Chapter 174 Wedding Night
The bathroom was filled with steam. Chen Zhaoyue stood under the shower, letting the warm water wash over her tired body.
The day's bustle of the wedding finally came to an end. The smell of alcohol mixed with the smoke from firecrackers lingered on her hair and clothes. She carefully rubbed her long hair, and the foam slid down her smooth skin, creating ripples on the water.
Chen Zhaoyue turned off the faucet, pushed the door and walked out of the bathroom. The whole bed was covered with a bright red wedding quilt, embroidered with a pattern of mandarin ducks playing in the water, which was faintly visible in the dim light.
Chen Zhaoyue dried herself and changed into a red silk nightgown - this was a gift made for her by Yue Xiulan and several other military wives using the cloth coupons they had collected.
Chen Zhaoyue lay in the soft bedding, smelling the fresh air from the sun, and a sense of anticipation and nervousness inexplicably arose in his heart.
There was the sound of water coming from the bathroom again. It was Wen Yanxi taking a shower.
Chen Zhaoyue pulled up the quilt to cover his face, but his ears were keenly capturing every movement over there.
The sound of water stopped and the door opened.
Wen Yanxi came in shirtless. On the cool night of early autumn, he was only wearing a pair of shorts.
Chen Zhaoyue quietly opened her eyes and saw his strong back and broad shoulders. Water droplets slid down his spine and sank into the edge of his trousers. Her heartbeat could not help but speed up a bit.
Wen Yanxi walked to the bedside and turned off the night light. The room was suddenly plunged into darkness, with only a few rays of moonlight leaking in through the gaps in the curtains.
Chen Zhaoyue felt the other side of the mattress sink, and Wen Yanxi's breath hit her face, with the refreshing smell of soapberry and a hint of alcohol.
"Are you asleep?" Wen Yanxi asked softly, his voice particularly clear in the darkness.
Chen Zhaoyue did not answer, but just moved slightly.
Wen Yanxi seemed to chuckle, then lay down. There was some distance between them, but they could both feel each other's body temperature. Chen Zhaoyue was so nervous that her palms were slightly sweaty, and she unconsciously held her breath.
Silence spread in the darkness, broken only by the occasional chirping of insects outside the window.
"I..." Chen Zhaoyue finally spoke, her voice so soft that it was almost inaudible, "I have no experience..."
Wen Yanxi turned around to face her, and even in the darkness, she could feel the burning gaze of his eyes.
"Me neither." Wen Yanxi admitted frankly, with a smile in his voice. Although the two of them kissed and hugged each other a lot, they had never broken through the last line of defense.
Since both of them are novices, Wen Yanxi naturally would not let Chen Zhaoyue, who is even more shameless than him, take the initiative.
Wen Yanxi's hand groped in the darkness and finally found hers. The moment their fingertips touched, they both trembled slightly. His palm was broad and warm, gently wrapping around her slightly cool fingers.
"Don't be afraid." Wen Yanxi whispered and moved a little closer.
Chen Zhaoyue could feel his breath brushing against her cheek, with a faint scent of toothpaste and mint. Her heart was beating like a drum, but for some reason, when he held her hand, the anxiety in her heart gradually subsided.
Wen Yanxi's kiss landed on her forehead, light as a feather. Then it reached the tip of her nose, and finally, he gently pressed his lips against hers. At first, it was just a gentle touch, like a test, but then it gradually deepened.
Chen Zhaoyue raised her head and responded to him, her hands unconsciously climbing onto his shoulders.
Wen Yanxi's kiss followed her jawline all the way down, lingering on her slender neck. His hand released hers and instead stroked her waist. The silk nightgown was as thin as a cicada's wing, and there was almost no feeling of separation.
"Is it okay?" Wen Yanxi asked breathlessly, his voice low and hoarse.
Chen Zhaoyue didn't answer, but nodded slightly. Realizing that he might not be able to see in the darkness, she added softly, "Yeah." Chen Zhaoyue turned away in shame, but he gently pulled her back. Their eyes met, and although they couldn't see each other clearly in the darkness, they could feel the burning emotion.
The following process was awkward and slow, like two cubs embracing each other for the first time, groping each other's bodies and boundaries.
In the darkness, the senses are infinitely magnified.
Chen Zhaoyue could clearly feel the warmth of Wen Yanxi's chest, the rhythm of his heartbeat, and the slight dampness of sweat from their skin touching. An unfamiliar pleasure surged like a tide, pushing the two into an unknown realm.
…
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting a bright streak of light across the floor. When Chen Zhaoyue woke up, she found herself alone. She moved, and suddenly felt aches all over, especially in her waist, so sore she could barely stand up.
Chen Zhaoyue squinted at the alarm clock on the bedside table, surprised to find it was almost eleven o'clock. Her stomach growled with hunger, and she struggled to sit up. The quilt slipped off her body, revealing red stains. The sheets beneath her were even more disheveled, stained with a few traces of dried dark red blood.
Shen Zhaoyue's face suddenly burned. She was trying to get out of bed when the door was gently pushed open.
Wen Yanxi was already dressed neatly. His army green uniform made him stand tall and straight, and he looked completely different from the passionate man from last night.
Seeing that Chen Zhaoyue had woken up, Wen Yanxi raised a smile.
"Finally woke up?" Wen Yanxi walked to the bed and sat down. "When I woke up this morning, I saw you were sleeping soundly, so I didn't wake you up. Later, I came to check on you several times, but you didn't wake up."
Chen Zhaoyue said coquettishly: "Uncle, I'm too tired and my whole body aches."
"Where does it hurt? Let me rub it for you." Wen Yanxi said as his hand touched her lower back.
His palms were warm and strong, massaging her aching muscles just right.
Chen Zhaoyue was a little stiff at first, but as the comfort came, he gradually relaxed and even let out a sigh unconsciously.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked softly.
"Much better." Chen Zhaoyue nodded, and suddenly remembered something, grabbing the quilt to cover her chest, "Turn around, I want to put on my clothes."
Wen Yanxi chuckled, "You're already husband and wife, and you're still shy?"
Although he said this, Wen Yanxi still turned around obediently.
Chen Zhaoyue dressed quickly, unable to resist stealing a glance at his back. In the sunlight, his shoulders were broad and straight, his posture was like a pine tree, and he exuded the resolute aura of a soldier.
"Okay." Chen Zhaoyue said this in a low voice, leaning on his shoulder like a boneless person: "Uncle, I'm hungry."
Wen Yanxi turned around and saw that she was wearing simple home clothes, with her long hair casually draped over her shoulders. Compared to her usual neatness, she looked a little more gentle.
"The meal is ready." Wen Yanxi said, naturally taking her hand, "I made porridge and fried a few side dishes."
The two of them came to the small restaurant, and sure enough, there was porridge and side dishes on the table. Although simple, it was fragrant.
Chen Zhaoyue was indeed extremely hungry. His appetite was twice as large as usual, and he drank two bowls of porridge before he felt better.
Wen Yanxi waited until she finished eating before eating the rest of the food.
After dinner, Chen Zhaoyue looked at the messy sheets in the bedroom, thinking of some scenes that happened last night, her face flushed, and she confidently instructed Wen Yanxi to work: "Uncle, the weather is nice today, wash the sheets later!"
