Chapter 101 This Captain is No Fun
"Hey, who's that captain? He's wearing a uniform today, and he looks really handsome."
"You don't recognize him? Xiang Yun, such a handsome captain, and you're only meeting him today?"
Does he have a girlfriend?
"I don't think so, Songning, do you know?"
After going around in circles, the topic returned to Xiang Yun, and Xu Songning was asked about it again.
Xu Songning innocently raised his hand, "You're not going to make me ask again, are you?"
"Didn't you come together? You seem to know each other very well," everyone teased.
"No need to ask, he doesn't have a girlfriend, but..." Xu Songning drawled out the last syllable, drawing everyone's attention.
"You don't even want to talk about this?"
“This is rather boring. Look at him, he doesn’t sing or play anything, how boring is that?” Xu Songning said with a smile.
Suddenly, I felt a light tap on the top of my head.
She looked up and saw Xiang Yun's curled fingers.
"Who's the one being criticized?"
“We’re talking about Gu Xing,” Xu Songning decisively shifted the blame.
However, Xiang Yun had already been standing behind her and had overheard most of it. Knowing that she was joking, he didn't make things difficult for her and simply handed her his phone.
"There's a phone call."
Upon seeing the large characters "Qiao Qiao" on the screen, Xu Songning immediately jumped up, wiped his fingers clean, and went outside the private room to answer the phone.
The remaining few people made ambiguous sounds. No wonder he said it was boring. It turns out that they had all handed over their phones to him. How could he let others have their eyes on them?
The moment the door to the private room closed, it fell silent. She answered the phone, "Hey, Qiaoqiao, are you awake?"
Zhou Qiao's energetic voice came from the other end of the phone, "What? You're awake? I've been busy all day, how could I have time to sleep? Look at the time!"
"You're so busy, Mr. Zhou. Would you like to come over and relax? Don't be so tense all the time. You need to balance work and rest."
As Xu Songning spoke, he walked towards the restroom, his hands still feeling sticky after wiping them.
"I'm on my way. I can't dedicate all my youth to work; I have to spend some time with handsome guys too," Zhou Qiao said, yawning as she sat in the taxi.
"Are you so tired? Why don't you take a rest? You don't need to come over," Xu Songning said with concern.
Zhou Qiao immediately refused, "That won't do. I can sleep at night, but if I don't see handsome guys now, I might not get to see them next time."
"Okay, let me tell you, a Qatar Airways captain is here too. He's a typical handsome foreign guy, you've never seen anything like him before."
Xu Songning held the earphones between her shoulder and washed her hands. When she came out of the restroom, she saw a familiar figure at the door of a private room in the KTV. She recognized him just by looking at his muscular back, even though she hadn't seen him for a long time.
What a run of bad luck! Wasn't this nemesis supposed to be out of Shanghai? Why is he suddenly back? If Qiaoqiao runs into him later, won't she be walking into the lion's den?
"Really?! Why did it take you so long to introduce such a beauty to me? I'm coming right away!" Zhou Qiao's voice was loud, and her shout startled Xu Songning, who quickly covered the microphone.
"I'll talk to you later." Xu Songning hung up the phone hastily and left the place quickly.
After her figure disappeared, the man who had been facing away from her suddenly turned around, seemingly puzzled. There was clearly someone there just now, and the voice sounded somewhat familiar, but he disappeared as soon as he turned around. Did he hallucinate?
"Qin You, are you even listening to me?" The agent sighed, rubbing his forehead.
Qin You put his hands in his pockets and nodded casually. "Go on."
The manager was utterly exasperated. "Can't you stop being so willful? You run back to Shanghai over such a small thing. Do you know that the rest of the band has to pay the price for your reckless behavior? The show starts in just one day. Do you think you'll have enough time to rehearse tonight? Do you think you're doing justice to everyone else's hard work?"
"I've already said I'm fully confident I can cooperate with them, what more do you want from me?" Qin You said impatiently.
"What if something goes wrong? Who will take responsibility? You found all the band members yourself. Don't you think you're treating the performance too lightly?" The manager was trembling with anger.
Soon, she remembered that she hadn't sought out Qin You just to criticize him. There was an investor in Shanghai who planned to invest in their band's future development, and this was a good opportunity to introduce Qin You to him.
So the agent gently persuaded him, "Qin You, I didn't tell them the truth. I said you came to Shanghai to meet with investors to discuss projects, and there is indeed such an investor. Come on, come with me to meet him."
Qin You scoffed and took a step back. "Another drinking session? I formed a band to fulfill my dreams, not to be a drinking companion! Even without these damn investors, I can still achieve my goals!"
The manager glared at him, opened his briefcase, pulled out a stack of reports, and slammed them down in front of him with a fierce gesture. "Qin You! Do you think the band can survive on the money they earn from performances?! Aren't you being incredibly naive? If it weren't for... if it weren't for my friend's initial investment, how far do you think your dream could have lasted?"
"Can your arrogance support your dreams? Money! Let me tell you, if you dare to leave today, the band will disband tomorrow! I'm not playing along! Even if I misjudged you back then, your band has no future!" The manager completely lost his temper, threw a pile of reports at him, and left without looking back.
Qin You stood there, the white paper falling from the sky, both light and heavy, settling on his heart.
He crouched down and picked up the papers.
The paper recorded their expenses for each performance, including airfare, hotel accommodations, practice rooms, and moving costs, as well as the cost of some musical instruments. He was shocked just by glancing at the total figures.
The agent never mentioned these expenses to him, nor did he ask. He simply left his card with the agent, and whatever he wanted to spend was processed through his account.
Qin You is one of the band's owners. The other owner is a friend of the manager, who has never appeared in public. The two owners split the band's expenses equally.
Initially, the expenses weren't that high. Qin You wanted to organize a band tour, and small-scale concerts didn't cost much. As the band's popularity grew, the demand for venues and the expenses for members also increased.
The profits have to be shared with the band members, and the rest goes back into the band's daily expenses. The manager's assessment that the band has no future is truly heartfelt.
Many investors actually saw the commercial value in Qin You's face, but Qin You was unwilling. He was as stubborn as a mule; once he was unwilling, no one could sway him.
With only one or two people in his manager's office, and such a great opportunity right in front of him, asking him to go out for a drink and sing a song to secure investment, Young Master Qin was unwilling again.
Forget it, if you don't want to do it, then don't. The earth won't explode if anyone is missing.
Let's all perish together with our dreams tomorrow!
