimate moves towards Wen Yanxi because Wen Qimin and the military doctor on duty were present. "If everything goes well, I'll be able to go home tomorrow morning. Don't worry about me. I'll be at the health center and I won't be going anywhere."

Wen Yanxi nodded. He knew that he couldn't help much by staying here, so he told Chen Zhaoyue: "You should also pay attention to rest and don't push yourself too hard."

Chen Zhaoyue nodded: "I understand, uncle, don't worry, there are other doctors, we will definitely not let Wen Qing get into trouble."

"Uncle, go back and rest too." Chen Zhaoyue said to Wen Yanxi, "Uncle, please take Uncle back."

Wen Yanxi looked at Shen Zhaoyue restrainedly, then turned around and followed Wen Qimin outside.

Wen Qimin walked to a deserted place outside the clinic and stood facing the brightly lit clinic. Even though he couldn't be sure which window was the ward where Wen Qing was, he felt more at ease looking at it this way.

Wen Yanxi stood a little behind Wen Qimin and asked, "Uncle, do you want to tell me something?"

Wen Qimin narrowed his eyes and said, "Wen Qing's accident this time was not an accident. I've learned that the snake nest Wen Qing stepped on didn't seem to be naturally formed. It looked like someone had prepared it and was waiting for him to step on it."

Wen Yanxi listened to his words and looked coldly: "You mean, there are enemies infiltrating our team?"

Wen Qimin expressed his thoughts: "I suspect that the last mission to capture enemy spies angered their accomplices hiding in the dark, and they attacked the soldiers during field training in retaliation. However, this matter still needs to be investigated in detail. You come to a meeting tomorrow morning."

After hearing Wen Qimin's guess, Wen Yanxi's eyes became dark and a low pressure emanated from his body.

If it was really the accomplices of the enemy spy captured last time who attacked the soldiers in field training in revenge, would Chen Zhaoyue also be in danger?

After all, the health center not only provides medical treatment to soldiers in the army and their families in the family compound, but also occasionally sees patients from the surrounding villagers.

What if those enemy spies were mixed in with the villagers, pretending to come for medical treatment, but actually wanted to get close to Chen Zhaoyue and observe his life patterns?

Wen Yanxi returned home in a low mood. He put the lunch box on the table and went to take a shower.

After taking a shower, he stood in the place where Shen Zhaoyue usually sat in the yard to dry her hair, not knowing what to do.

It was obvious that Chen Zhaoyue had only been here for a short time and they had not spent much time together, but tonight the house was deserted without Chen Zhaoyue, making him feel unfamiliar.

Especially when he returned to the bedroom to sleep, Wen Yanxi stood at the bedroom door, looking at the empty bed. It took him a while to accept the fact that Chen Zhaoyue would not come back to sleep tonight.

Wen Yanxi felt tormented when he slept with Chen Zhaoyue in his arms.

Chen Zhaoyue was not at home today, and Wen Yanxi couldn't sleep either.

Chen Zhaoyue's pillow was right next to him. As soon as he turned over, he could smell the faint herbal fragrance on her pillow. The fragrance gave Wen Yanxi the illusion that Chen Zhaoyue was right next to him.

But his arms felt empty... Wen Yanxi closed his eyes and held Chen Zhaoyue's pillow in his arms.

After Wen Qimin and Wen Yanxi left, the ward fell silent again.

Chen Zhaoyue took a pen and wrote and drew on the notebook, and time passed by unknowingly.

Chen Zhaoyue calculated the time to remove the needles from Wen Qing's body, and then took his pulse. He found that although Wen Qing's pulse was still a little chaotic, Wen Qing's condition was obviously much better than before.
