Chapter 109 The Smelly Brother Never Smells as Good as the Older Brother

Chapter 109 The younger brother smells better than the older brother

"You've made me completely stop worrying about Xiang Yun and X." Xu Songning gave a thumbs up, his face calm, and clapped his hands slowly.

"Zhou Qiao, you're something else. A band, your ex-boyfriend's band, and you just invest like that? Aren't you afraid of ruining the bar?"

"No way, I've already made a profit! Besides, the investment was agreed upon a long time ago. We broke up later, and I just never intended to kick someone when they were down and take back my investment," Zhou Qiao muttered to herself.

She was clearly still a little guilty; she hadn't thought much about it when she invested the money.

When she learned that Qin You was facing setbacks everywhere in forming his band and didn't have enough start-up funds, and had to ask for help, she couldn't bear to see him throw away his arrogance first.

She secretly contacted Qian Shanshan, who was involved in the industry. After listening to her introduction, Shanshan felt that this project was worth investing in and she was willing to lead the team.

So Zhou Qiao invested her money without hesitation. She only contributed one-third of the funds, while Qin You contributed the majority himself. When Qian Shanshan talked to him, he made it clear that he wanted to take the lead in the band's affairs and did not want anyone else to have half of the shares.

With the funds to solve their immediate crisis and a manager coming to their door, Qin You's band was finally on the right track.

What I didn't expect was that after the band got on track, the first thing they did was break up.

After the breakup, Zhou Qiao could have easily taken the money back and stopped investing, but she didn't. Even though they couldn't be a couple anymore, she still believed that this was a project that could make money.

Sure enough, in a short period of time, the band's earnings exceeded her expectations.

But what was painful for her was that she had to deal with Qin You's news again and again. She knew exactly which city he went to, which venue he performed at, and what songs he sang.

Gradually, she became desensitized to it and was able to watch his videos and listen to his songs without any reaction, and comment on them: "He sings well, no wonder it's a project I've been rooting for."

Xu Songning remained silent for a long time, slowly processing what she had just said.

Zhou Qiao didn't rely on her family's bar; she got to where she is today step by step on her own. She understands the difficulties of starting a business better than anyone else, and she values the bar more than anything else, yet she still took the risk of investing in Qin You.

But it also pushes Qin You himself far away. Love is really strange. When it happens to each person, it is strange in a different way, but it is also true love.

Without love, there wouldn't be so many inexplicable impulses that would make someone dare to entrust their entire life to another.

"Alright, as long as you know what you're doing. You've always been a very reliable person, at least that's what I think. Don't hurt yourself too much; you're torturing yourself a bit," Xu Songning sighed softly.

Zhou Qiao shrugged, looking indifferent. "Hey, I'm just treating it like a project right now. Who wants to waste their youth on a brat like me? Isn't an older guy more appealing?"

"Let's go back to the bar first."

As the number of cars on the road decreased, their parking on the side of the road became somewhat conspicuous.

The two listened to the music playing in the car, each lost in their own thoughts, and silently returned to the bar.

The employees greeted the boss warmly, and some even tried to tempt Zhou Qiao with drinks, only to be driven away by a sharp look from Xu Songning.

"For the next two months, anyone who dares to drink with your boss will have their salary docked! Even her demands won't work; those who effectively supervise will receive bonuses."

"Wow! Thank you, Sister Xu!" the employees cheered.

"Sister Xu, why do you say the same thing as that handsome guy?"

"Which handsome guy?" Xu Songning asked warily.

Zhou Qiao covered her face, feeling that she, as the boss, was being utterly disgraced by these two strict people.

"Ah, a handsome guy wearing a black mask. I can't see his face, but he looks familiar."

Xu Songning chuckled inwardly. It was more than just familiarity; you'd probably even heard his songs.

Finally, someone can teach the unruly Zhou Qiao a lesson. Everyone is happy that the boss has quit drinking. The employees no longer have to keep an eye on her to see how many bottles of wine she takes and secretly "report the loss" for her.

The only victim was Zhou Qiao.

At 2:30 a.m., the bar had quieted down and the staff were doing the final cleaning.

Zhou Qiao's room upstairs was quite large, designed as a two-bedroom, two-living room apartment, and the two of them washed up in Zhou Qiao's room.

There are two sinks, and each person stands in front of the mirror brushing their teeth, holding a toothbrush in their mouth.

Zhou Qiao's movements are slower because one of her hands is not very convenient.

The cell phone in the room suddenly rang, its piercing ringtone like a midnight horror movie, sending chills down one's spine.

"What kind of lousy ringtone is this? Can you please change it right now? Won't you be scared when you wake up and hear this ringtone?" Xu Songning frowned.

"Songning, take a look at who it is for me." Zhou Qiao's mouth was full of foam, and her words were muffled.

Without needing to understand her words, Xu Songning had already reached her breaking point with the ringing of her phone. She grabbed the phone and glanced at it, her eyelids twitching.

"Qin You, should I answer?"

Zhou Qiao stood there in a daze for a while. Xu Songning moved the noisy phone away from his ear. "Are you going to answer or not? If you don't, I'm hanging up."

"I won't answer," Zhou Qiao said.

Xu Songning nodded, swiped to unlock his phone, held it to his ear, and spoke first, "This is Xu Songning. Have you logged off?"

There was silence on the other end; no one spoke for a long time, only heavy breathing could be heard. It was probably because Xu Songning had blocked all the words he wanted to say.

"Okay, I'll hang up then. Don't call again unless it's absolutely necessary. She needs to rest properly because of her hand injury."

He hung up the phone decisively.

Zhou Qiao stared at Xu Songning in shock, "You... didn't I say I wouldn't answer?"

"Can you really rest easy if I don't answer? Alright, he's already off the plane. I heard the announcement from the airport. Can you sleep peacefully now?" Xu Songning put down his phone.

Zhou Qiao remained silent, turned around, slowly brushed her teeth, washed her face by herself, and lay down next to Xu Songning.

She looked at Xu Songning's gentle profile and asked softly, "Won't you have trouble sleeping?"

"I'll catch up on sleep tomorrow since I don't have to go to work." Xu Songning turned off the overhead light, leaving a small nightlight on Zhou Qiao's side.

Zhou Qiao was exhausted after a long day. Upon learning that Qin You had landed, she fell into a deep sleep.

Xu Songning wasn't sleepy yet. She opened WeChat and sent a message to Xiang Yun after arriving at the bar to let him know she was safe.

Xiang Yun hadn't replied, which made her a little nervous. She was unsure if what she had been hiding had been exposed. Surely not. How could they be sure it was her based on just a vague photo?

Xu Songning slept very lightly that night.

Actually, having another person around didn't completely affect her sleep, but it prevented her from getting a deep sleep. In addition, she was worried that Zhou Qiao might roll over and press on her hand, or that it would be inconvenient for her to get up at night, so she had something on her mind.

She is easily awakened by the slightest sound or disturbance.

She woke up twice during the night, instinctively reaching for her phone to check messages, but Xiang Yun still hadn't replied. She tossed and turned before finally falling back asleep.

After she fell asleep, Zhou Qiao's phone screen suddenly lit up.
