Chapter 140 Shattered
Xu Songning stood silently in place, pondering the matter of the watch.
Xiang Yun seemed to realize that the person behind him hadn't left. He turned around and saw that Xu Songning was still there, but he wasn't looking at him. His gaze was fixed on the ground, and it was unclear what he was thinking.
He noticed that the watch face was not in the right position, so he quietly moved the watch strap again.
"What's wrong?"
Xu Songning snapped out of her daze, her gaze gradually focusing, and casually made up an excuse, "I was wondering, where did the bracelet go?"
"Here." Seeing that she didn't ask about the watch, Xiang Yun naturally tossed the bracelet to her.
Xu Songning caught the bracelet and, without lingering, went straight to get her things and change her clothes.
Seeing that she had really left this time, Xiang Yun breathed a sigh of relief, took off his watch, and examined it carefully under the light.
The crack was quite obvious; the glass shattered completely, cutting the round glass dial into two irregular semicircles. The glass was of good quality; it was only internally shattered, not exploded.
If he still wants to wear the watch outside, the watch face glass will have to be replaced.
However, the original glass for this watch cannot be replaced domestically; the dial must be repaired overseas.
He couldn't travel abroad to get it repaired himself, but he had already chosen someone to fix the watch.
The phone rang more than a dozen times before being answered. The person on the other end spoke with a thick nasal voice, mumbling a few meaningless syllables.
"Gu Xing."
"Um--"
"Gu Xing, your secret stash of money has been raided."
"Huh—huh?!! What?!" Gu Xing suddenly jumped up from the bed. When he opened his eyes, it was still pitch black outside.
Seeing that he was awake, Xiang Yun got down to business, "Take my watch out and get it repaired."
"A watch? What watch? Weren't we just talking about my secret stash? You've revealed it to me?!" Gu Xing cursed.
"No."
"If you didn't, why did you call me in the middle of the night? I'm going to sleep, please stop bothering me so late at night! Control your admiration for my handsome face." Gu Xing yawned. This presumptuous guy, doesn't he know how to leave me a message?
"Now that you're awake, listen to my story first."
The only response Xiang Yun received was Gu Xing's even breathing.
Sometimes I really envy Gu Xingzhu's ability to sleep like a pig. No matter how noisy the environment, whether it's a KTV with howling ghosts, an airport with roaring airplanes, or a vegetable market, he can still fall asleep.
He can sleep anytime, anywhere, whenever he wants.
Xiang Yun sighed, took a picture of the watch face, and sent it over.
He put the watch into a storage bag, knowing he couldn't wear it on the street, as Xu Songning might see it. If she saw the broken watch face, she would definitely be heartbroken again.
Xiang Yun rotated his wrist and felt okay; it didn't hurt. He'd hit the rock face earlier, but thankfully the watch face cushioned the impact.
When Gu Xing bought this watch, he said he was wasting money on such an expensive one, but now it seems that it was indeed better to buy a more expensive one, at least so that Sister Xu wouldn't be heartbroken again.
He didn't even dare to think about it. If her hand were really injured, would Sister Xu burst into tears on the spot? Probably not. Sister Xu is such a strong person; she doesn't seem like someone who would cry easily.
He was startled when he saw Xu Songning's red eyes.
After the two changed their clothes and returned to the car, Xu Songning glanced at his hands.
Sure enough, although he covered it with his long sleeves, you could see that his wrists were bare; his watch had been removed.
"What's wrong?" Xiang Yun felt a little guilty after being stared at by her.
Xu Songning said softly, not very interested, "It's nothing, I just thought your shirt looked nice, so I took a second look."
Such an unexpected tone! If it were before, when he was wearing a tight-fitting shirt, his tone would have been one of eagerness to touch her.
Hearing her listless tone now, Xiang Yun felt a pang in his heart. Xu Songning was worried about him, and he also felt a little sorry for her.
It seems that the near-injury of her hand is a bigger trauma for her than the near-injury she herself had.
Does that mean he can interpret it as Xu Songning actually having feelings for him?
Xiang Yun wasn't stupid; he could certainly see Xu Songning's little schemes for him. But was it just a passing fancy or something she truly meant? He needed time to figure it out.
He didn't like to joke about feelings, especially since Xu Songning was still a suspect to him. Was Lily really her? If she was, she should have discovered that he was X long ago, since he had revealed far more information about himself to Lily than Lily had left for him.
If so, why not clarify the relationship with him?
If not... In fact, he had almost never considered this possibility. In his heart, Xu Songning was already 80% the same as Lily.
His male intuition made him wary, but being by Xu Songning's side made him feel exceptionally relaxed, so much so that he hadn't explored the matter for a long time.
Although the two were interested in each other, Xiang Yun felt that this matter was very important, and he had to figure it out before he could face Xu Songning and Lili with a clear conscience.
He had to go to the "Freedom" bar again to look for clues. This time, he would bring Xu Songning with him so he could test her attitude.
“It’s too early to go back now. We’ll be passing Zhou Qiao’s bar along the way. How about we grab something to eat?” Xiang Yun suggested.
Xu Songning was still listless, but when she heard that she was going to Zhou Qiao's place, she remembered that Zhou Qiao had broken her bone and should have some suitable medicine to apply, so she immediately agreed, "Okay!"
The car turned and headed towards the bar.
At this hour, the bar wasn't crowded, and the resident singer hadn't arrived yet. Zhou Qiao was nowhere to be seen. When the waiter saw Xu Songning, he greeted her and whistled when he saw the man behind her.
"Too much free time? Deduct my salary." Xu Songning pointed at the male waiter.
"Sister Xu, no! I was actually whistling at the person behind you, do you believe me?"
Xu Songning turned around and just then a muscular man walked by. She smiled and deliberately chimed in, "You have quite the unique taste."
"Yes, yes, yes." The waiter looked even more uncomfortable than if he had swallowed a fly.
"Where's your boss?" Xu Songning glanced upstairs.
Xiang Yun followed her gaze upwards and casually asked, "Does Zhou Qiao live upstairs?"
"Yes, our boss has set up a few rooms upstairs, but he doesn't open them to outsiders easily. Sister Xu and Sister Lu occasionally stay here for one night." The male waiter scratched his head and looked around. "The boss was just nearby a moment ago."
"It's okay, no rush. I'll eat something first." Xu Songning pulled out a menu.
"You have a room here too?" Xiang Yun asked, seemingly casually, as he sat down next to her.
Xu Songning thought to herself, "So they've come!" Xiang Yun still suspected her, despite the many suspicious points, he just wouldn't give up. Luckily, she had already had the room cleaned up and all the decorations from that day removed; it should be similar to the other ordinary rooms now.
"It's not my room. I just come here to stay one night occasionally. The rooms upstairs are for guests who are drunk and have no one to take them away, university singers who can't go back to school that day, some collaborators, and of course, Lu Xiaomeng and I," Xu Songning explained.
Xiang Yun then inquired, "What if the singer and their collaborators have men in their party? Can they still stay there?"
