Chapter 181 Four-armed Bronze Statue

"Hey man, what are you doing squatting here?" A voice suddenly rang out, waking Yang Jing from his thoughts.

Yang Jing looked up and found that it was the boss who had just sold him the Longquan Ge Kiln flower-mouth plate and the pair of Ru porcelain fragments.

The guy was riding a three-wheeled cart with a bunch of things wrapped in colorful strips of cloth on it. He was looking at him with a smile.

"Oh, nothing, I was just lost in thought." Yang Jing smiled and stood up. As a result, his legs suddenly felt numb and he almost fell down.

"Hey, you have to be careful. You've been squatting for too long and the blood circulation in your legs is blocked." The stall owner was quick-witted and grabbed Yang Jing while sitting on the seat, and said to Yang Jing with a smile.

"Thank you! I didn't expect my legs to be numb after squatting for such a short while." Yang Jing thanked him with a smile, then slowly stood up.

"Come on, hurry up and go in, the doors have been open for ten minutes. My seat just now was a bit far away, otherwise I would have squeezed in by now."

Yang Jing looked at his watch and found that it was already four forty. He had been squatting for nearly twenty minutes without realizing it.

"Okay, you go in first, I'll walk in right after you." Yang Jing said to the stall owner.

The boss smiled and waved his hand, then he exerted force on his legs, pedaled the tricycle and entered the market through the gate.

Yang Jing also shook his head and followed him towards the gate across the street.

It was the darkest time of the day. In the huge Panjiayuan Flea Market, except for two high-hanging light bulbs at the door that illuminated a small area near the door, the rest of the market was still pitch black.

Even after walking into the market, it was still dark and you couldn't see anything. However, the market was already bustling, especially in the greenhouse area. Hundreds of small light bulbs were used together to illuminate the greenhouse area, giving it some light. Countless figures gathered in the greenhouse area, and under the dim light, they really looked like shadowy ghosts.

Having just collected three large-opening treasures and a pile of more precious Ru porcelain fragments, Yang Jing has more confidence in the ghost market of this era. Tightening his backpack, Yang Jing followed the crowd into the greenhouse area.

As he walked, Yang Jing slowly stopped, and finally, he stopped in front of a stall.

This stall sells all kinds of objects made of bamboo, wood, ivory, and horn. In addition, there are several Buddha statues of different shapes on the edge of this stall.

What attracted Yang Jing's attention was not the other things on the stall, but a Buddha statue that was about less than 50 centimeters tall, had four arms, and seemed to be dancing.

Judging from the faintly visible reflected light, this Buddha statue should be a bronze statue, but the posture of this bronze Buddha statue is very different from the posture of the Buddha statues we usually see.

Buddhism has an important position in Chinese history. Many monarchs in history have destroyed Buddhism, but there are also more emperors who are devout Buddhists. As for the Chinese people, Buddhism is a sect that can be compared with Taoism. It is very popular. It is not an exaggeration to say that Buddhism is even more important than Taoism in the minds of the Chinese people.

There are many uneducated old ladies and old men in rural China. If you ask them who the ancestor of Taoism is, they may not know. But if you ask them about Guanyin Bodhisattva, almost all of them will know.

This is the power of Buddhism.

Therefore, Buddha statues have been frequently seen throughout the dynasties, from the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang to the Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes, from miniature Buddha statues only a few centimeters high to the Leshan Giant Buddha over seventy meters high, the number of Buddha statues in China is innumerable.

However, most of the Buddha statues in China have dignified expressions. Even the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara, whose densely packed arms may look a bit scary, the appearance of Avalokitesvara is incomparably dignified.

The Buddha statue in front of us, however, deviates from the traditional elegance of Chinese Buddha statues. The Buddha in this statue seems to be dancing, with his right leg bent and standing alone, his left leg crossed in the air, his left arm bent, his left hand at shoulder level, holding an object similar to a jade disk, and the Buddha's right hand making the same movement, except that it is holding a cylindrical object.

The worst thing is that this Buddha has not just two arms, it has four arms!

In addition to the two original arms, this Buddha has an additional arm on each shoulder. The palm of the right arm is in an upward position with four fingers bent and the palm facing forward.

As for the extra arm on the left, it was stretched to the lower right, with the palm directly below the right palm, making a downward vertical gesture. The two extra arms made the gestures of Xiao Bai and Xiao Hong using the "Dugen" Qi wave in "Knives Out 3"...

The entire bronze statue looks like some kind of ceremony is being performed on this Buddha.

To say that the Buddha statue is sculpted to be dancing... Oh no, it should be a ritual posture. This has existed in Buddha sculptures in Chinese history. But suddenly there appeared a Buddha with four arms performing a ritual. What the hell is this?

If there is any reasonable explanation, it is that this Buddha statue is not a Chinese Buddha statue at all, but an imported one. Especially for a deity with such a peculiar shape, the most likely possibility is that it came from India in the south.

India is a rather weird country. Every aspect of it is weird, especially its faith which is really speechless.
