Chapter 1005: Terrified

After returning to Amman International Airport, the Boeing BBJ3 set off again, heading south across the Arabian Peninsula and the Red Sea, and finally landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, a country on the East African Plateau.

The reason they came here was that Yang Jing and Gege wanted to see the best wildlife reserve in the world, which was the famous Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve.

There are countless wildlife reserves around the world, but when it comes to the wildlife reserve with the most complete species and the most beautiful pristine scenery, it has to be the Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve.

The Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve is located in the southwest corner of Kenya. It is a wildlife paradise in Kenya and even in the whole of Africa. In this wildlife reserve, which is about the same size as the Sichuan Province of China, there are about 60 wildlife parks scattered around, of which 26 are national wildlife reserves.

The entire reserve consists of rolling hillsides, open grasslands, woodlands and riverine forests. This unique animal kingdom is the world's largest home to wild mammals, with 95 species of mammals and 450 species of birds. It is the most concentrated habitat for animals and the most colorful wilderness. Therefore, it is considered to be the most famous wildlife reserve in the world. Among the many wildlife reserves in Kenya, it can be called the "crown of the park."

There are four universally recognized attractions in Africa that you must visit: the Egyptian Pyramids, the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and the Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve in Kenya. This reserve is one of them.

After getting off the plane, the group drove six Land Cruisers westward and took more than five hours to arrive at Ololaimutiek, a small village about 200 kilometers away from Nairobi.

Ololaimutiek is a small village, a Maasai village. Don't miss this village, which is very famous. There are more than 20 star hotels and camping sites around this village.

Because this small village is right on the edge of the Masai Mara Wildlife Reserve, it is the best starting point and refueling point for self-driving tours of the reserve.

It was already evening when Yang Jing and his friends arrived at the village, but they did not stay in the hotel. Instead, they stayed at the Maasai Mara Manyatta camping site north of the village.

When you visit a place like this, you can enjoy the original ecology. Sleeping in a tent or RV at the campsite will allow you to best experience the primitive charm of the place.

The next morning, everyone set off with a local guide named Moussa, a local Maasai who could speak English and relied on this profession to support his family.

"Our village is close to the border between Kenya and Tanzania. About 180 kilometers west of our village is Lake Victoria. If you want to see the world's second largest freshwater lake, you can stay in Muhoro on the east side of the lake tonight, so that you will have plenty of time to visit the lake tomorrow. But at the same time, if you rush over tonight, you may not be able to see the most spectacular scenery of the reserve, which is the spectacular migration of millions of wildebeests." Musa, who was sitting in the co-pilot seat, said to Yang Jing and Gege while directing the road.

There is no asphalt or concrete road from the campsite to the reserve, all of them are dirt roads pressed by vehicles. And because tourists go to different places to see wild animals, there are many dirt roads, and each dirt road leads to a different place.

Here, you can see small groups of zebras and wildebeests at will. On the African savannah, zebras and wildebeests always stay together, even during the great migration.

This situation is very much like an interracial relationship...

"Thank you for your reminder, Musa, but we plan to stay in the reserve for two or three days. After we have visited the reserve, we will go to the big lake to take a look."

"Haha, your choice is correct. If nothing goes wrong, you will be able to see the spectacular sight of the wildebeest migration in the next few days."

Hearing what Musa said, Gege asked curiously, "Musa, doesn't the wildebeest migration start in late October every year? It's only mid-October now. Could it be that the wildebeests have already gathered by now?"

"You're right, but the situation this year is a little special." Musa said, "This summer, the rainfall in our country is much less than usual, so the dry season came more than ten days earlier than in previous years. These lovely elves are most sensitive to climate changes, so they have already prepared for the 800-kilometer migration."

Kenya is an equatorial country, with the equator running through the south-central part of the country. Therefore, in June every year, the Serengeti grasslands covering southern Kenya and northern Tanzania enter the dry season. At this time, millions of wildebeests begin to migrate north in groups.

This mighty army of animals sometimes stretches for more than ten kilometers, and the migration distance is as long as 800 kilometers. Along the way, there are many zebras, Thompson's gazelles and African buffaloes joining in. In June, the Masai Mara grassland is in the rainy season, and the lush grass and water are just right for feeding these natural hikers.

But in late October, drought began to hit Masai Mara, and the wildebeest army had to march south and return to the Serengeti grasslands in Tanzania to wait for the rainy season. This song of grassland wandering, which is performed regularly year after year, has become the largest animal migration on the earth today.
