Chapter 180 A Bit Disgusting

Chapter 180 A Bit Disgusting

"Maybe... I'm just a little tired. I'll just go and rest for a while." Chen Zhaoyue forced a smile, but felt a little puzzled.

She usually likes to eat the braised pork in the cafeteria. As long as the cafeteria makes this dish, she will order a portion. She hasn’t eaten it yet today, but she feels full just by smelling the aroma.

The afternoon work was relatively easy. I saw a few patients with colds and fevers, and prescribed some cold medicines to dispel cold and dissipate heat, which might be used in autumn and winter.

By the time I got off work, it was already dark. Autumn was deepening, and the days were getting shorter.

When I got home, Wen Yanxi had not returned yet.

Chen Zhaoyue changed into a thick coat and sat on the sofa, waiting for a while but Wen Yanxi didn't come back.

Since she was free anyway, Chen Zhaoyue felt that she was going to fall asleep again if she sat down any longer, so she decided to cook first and wait for Wen Yanxi to come back and stir-fry two dishes before eating.

As soon as the rice was put into the pot, familiar footsteps were heard outside the door. Wen Yanxi pushed the door open and walked in, holding a fresh fish that was still flapping in his hands.

"Yueyue, look," Wen Yanxi held up the fish in his hand with a look of pride on his face. "This is the carp my uncle gave me. It's very fat. How do you want to eat it? Braised or..."

Before he could finish his words, a fishy smell hit him in the face.

Chen Zhaoyue suddenly felt a nausea in his stomach, covered his mouth and ran to the toilet.

"Yue——"

"Yueyue?" Wen Yanxi stood there in a daze, holding the fish, at a loss. "This fish... is quite fresh. It doesn't smell that bad, right?"

After a while, Chen Zhaoyue came out of the bathroom with a pale face and waved his hands weakly: "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened, I suddenly feel a little nauseous."

Wen Yanxi hurriedly carried the fish out the door, turned back and helped her sit down, reaching out to touch her forehead: "Did you catch a cold? You look so pale."

"Maybe," Chen Zhaoyue leaned on his shoulder, "I've been feeling a bit tired lately, and I feel uncomfortable when I see greasy things."

Wen Yanxi's eyes were heavy, and he only said softly: "I will take a day off tomorrow and go to the hospital with you."

"No need, I'm a doctor at the health center, how could I not know what's wrong with me?" Shen Zhaoyue smiled, "Maybe it's the change of seasons, my body needs to adapt."

Wen Yanxi refused to agree: "A doctor should not treat himself. That's it."

There was an unyielding insistence in his tone.

At dinner, the fish was finally steamed, but Chen Zhaoyue only reluctantly ate a few bites of the vegetarian dish before putting down his chopsticks.

Wen Yanxi saw it all and was worried, but said nothing.

It was late at night and Chen Zhaoyue fell asleep quickly. Wen Yanxi, however, tossed and turned, staring at his wife's peaceful sleeping face in the moonlight outside the window. A bold guess came to his mind, but it seemed impossible.

It was an October morning, and the sky was not yet fully bright. Gray light shone through the window lattice, casting vague shadows in the room.

Chen Zhaoyue vaguely felt the movement around him, and forced himself to open his sleepy eyes. He saw Wen Yanxi already dressed and standing in front of the bed buttoning his coat.

"It's still early, you should sleep a little longer." Wen Yanxi's voice was low and gentle, and he leaned over to tuck the corner of the quilt for her.

Chen Zhaoyue was indeed very sleepy, her eyelids so heavy that she couldn't lift them. She responded vaguely and shrunk back into the warm quilt. But not long after, she felt Wen Yanxi return, gently pushing her shoulder.

"Yueyue, get up. I'll take you to the health center."

Chen Zhaoyue was feeling very sleepy and grumbled dissatisfiedly: "Why go to the health center? I'm not sick..."

"You didn't eat anything yesterday, I'm worried." Wen Yanxi's tone was unyielding, and he had already taken her clothes. "Come on, raise your hands."

Half asleep and half awake, Chen Zhaoyue let Wen Yanxi manipulate her like a rag doll.

Wen Yanxi deftly helped her put on her shirt and trousers, then brought her a thick military coat and wrapped her up tightly. The weather in October had already turned chilly, especially in the early mornings, when a faint white mist could be seen on the breath she exhaled.

"I haven't eaten yet." Chen Zhaoyue protested softly, his voice still hoarse from just waking up.

"Eat after the examination." Wen Yanxi replied concisely, half supporting and half hugging her to lead her out.

When the cold wind blew, Shen Zhaoyue finally woke up. She found that she had been taken out of the compound by Wen Yanxi and was on the way to the health center.

The leaves of the sycamore trees lining the street have begun to turn yellow, and occasionally a few leaves that have fallen early are swirling in the morning breeze.

"Why did I come out with you?" Chen Zhaoyue rubbed his eyes and asked in annoyance, "Aren't you making a fuss out of nothing? I just caught a cold because the weather changed so much."

Wen Yanxi frowned slightly: "It's not just yesterday. You've had a poor appetite these past few days, and your reactions have been a little slow."

Just as Shen Zhaoyue was about to retort, they had already arrived at the health center. To her surprise, Wen Yanxi didn't wait for her at the door as usual, but followed her in.

"Why did you come in too?" Chen Zhaoyue asked doubtfully.

"Let the doctor check you carefully, otherwise I will be worried." Wen Yanxi said, his eyes swept around the simple reception room of the health center, and happened to see Gao Wen walking out of the duty room.

Gao Wen was a little surprised to see them coming so early: "Captain Wen, Zhaoyue, why are you here? Is anyone feeling unwell?"

Wen Yanxi answered on his behalf: "President Gao, my wife vomited yesterday and has no appetite. She's been a little slow in the past two days."

"..." Upon hearing this, Chen Zhaoyue quietly pinched Wen Yanxi's arm and retorted softly: "How can I be so slow? Don't criticize me."

Gao Wen looked at Shen Zhaoyue's face, which was indeed paler than usual, so she asked, "Are there any other symptoms?"

"I'm just a little tired and haven't gotten enough sleep." Chen Zhaoyue said, and suddenly thought of something, "But there's really no need to bother, I can take my own pulse."

As she spoke, she stretched out her right hand and placed it on her left wrist, saying confidently, "I'm half a doctor myself, what can I do..."

However, the moment his fingertips touched the pulse, Shen Zhaoyue's brows frowned unconsciously.

She adjusted the position of her fingers, and her expression gradually became focused and solemn.

Seeing this, Wen Yanxi asked nervously, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

"Huh?" Chen Zhaoyue didn't answer immediately. Instead, she closed her eyes and concentrated on feeling the pulse under her fingertips. After a while, she suddenly opened her eyes and muttered to herself, "When did I last have my period?"

This sentence made Wen Yanxi and Gao Wen alert at the same time.

Wen Yanxi squatted down and looked at Chen Zhaoyue who was sitting on the chair: "Yueyue, what happened?"

Chen Zhaoyue raised her head and looked at him with complicated eyes: "It seems that I really need to check it carefully."

Wen Yanxi's heart leaped into his throat when she said that. A rare look of worry crossed his usually composed face. "Then wait here for the results. Take a good look."

Chen Zhaoyue nodded and turned to Gao Wen: "Dean Gao, please give me a checkup, preferably...gynecological."
