The person who came was Minister Zhao's assistant. "Engineer Jiang, Minister Zhao would like to see you."
"Assistant An, did Minister Zhao say what it was about?" Jiang Si was packing her things at the moment.
She had made an appointment with Professor Li to go to the construction site later.
"I'm not really sure about that either."
Generally, they simply do what their superiors tell them to do and rarely ask questions about it.
However, after thinking for a moment, Assistant An added, "Professor Li is also here."
Upon hearing that Professor Li was also there, Jiang Si understood the situation and asked her assistant to wait a moment.
I organized the materials related to the design of the embassy district.
Minister Zhao was likely contacting them at this time for this reason.
After they had finished packing, the two walked and talked.
Just as they were about to go upstairs, they ran into Vice Minister Xu at the corner of the stairs.
"Xiao Jiang, busy?" As soon as he saw her, Vice Minister Xu greeted her in a good mood.
Perhaps because of the previous investigation into the mole, Jiang Si paid special attention to these people on the list.
Especially Vice Minister Xu's words and actions.
Although Vice Minister Xu usually greets her with a smile, for some reason, Jiang Si felt that the way he looked at her today seemed a little strange.
She couldn't quite put her finger on what was strange about it.
Before she could even sort out her thoughts, Vice Minister Xu had already walked past them and headed straight to the other side of the corridor.
After a few knocks, the door opened inwards.
Backlit, Jiang Si couldn't see very clearly, only that the person who opened the door was somewhat thin.
After exchanging greetings, Vice Minister Xu stepped inside.
The door was then closed.
The floors above the third floor are all the leaders' offices.
Jiang Si rarely comes over.
However, she had met most of the leaders in her workplace.
To my recollection, no leader seems to meet this requirement.
Perhaps her gaze lingered on that door for too long, because Assistant An explained, "That's Secretary Yan's office."
"Secretary Yan?" Which Secretary Yan?
"From the Discipline Inspection Commission."
The Discipline Inspection Commission is a very important department in the unit. Jiang Si asked curiously, "How come I've never seen Secretary Yan before?"
“Secretary Yan had a serious illness before and stayed at home to recuperate for more than half a year. He has recently recovered and has started to report to the unit.”
Seeing that Jiang Si had taken the initiative to ask about Secretary Yan, Assistant An said a few more words.
"However, he doesn't usually receive guests; Vice Minister Xu handles most of the work."
"Xiao Jiang." Just as the two were talking in hushed tones, a familiar voice came from above the stairs.
Jiang Si looked up and saw Professor Li standing at the top of the stairs.
It's obvious that they've been waiting for a while.
Seeing that Professor Li had come to pick them up in person, Assistant An tactfully made an excuse to give them some space.
After everyone left, Professor Li followed Jiang Si's gaze and looked over. "What's wrong? Why are you standing here in a daze?"
Jiang Si snapped out of her daze and quickly went up to the fourth floor.
I also mentioned that I had just run into Vice Minister Xu.
"He told you?" Professor Li shook his head helplessly after hearing this. "I knew he wouldn't be able to resist..."
"Can't help what?" Jiang Si looked completely bewildered.
Now it was Professor Li's turn to be surprised. "What? Didn't Vice Minister Xu tell you?"
"No, he just said hello."
After saying that, Jiang Si looked over with a curious expression.
Unexpectedly, Professor Li simply smiled and said, "Go inside first, Minister Zhao is waiting."
Does this mean they're going to keep us in suspense?
Although she was very curious, Jiang Si didn't ask any more questions since Professor Li had already said so.
As they spoke, the two arrived at the door of Minister Zhao's office.
Jiang Si stepped forward and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Minister Zhao was looking at documents when he saw them come in. He smiled and pointed to the two sofas opposite him.
"Please sit down. The teapot is right next to you. Help yourselves to water if you want some."
Although he is the head of the unit, Minister Zhao is approachable and has no airs of a leader.
Seeing this, Jiang Si didn't stand on ceremony and readily sat down.
As she expected, after Minister Zhao finished reading the documents in his hand, he got straight to the point and started talking about official business.
"So, where's the design for the embassy district coming from?"
Jiang Si handed over the documents she had brought and then briefly explained the key points.
Minister Zhao nodded repeatedly as he listened.
Since the details of the design were handled by a specialist, he didn't ask too many questions, but instead focused on the construction schedule.
I also asked if the other party had made any unreasonable demands.
"No one was deliberately making things difficult for me."
Jiang Si spoke frankly: "However, I have spoken with Assistant Chi, and they have a strict requirement that the project must be completed by the end of the year, including the interior decoration."
"Before the end of the year?"
Minister Zhao couldn't help but frown. "In that case, there won't be enough time, will there?"
The Third Engineering Bureau was designated as the contractor for this project.
Generally, large projects are assigned to the First and Second Engineering Bureaus.
The Third Engineering Bureau will only get projects that are leftover or unwanted by them.
The Third Engineering Bureau is already short-staffed, and there are only four months left until the end of the freezing period.
Completing the main structure and interior decoration was extremely difficult.
Jiang Si knew this too, but the problem was that the other party had given far too much this time.
