Chapter 184 Wanting a Daughter

Chapter 184 Wanting a Daughter

Shen Zhaoyue turned around and faced him: "Why are you suddenly talking about this?"

Wen Yanxi was silent for a moment before he slowly said, "I've always felt that I'd never have children in this lifetime. I've even decided that if you ever want children, you should ask Wen Qing to have a few and give one to us to raise."

Chen Zhaoyue opened her eyes wide in surprise: "You have never told me this..."

"The problem is me. I had no intention of getting married, but you chose me, which made me change my mind. I didn't want to put you in a bad place, but I also didn't want to put too much pressure on you." Wen Yanxi's voice was a little hoarse. "After I was injured that year, the doctor told me that the injury was in a special location and might affect my fertility. Over the years, I have kept it a secret from everyone, except my uncle."

Chen Zhaoyue caressed his cheek distressedly: "It's fine now. You don't have to bring Wen Qing's child back to raise."

"Yes, it's fine." Wen Yanxi hugged her tighter. "I don't know how it got better, but it's definitely your credit. So thank you, Yueyue, for giving me a complete family."

These words made Shen Zhaoyue's eyes warm. She finally understood that Wen Yanxi's abnormal behavior these days was not only because of the joy of becoming a father, but also because the regret that was once hidden deep in his heart was finally made up.

The next evening, Wen Yanxi came back from get off work early, holding a bag of Chen Zhaoyue Hawthorn Cake in his hand.

Chen Zhaoyue pinched a piece and took a bite, then heard Wen Yanxi say, "Eat a little when you feel nauseous, it will make you feel better."

Wen Yanxi took the bag, kettle, and hawthorn cake from her hands, supported her waist, and carefully protected her. "Let's go to uncle's house for dinner."

Chen Zhaoyue couldn't help laughing at him: "You are too nervous. If someone didn't know, they would think I was pregnant with a golden nugget."

Wen Yanxi said seriously, "In my eyes, it is more precious than a lump of gold."

These words left Shen Zhaoyue speechless and she had no choice but to let him protect her.

When I arrived at Wen Qimin's house, I could smell the delicious food before I even entered the door.

Wen Qimin smiled as soon as he saw Chen Zhaoyue: "Come quickly, come quickly. Today I specially asked the guards to stew chicken soup for Yueyue to nourish her body."

Wen Yanxi helped Chen Zhaoyue sit down, and then busied himself with pouring her water and getting her chopsticks. His frantic behavior made Wen Qimin shake his head: "Look at how unproductive you are. You're already taking care of Yueyue like this when she's pregnant. What will happen after she gives birth?"

As they were talking and laughing, Wen Qing's voice came from outside the door: "Grandpa, I'm back!"

Before he finished speaking, a tall figure stepped into the room.

Wen Qing was holding two bottles of orange soda in his hands, which he had just bought from the supply and marketing cooperative. He greeted everyone with a smile, and paused when his eyes fell on Shen Zhaoyue. Although he still felt awkward, he no longer had any psychological burden when calling Shen Zhaoyue by her new name.

But Wen Qing suddenly said, "Has my aunt gained weight recently? Her face looks rounder."

Wen Qimin laughed heartily: "You have such sharp eyes, kid! Your aunt isn't just getting fat, she's pregnant!"

Wen Qing froze in place for several seconds before reacting. A huge smile suddenly broke out on his face: "Really? That's great! Congratulations, uncle, congratulations, aunt!"

Wen Yanxi patted him on the back and said with a smile, "Congratulations, Wen Qing, you're going to be the big brother!"

The atmosphere at the dinner table was particularly lively.

Wen Qimin kept picking up food for Chen Zhaoyue, and the chicken in the bowl piled up like a small mountain.

Wen Qing asked curiously, "Aunt, when is the due date? Do you want a boy or a girl? Have you decided on a name?"

Chen Zhaoyue was overwhelmed by the questions, and Wen Yanxi quickly came to her rescue: "It's only been over a month, why rush? It's fine for both men and women, as long as they are healthy."

Wen Qing, however, looked longing: "I hope it's a younger sister, a soft and sweet little girl, so cute."

He suddenly thought of something, and his eyes lit up. "Uncle, if we have a daughter, can I, as the eldest brother, give her a nickname?"

Wen Qimin laughed and scolded, "You've only read a few books, how can you come up with a good name? Don't give your child something like 'Iron Hammer' or 'Steel Nail'."

Everyone laughed, and Wen Qing muttered unconvincedly: "Why can't I come up with a name..."

Wen Qimin picked up a chicken claw and blocked his mouth: "This is your uncle and aunt's first child, so they must choose the name as their parents. You can choose the second and third children when they have them in the future."

The meal was particularly warm and cozy as we talked and laughed.

Chen Zhaoyue looked at the scene in front of her, and her heart was filled with happiness. She had a considerate husband, a family that cared about her, and now she had the child she was expecting. She felt that life was perfect.

After dinner, Wen Qing rushed to wash the dishes.

Chen Zhaoyue is now the treasure of the Wen family. Wen Qimin ordered her to sit on the sofa and listen to him and Wen Yanxi chatting.

Wen Qimin and Wen Yanxi sat at the table drinking tea, and the conversation turned to Chen Zhaoyue's work.

When there is no emergency, Chen Zhaoyue's job is very easy. She prepares medicine in the pharmacy and teaches the nurses some knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine when she has nothing to do.

But once there is an emergency, such as a soldier being injured during training or a mission, she will join the rescue work. When the injury is serious, she will have to stay in the health center to work the night shift.

"Now that Yueyue is pregnant, do we need to adjust our work at the health center?" Wen Qimin asked. "How about I tell Director Gao to stop letting Yueyue be in charge of rescuing patients? I'm worried if she's too tired."

Wen Yanxi glanced at Chen Zhaoyue. Although he also wanted Chen Zhaoyue to take good care of the baby, he respected Chen Zhaoyue's decision.

Chen Zhaoyue hurriedly said: "Uncle, I'm not that squeamish. I can handle the work of the health center. There is no need to make any special arrangements."

Wen Yanxi held her hand and said, "Uncle is also thinking about you and the child."

Wen Qing finished washing the dishes and wiped his hands as he came over. Upon hearing this, he agreed: "Uncle is right. Auntie, just focus on taking care of your baby. You can always do the work at the health center. There's no need to rush."

Chen Zhaoyue felt warm in her heart. She knew that everyone really cared about her and the child, but she was not yet at the point where she could not work, so she fought for herself: "Uncle, Yanxi, don't worry, I will never be stubborn. If I really feel unwell, I will tell Dean Gao myself."

Seeing her insistence, Wen Qimin stopped trying to persuade her and just said, "Okay, as long as you know what's going on."

Night had fallen. On the way home, Wen Yanxi carefully supported Chen Zhaoyue, fearing that she would trip.

"Yueyue, do you like boys or girls?" Wen Yanxi suddenly asked.

Chen Zhaoyue thought about it and smiled: "I like them all. As long as it's our child, it's all good."

Wen Yanxi nodded, was silent for a moment, and said softly: "I hope it's a daughter, as gentle and strong as you."
