Chapter 47 I hope you have some explanation for the "scumbag" thing.
"Xiang... Xiang Yun." Xu Songning stammered as she pronounced his name. It was just two words, and she, who could command an airplane without ever getting stuck, actually stuttered.
Xiang Yun held a cigarette in one hand and a lighter in the other. When he saw her, he didn't show any expression, but just nodded slightly as a greeting. The two seemed to have returned to being strangers.
"Excuse me." Xiang Yun coldly raised his hand, gesturing for Xu Songning to move aside.
Xu Songning stepped aside. He was dressed in all black today, which made him seem unapproachable. Only then did Xu Songning realize that the gentle Xiang Yun was actually a limited edition. He wasn't gentle to everyone. When he didn't want to get close to you, he was so cold that it gave you goosebumps.
Xiang Yun walked towards the smoking area, followed by the sound of high heels. He didn't turn around, but stood in the empty smoking area and lit a cigarette.
“Brother Yun, you…” Xu Songning had just opened her mouth when she saw the man turn around, a cigarette between his thin lips, his eyes looking at her coldly. He leaned slightly forward, the smoke from the cigarette blowing onto her face, and the man wickedly raised his lips.
That smile vanished in an instant. As Xu Songning raised his hand to wave his cigarette, Xiang Yun straightened up and distanced himself from him.
Xiang Yun stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and said emotionlessly, "May scumbags be struck by lightning?"
He actually saw the message, and he really didn't intend to talk to her or go home.
"I can explain that. You haven't been home, and I haven't been able to find your contact information," Xu Songning quickly explained.
"Gu Xing, didn't you? Didn't Lu Xiaomeng add him at her birthday party?" Xiang Yun took a step closer, looking down at her beautiful long hair. "You want to explain, but you're not sincere, are you? Are you afraid of losing face by contacting Gu Xing?"
"I..." Xu Songning lowered her head slightly, clutching the hem of her skirt and muttering softly, "It's very embarrassing."
A soft laugh came from above. Xu Songning looked up, thinking he had misheard, but Xiang Yun did laugh. It wasn't a mocking laugh, but a relaxed laugh. His cold, icy exterior melted, revealing a gentle touch.
"You think it's shameful to call me a scumbag? I gave you a week to figure this out. Even if I hadn't run into you today, I would still be here to ask you, how exactly am I a scumbag? Don't lump me in with someone like Song Qing'an, okay? Xu Songning," Xiang Yun said softly.
Xu Songning looked at him and said, "If it were Song Qing'an, I wouldn't even bother to scold him."
"Then tell me, why are you cursing at me? I didn't even send a question mark, and I received a red exclamation mark." Xiang Yun opened his phone. He hadn't deleted the chat box; the chat history was still there.
A bright red exclamation mark at the bottom.
Xu Songning covered her face with her bag, revealing the red wine stains on her white dress.
How should she explain? Would Xiang Yun laugh at her if she told the truth? Would he realize she had feelings for him? Would he respond in this way? Would he reject her? Xiang Yun seemed like the kind of person who wouldn't bother someone he didn't like.
But is there anything about myself that makes me unlikable? I'm fine.
"Your skirt is dirty, stained with red wine?" Xiang Yun asked. She was wearing a white short skirt today, so he couldn't stare at it. But with just one glance, Xu Songning's straight and slender legs were etched into his mind.
"Ah..." Xu Songning's preconceived answer was interrupted. She responded, "It's red wine. Is it very obvious? I wonder if it can be wiped off."
"If you can't wipe it off, soak it in milk for an hour when you get home and then wash it," Xiang Yun said.
She then lowered her bag to cover the location of the red wine stain.
The red wine stain wasn't big, only about the size of a fingernail, but it stood out because she was wearing a white dress today.
"Wait for me a moment." Xiang Yun took a few steps, then turned back to look at her, his lips slightly pursed. "I hope that when I come back, Miss Xu will have an explanation for this scumbag incident."
Xu Songning thought to herself, "I really can't avoid this topic." She was also somewhat relieved; thankfully, they had run into each other today, otherwise, why wouldn't Xiang Yun have planned to go home?
Xiang Yun left for a few minutes and then returned. There was no one else in the smoking area, and Xu Songning was sitting in a chair waiting for him.
A silver brooch was handed to her, adorned with a strangely shaped flower, the silver twisted into the shape of an exquisitely blooming petal.
"Don't put it on your skirt, it should cover it up." Xiang Yun turned around.
Xu Songning was surprised, "This brooch wouldn't be..."
"What are you thinking? This is the brooch on my coat, my sister put it on." Xiang Yun had a headache.
"Oh~" Xu Songning was relieved and carefully pinned it to the red wine stain, which perfectly covered the mark. The faint red color peeked out from under the petals, as if adding color to the petals.
"Come sit down for a while, Yun-ge, standing is tiring." Xu Songning patted the soft cushion next to him.
Upon hearing this, Xiang Yun walked over and sat down, casually crossing his long legs like a model.
Isn't it normal to have feelings for him?
Xu Songning felt much more relaxed without needing to cover her skirt with a small bag. Leaning against the soft cushion, her cheeks were tinged with a thin layer of light red from the red wine. Her skin was fair, and her face looked as if she had applied a very natural blush.
"The day I insulted you, I saw you at the hospital with a girl in a wheelchair."
"You go to the hospital..."
"I accompanied my mom to her checkup. She's fine; she just needs some medicine to recover."
"That's good." Xiang Yun paused for a few seconds. "The person in the wheelchair you saw is my ex-girlfriend."
"Ex-girlfriend..." Xu Songning didn't know what to say for a moment. The two were indeed quite well-matched, and she seemed to be the type that Xiang Yun would like.
“We broke up six months ago. I told you the reason before: she couldn’t stand my job. Long-distance flights were torture for her. At the time, I was planning to switch to domestic flights for various reasons, but we broke up before I could do it. Later, her illness got worse and worse, and I realized that even if I kept flying domestic flights, we weren’t a good match. I couldn’t give her a sense of security.” Xiang Yun looked at the bustling night before him, his tone indifferent.
"After the breakup, I learned that her illness was getting worse. I helped her contact doctors and accompanied her to the hospital. But these things were only out of my guilt towards her. I should have taken her to see a doctor when we were together. After the breakup, I know I have no obligation to do so. But I was happy to know that she was no longer afraid to see a doctor. She asked me to go to the hospital with her, and I... agreed. But it was just for medical treatment. Nothing that crossed the boundaries of our relationship happened."
"You saw her hug me that day, right? It was just a matter of perspective. She didn't actually hug me, and she didn't mean anything by it. She was the one who broke up with me. She's never the type to regret things, otherwise I wouldn't have agreed to go with her to the doctor. This relationship is over, and that's it. I have no intention of clinging on."
Xu Songning listened, staring blankly at the scenery before him.
"So, now that you've heard this, what are your thoughts?" Xiang Yun asked.
