Chapter 180: It's terrible to be uneducated

At this time, the owner of the tricycle stall sent away a customer who had just bought a set of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" from the owner. He didn't know which version it was, but he spent thirty yuan.

When the boss has time, he will naturally greet Yang Jing.

"What did you fancy, little brother?"

Yang Jing pointed to a large badge hanging in the middle of another piece of plywood and asked, "How much is this badge?"

"Oh, you're talking about this! This is not cheap, it's 180. If you want to buy this badge, the cheapest price cannot be less than 600."

The so-called 180 is a nickname for three milestone badges in the circle. This steel badge has a diameter of 180 mm, so it is affectionately called 180 by collectors.

Yang Jing nodded secretly. This price was not expensive. The 180 badge was recognized as one of the "Ten Famous Badges" of Taizu badges by later generations. In 1993, the 180 badge could be sold for about 300 yuan. In 1995, the price of the 180 badge rose to 900 yuan. In 1998, the price rose directly to 3,600 yuan. In 2017, the price of a 180 badge was about 5,000 yuan.

It is now 1994, and selling a 180-yuan badge for six hundred yuan is really not expensive.

Yang Jing casually asked about a few badges. Some of these badges were placed in the middle, and some were placed on the edge. The prices varied, but generally speaking, the badges placed in the middle were obviously more expensive.

Yang Jing also discovered a phenomenon, that is, several badges that were sold for thousands of yuan in later generations are not expensive now. And they have not started to increase in price like the 180 yuan badge just now.

In other words, some badges that are quite valuable in later generations have not started to increase in price now, and it may take a few more years for such badges to increase in price.

Yang Jing pointed at the large luminous badge and asked, "Boss, how much is this badge? I see this badge can even fluoresce, it's quite rare. If the price is right, I'll buy it." Yang Jing had just used the holy ring to identify it, and it was a real large luminous badge.

When the stall owner saw the large luminous badge Yang Jing pointed at, he smiled and said, "You mean this badge? This badge is cheap. If you want it, it's 160 yuan."

Yang Jing was excited when he heard the price. Obviously, his inference was probably correct. The badges in later generations that cost tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of yuan have not started to rise in price in this era. Perhaps the price of such badges will only rise wildly when people realize that the number of such badges is too small. But now, due to the underdeveloped information and the limited living standards, such badges have not started to rise wildly.

"This price is a bit high, can it be cheaper?"

"It's not that cheap. I'm just a small business. I can't make much money from selling a badge. If you want it, I'll give you a couple of dollars off."

"One hundred and fifty? I'll pay one hundred and fifty and take it away immediately!" Yang Jing didn't want to bargain anymore. A badge of the great ancestor that would be worth over a million in 23 years was now priced at one hundred and sixty. Is there anything cheaper than this in the world? If Yang Jing hadn't become accustomed to bargaining, he really wouldn't have bargained.

The boss thought about it, nodded and said, "Okay, we're opening early in the morning, so we'll give you a discount. One hundred and fifty, deal."

A badge that would be worth over a million in twenty-three years was bought by Yang Jing at a price of one hundred and fifty yuan...

However, Yang Jing did not leave, because when the boss was wrapping the badge, Yang Jing's attention was attracted by a book.

It was a copy of Selected Works of Mao Zedong, about seven centimeters thick, with a cover made of extremely rare red velvet.

When Yang Jing saw this cover of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong", his heart couldn't help but beat wildly.

Picking up the well-preserved "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" with a quality of at least 8.5, Yang Jing immediately confirmed the true identity of the book by looking at it under the light.

This "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" with a red velvet cover is 32-page, with yellow earth paper inside, and the words "Edited and published by Jinchaji Daily" printed on the spine. Open the red velvet cover, and the first page is printed with a black and white portrait of Taizu, and below the portrait is "Comrade *****, the leader of the Chinese people" (PS: I really dare not change this part, and there is no way to change it...).

Obviously, this book should be the earliest Chinese version of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong"!

According to statistics from later generations, there are 84 different languages and more than 8,300 different versions of Selected Works of Mao Zedong in China and abroad. The most precious one is the one published by Jinchaji Daily in May 1944, which was typeset in May 1944 and officially released to the public in September.

This set of Selected Works of Mao Zedong is now recognized as the first Chinese version of Selected Works of Mao Zedong. It mainly includes 29 works written by Taizu from the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War to June 1944, divided into 5 volumes, about 460,000 words. This set of Selected Works of Mao Zedong was printed in two types: 5-volume paperback and 5-volume bound volumes. The first edition was printed in 2,000 copies each, and it was reprinted in March 1945 (actually a reprint).

The number of versions of this system, whether first edition or reprint, is extremely small, and its collection value is inestimable, and it has become a precious historical relic. Especially this hardcover edition with red velvet added to the bound volume is even rarer.

Sure enough, the answer given by the Holy Ring also confirmed this, and the book was authentic.

The book in front of you is the legendary 1944 hardcover edition of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong". This hardcover edition was sold at a sky-high price of 1.35 million yuan at an auction in 2016, which is more valuable than the Song Dynasty edition books that were worth "one tael of gold per page".
