Three hours later, the plane landed smoothly at Guangzhou Airport, though it wasn't exactly smooth sailing.
Shortly after takeoff, they encountered severe clear-air turbulence.
Jiang Si was alright, after all, she was used to flying in airplanes in later generations.
Huo Tingzhou is a pilot, which is something he is quite used to.
The hardship was for Uncle San and Uncle Zhong, as it was their first time on an airplane.
One second they were excitedly looking down at the matchbox-like houses, marveling at their wonder.
The next second, the plane suddenly plummeted straight down.
After finally getting off the plane, the two hadn't even had a chance to catch their breath when the flight to Qiongzhou Island had already started boarding.
Fortunately, this voyage was relatively short.
The plane flew relatively smoothly.
Around 5 p.m., the group arrived at Qiongzhou Island.
As soon as I stepped out of the airport, I saw He Ping grinning from ear to ear.
"Commander, sister-in-law, grandfather, uncle, hello."
Huo Tingzhou introduced him, "This is my bodyguard, He Ping."
"Xiao He, you've worked hard today," said Uncle San.
"No, no, it's not hard work at all." He Ping waved his hand happily.
The airport was crowded, making it difficult to talk, so the two greeted each other and got into the car.
After a long day on the plane, everyone was exhausted. It would be too rushed to take a car ride back to the military region for several hours.
So Huo Tingzhou had already made arrangements before setting off: stay in the city for one night and return to the unit early tomorrow morning.
On the way to the guesthouse, Jiang Si said with a smile.
"He Ping has a new hairstyle. I almost didn't recognize him just now, but this hairstyle suits you quite well."
He Ping's grin widened even more. "Thank you, sister-in-law."
After saying that, he scratched the back of his head, looking rather embarrassed.
"My boyfriend cut my hair, and I haven't dared to go out for the past two days."
"After hearing what my sister-in-law said, I feel much more at ease!"
ah?
Jiang Si was surprised. "He Ping, you have a boyfriend?"
Upon hearing this, Huo Tingzhou also looked over in confusion.
Feeling a little uneasy under his commander's gaze, He Ping quickly said, "We just confirmed our relationship last month. We owe it all to Sister Hu. If it weren't for her matchmaking, we wouldn't have made it."
Upon hearing that Hu Meili had made the introduction, Jiang Si knew what was going on.
"Congratulations, He Ping."
"Hehehe, thank you, sister-in-law."
It's said that people in love are fools, and He Ping embodies that saying perfectly.
He Ping's laughter never stopped on the way back to the guesthouse from the airport.
Several times Huo Tingzhou wanted to speak up and remind him, "Could you please not laugh while driving?"
In the end, Jiang Si stopped him with a doting smile.
Half an hour later, the car pulled over to the side of the road.
This time, we stayed at the military region's guesthouse again.
When checking in, the front desk staff recognized Jiang Si at a glance, and coincidentally, the room they assigned her this time was the same one she stayed in last time.
However, last time she lived alone, but this time she and her husband live together.
"Honey, here's the room key. Go back to your room and take a shower first."
Huo Tingzhou gave the key to Jiang Si, and then carried the luggage to take his third uncle to the fifth floor.
After settling his third uncle and Uncle Zhong in, he returned to his room.
Jiang Si had already finished showering and was drying her hair.
Her hair was jet black and glossy, and because she often braided it, when it was down, it looked just like the long, seaweed-like hair often described in comics.
Why don't you use a hair dryer?
As he asked this question, Huo Tingzhou stepped forward and took the towel from her hand.
Jiang Si told the truth: "I'm lazy."
She had a lot of luggage, and I don't even know which suitcase the hairdryer is in.
Huo Tingzhou smiled indulgently, then picked up a towel and gently wiped her down.
After he had dried his hair, he cleared his throat twice.
"Honey, is my hair getting a little long?"
Jiang Si looked up and said, "It's alright."
After saying that, he added, "I don't know what the regulations are in your army. If you think it's too long, you can stop by the barbershop when you go downstairs for lunch."
The military issues invoices every month; it only takes about ten minutes to get them cut.
Huo Tingzhou pursed his lips, then mustered his courage again, "I've never had my hair cut here before, so I don't know how good the stylist is."
Unfortunately, Jiang Si didn't understand his subtext. "Isn't it a standard requirement in the military to have buzz cuts? The barbers have been doing this for years, what's so difficult about it?"
"If it really doesn't work, you can get it cut again when you get back to the army tomorrow."
Huo Tingzhou: "..."
He had no way to respond to that.
Finally, he awkwardly replied, "Mm."
The tone sounded rather aggrieved.
Jiang Si immediately realized, "How about I cut it for you?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt an urge to take it back.
But Huo Tingzhou responded too quickly; he had already stood up the moment he said "okay."
Where are you going?
Huo Tingzhou: "I'm going to the barbershop to borrow some clippers and scissors. I'll be back in a bit."
"You really want me to cut it?"
Seeing his expectant face, Jiang Si was too embarrassed to say anything.
You'll cry later.
But she couldn't stay silent, so Jiang Si forced herself to speak.
"I have never cut anyone else's hair, I have never even cut my own hair."
"What if you mess it up? How will you face anyone then?"
