The reserves of this newly discovered oil reservoir are not lower than those of the oil reservoir currently being exploited. Yang Jing roughly estimated that the reserves of this newly discovered oil reservoir are even higher.
In other words, Yang Jing accidentally discovered a medium-sized oil field with reserves of more than 60 million tons.

If Yang Jing can convert about half of the heavy oil in the reservoir into recoverable light, low-sulfur crude oil by absorbing natural precious gas, then the two reservoirs together can provide Rongbao Mining with at least 500 million barrels of recoverable reserves - that means that this oil field, which only cost 47 million US dollars to buy, can bring Rongbao Mining at least 5 billion US dollars in net profits in the next ten years.
As a major shareholder of Rongbao Mining, Yang Jing certainly didn't mind such a good thing happening. He held 40% of the shares in Rongbao Mining. Originally, Yang Jing only wanted 30%, but in the end he couldn't beat Guo Dabao, so the proportion was raised to 40%.
A 40% stake would mean $2 billion in net profit, plus the income from the two Beaumont oil fields. These three oil fields alone would bring Yang Jing no less than $800 million in after-tax net income each year.
Only a fool would not do such a good thing.
