Chapter 119 Model Workers

Chapter 119 Model Worker

"Hmm, you just got off work too?" Xiang Yun walked over and glanced at her yellow and white shoes. "Did you step in a mud puddle?"

Xu Songning lifted her foot, the mud soles of which were thickly stuck to the shoe. Although a lot of mud was pried off, she still brought back quite a few "souvenirs".

"It's like stepping into a mud pit," Xu Songning sighed.

Suddenly, she remembered something important and pointed to the air, "Sanhua's brother, have you forgotten about Sanhua? It's been so long, and you haven't come with me to see it."

Xiang Yun pressed his temples, looking exhausted. "I can't forget it, but this month has been too busy. I'll be spending a lot of time away from home for the next two weeks, and things won't get any easier until around May."

"You don't look well." Xu Songning took a step forward and gently approached. At their distance, Xu Songning could clearly see the fine downy hairs on Xiang Yun's face and the light blue under his eyes.

Their breaths brushed against each other's faces, neither of them actively creating distance. At such close range, Xu Songning could smell the intoxicating woody scent emanating from him.

Just like the smell she usually smells.

What kind of perfume is this man wearing? How can he so easily charm her?

"I've been flying quite a bit lately, with a lot of missions scheduled. I've flown 85 hours and 36 minutes this month," Xiang Yun said softly.

Xu Songning slightly raised her eyes, and their gazes met. "You're such a hard worker, Yun-ge, are you going to make all the company's money?"

"There's nothing I can do about the company's arrangements," Xiang Yun said with a wry smile. "Several night shifts, flights at 5 a.m., I have to leave at 3 a.m."

With their workdays and nights reversed, air traffic controllers are incredibly empathetic towards the pilots.

"Wait a minute, I'll get you something." Xu Songning stepped back and opened his front door.

The fragrance lingering around Xiang Yun's nose dissipated as she turned to leave; it was the scent of her hair.

Xiang Yun thought that she didn't seem to use perfume often, and she was even more serious about her work environment, never casually applying perfume.

The fragrance he could smell came from her hair, the scent of freesia.

Soon, Xu Songning turned back, holding a cup of warm honey water in her hand, and a transparent bag hanging from her finger containing a jar of honey.

"The natural honey my mom brought back was all hand-picked from the honeycomb. Ms. Xu carefully selected it, so it's trustworthy."

"No……"

"No, no, if you don't accept it, I'll hang it on your door." Xu Songning threatened, shoving the cup into his hand.

Xiang Yun had no choice but to accept. With both hands full, he stepped aside, revealing his front door. "Okay, Sister Xu, please put them inside for me. Don't hang them on the door."

His door had a combination lock, and Xu Songning asked him, "What's the password?"

Xiang Yun opened his mouth, hesitated for a second, and didn't say anything.

Seeing that he hadn't spoken for a long time, Xu Songning turned her head to look at him and saw that he was in a daze with his earlobes slightly red.

"What's wrong? What's the password?"

"It's nothing, just hurry up with the fingerprint scan."

Xiang Yun put his suitcase away and pressed his thumb on the sensor.

"Beep beep!"

The red light is flashing, and the fingerprint is incorrect.

Xu Songning added, "The password seems to be faster."

"Ahem." Xiang Yun coughed lightly to cover up his discomfort, then pressed his thumb again. This time, the door finally opened with a satisfying thud.

Xu Songning walked in with practiced ease and put the honey in the refrigerator. "Drinking some honey water before bed helps with sleep. We civil aviation workers really do try every possible way to improve our sleep. Sigh."

"Are you getting used to the pillow?" Xiang Yun put down his suitcase, took off his coat, and hung it on the tree-shaped coat rack by the door.

"I'm used to it, and it works quite well. Do you also use this pillow?" Xu Songning asked curiously.

"Didn't you sleep with him before?" Xiang Yun raised an eyebrow.

"You...cough cough cough..." Xu Songning almost bit his own tongue.

It wasn't just a pillow; a person slept on it too.

Xu Songning couldn't stand it anymore; it was getting too hot.

She closed the refrigerator door, turned around and left, her ears burning.

"Get some rest, Yun-ge."

Xiang Yun said through the closing door, "Goodnight."

"Good night," Xu Songning peeked out halfway before closing the door completely.

"Phew! I almost gave myself away."

While Xu Songning was taking a shower, Ms. Xu returned and put things in the refrigerator.

After taking a shower, Xu Songning hugged a pillow and went into her mother's room, where she lay on the bed reading the CEO romance novel her mother was reading.

"Aren't you afraid you won't sleep well?" Ms. Xu gently patted her daughter's back through the blanket.

Xu Songning crawled inside and lay down on the other side, "Let's test the latest sleep patterns."

Ms. Xu climbed into bed and turned off the light.

In the darkness, only long, drawn-out breaths remained.

With someone by her side, Xu Songning had a rare good night's sleep. She had thought she would be too anxious to sleep, since someone she knew was about to leave again.

When she woke up, Ms. Xu had already prepared breakfast for her.

She glanced at the time and realized she didn't have time for breakfast, so she packed it up to take away. Her mother kept reminding her to eat.

She was busy until 1 p.m. before she had time to eat.

People lose their appetite as soon as the weather gets hot.

After quickly eating a couple of bites, Ms. Xu received a message on her phone that she had arrived.

Xu Songning waited for Ms. Xu at the security checkpoint.

There weren't many passengers at this spot, and Xu Songning spotted Ms. Xu, dressed in bright colors, in the crowd at a glance.

But it wasn't just Ms. Xu; there was also Xiang Yun in a uniform.

"Mom, Yun-ge, why did you come together?" Xu Songning asked in surprise.

Ms. Xu smiled happily and gave her daughter an opportunity, saying, "I just went out and ran into Xiao Xiang, who was also going to work. He insisted on giving me a ride. You should remember to return the favor."

"Auntie, it's just on my way, it's not a favor. You two chat, I'll go do some pre-flight preparations." Xiang Yun held a tablet in her hand.

"Thanks, Brother Yun." Xu Songning waved goodbye to him.

The mother and daughter had already said everything they needed to say at home; before parting, it was nothing more than their usual words of advice.

Before boarding, Ms. Xu held her daughter's hand and whispered, "You must seize the opportunity, sweetie."

"Okay, I understand." Xu Songning hugged her mother, and the two parted reluctantly.

She stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, watching her mother leave.

Her phone alarm went off, and it was almost time for her shift. Squeezing all her emotions out of her head, she patted her cheeks, grabbed her earphones, and rushed off to the battlefield.

This shift went on until late at night again.

When she got home, she was all alone again.

I changed my shoes and turned on the living room lights.

She suddenly felt that the decorating style was too cold and austere; the black and white tones looked cold and desolate.

Her mother left, and Sanhua was given away; a feeling of loneliness instantly enveloped her.

Xu Songning lay on the sofa, her mind in turmoil.

"Knock knock knock".

A knock on the door woke her from her drowsy sleep.
