Chapter 130 Bullying Me
Cheng Jianming frowned. He had a lot to say, but he wasn't a talkative person, nor was he as eloquent as Xu Songning.
He remembered that when he was Xu Songning's teacher, the young girl was still very inexperienced. She would never speak to him so rudely, but would respectfully call him "Master," listen attentively to his teachings, and study very hard.
Cheng Jianming had to admit that Xu Songning was the smartest and most capable of executing his orders among all the apprentices he had brought along.
If it weren't for that incident back then, the two might still be good friends and mentors, and Xu Songning would have visited him as always instead of finding various reasons to refuse to see him again.
He did indeed trick people into coming to this presentation.
He had kept some things to himself for years, and if he didn't say them soon, he had a premonition that his once most prized disciple would never speak to him again.
Xu Songning walked silently down the corridor, glancing at the classroom as she passed by.
The blackboard in the classroom wasn't erased, but someone added a stroke to the bottom of the Airbus logo.
At this moment, it's a tie again.
She couldn't care less whose prank it was; she just wanted to get through this as quickly as possible and leave the school. Maybe agreeing to give the presentation was a mistake.
Cheng Jianming couldn't keep up with the younger people's stamina, and coupled with his poor health, he would get out of breath if he walked too fast.
Hearing the panting behind her, Xu Songning slowed down a bit. She didn't want to see Teacher Cheng collapse in front of her; she was responsible for getting him to the hospital.
Xu Songning's car was parked in the garage. She didn't let Cheng Jianming come with her again. Seeing how much effort he was putting in, she felt a little reluctant to mistreat an elderly person.
As the car drove by, Cheng Jianming glanced at the car logo and was slightly surprised.
"You...cough cough cough, your car..."
Xu Songning seemed to know what he was going to say. "I just think it looks good, I have no other thoughts, and it has nothing to do with him. Teacher Cheng, if you still want to have this meal, let's not mention that spoils the mood anymore."
“But I have to mention it.” Cheng Jianming sat in the passenger seat and sighed deeply, “Songning, I’m getting old, you can tell, right?”
Cheng Jianming is about the same age as Ms. Xu, but the marks left by illness are very heavy on his body. His temples are slightly gray, his face is wrinkled, and the back of his hands is starting to dry up, all showing his exhaustion.
Xu Songning didn't respond. She disliked discussing such topics. Aging is a natural phenomenon, and she was still young, so it was easy for her to overlook the passage of time, but people kept reminding her.
Song Ning, time flies so fast, we've all grown old.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Cheng Jianming prepared what he was going to say.
He was, after all, a chauvinist. Even though he regretted what he said every time after that incident, he hesitated when it came to actually saying it.
After all, he was so much older than Xu Songning, after all, he was her master, after all... sigh, making him admit his mistakes was such a torturous thing.
Xu Songning noticed the other person's gaze and felt uneasy.
As the car drove out of the school gate, she realized she hadn't set a destination at all. Reluctantly, she asked, "What's the address?"
“Songning, Master was wrong about what he said back then.” Cheng Jianming’s words almost came out after her.
The car fell silent for a moment.
The car behind honked a few times, and Cheng Jianming gave the name of a restaurant. Xu Songning then silently drove off.
Xu Songning felt a mix of emotions. What did Cheng Jianming mean by this? That he would tell her years later that he had made a mistake in what he said back then?
Does he genuinely feel he said something wrong, or has he compromised?
Cheng Jianming is not someone who can compromise, and she knows that better than anyone else.
"What does this mean?" Xu Songning asked him.
Cheng Jianming sat upright, like a statue. After speaking, he felt much lighter, as if the weight on his heart had been lifted.
Faced with Xu Songning's question, he was momentarily embarrassed and repeated, "I just said it wrong."
Xu Songning chuckled. The restaurant wasn't far. She parked the car, and neither of them got out. Xu Songning gripped the steering wheel, tapping her fingers on it impatiently a few times.
"so what?"
"So?" Cheng Jianming was stumped by her question. Yes, what kind of result did he want?
Xu Songning touched the steering wheel, casually dusted it off, and spoke lightly, but his heart was heavy.
"Master."
She no longer called him Teacher Cheng in a confrontational manner, but this long-lost address of "Master" made Cheng Jianming dare not respond.
“When Cheng Ou and I were together, I didn’t know you were his uncle, and I never thought of using his connections to ask you to take care of me. I know you’re not in good health, and I never wanted to trouble you. What he said to you was his opinion, and it has nothing to do with me.”
Cheng Jianming felt extremely upset. He nodded hesitantly, "You're a good kid. I misunderstood."
Back then, Cheng Ou, that unreliable person, was dating Xu Songning. After learning that his uncle was Xu Songning's mentor, he secretly told Cheng Jianming to take good care of her.
Cheng Jianming never liked dealing with such social niceties in private. Regardless of Xu Songning's identity, as long as he was his apprentice, he would teach him well.
However, Cheng Ou praised Xu Songning to the skies in front of him and sent him a lot of gifts, which annoyed Cheng Jianming. He asked him whose idea it was.
In order to make a good impression on the elders, Cheng Ou quickly said that it was Xu Songning's idea.
This really got Xu Songning into trouble. It happened to be the rainy season, and Xu Songning often worked overtime. He was under a lot of pressure, and his throat tightened from the tension, and his stomach acid kept churning up.
One early morning after get off work, she was squatting by the door with a stomachache, sweating profusely. When she saw her master, she thought she had met a savior, but instead she was scolded by her master for no reason. He told her to focus on her work instead of trying to please others.
The pressure immediately shot up her spine, climbed up her spine to her brain, and throbbed in her weak stomach.
Before Cheng Jianming could finish cursing, Xu Songning turned around and ran to the toilet. She hugged the toilet and vomited everything in her stomach. The stomach acid burned her throat, and she immediately fell ill and collapsed.
Cheng Jianming was quickly transferred to another post and left the airport. Xu Songning never understood where that scolding came from or what Cheng Jianming meant by those words.
It wasn't until Cheng Ou took her to meet his family that she saw her master, Cheng Jianming, at the family banquet. Cheng Jianming was not surprised at all by her arrival.
When she saw Cheng Ou thanking Cheng Jianming for his care, she understood the reason for the scolding.
"Misunderstanding? You just don't believe me. I've come to realize it later. You two are blood relatives after all. If you don't believe him, who else can you believe?" Xu Songning said coldly.
"I..." Cheng Jianming couldn't defend himself and gradually fell silent.
“Actually, I stopped caring about this a long time ago, Master. Do you think I’m still holding a grudge because of your unwarranted scolding? Actually, no, I’ve long forgotten about it. But I still remember the day I broke up with Cheng Ou. Master, how could you join Cheng Ou in bullying me?” Xu Songning said softly.
