Outside Lae is the vast Sea of Solomon.
The shape of the Solomon Sea is very "strange". Of course, this strangeness is due to the boundaries defined for the Solomon Sea.
Looking at the map, it looks like a diamond shape, with Irian Island to the east, New Britain Island to the north, and the Solomon Sea surrounded by the Solomon Islands to the west and south.
These islands surrounding the Solomon Sea were formed by the collision of the Indo-Australian Plate and the Pacific Plate. The Solomon Sea, sandwiched in between, is also an area with very complex terrain.
In the southwest of this beautiful sea, the depth of the sea water is limited, so you can see endless coral reefs, many of which are "exposed" above the water, forming reef groups similar to the Great Barrier Reef in the south; similarly, in the northern half of the sea, there is a New Britain Basin with an average sea depth of four thousand meters. Especially at the northernmost edge of this basin, which is close to the island of New Britain, there is a trench with a depth of six thousand meters in the world. The name of this trench is the Planite Trench. The deepest abyss is 9,140 meters deep, ranking ninth in the depth of all trenches in the world.
Now, the "Australian Style" that Yang Jing and his crew are aboard is sailing against the wind across this trench.
Because they could not go to Bougainville Island, their route for this trip was to travel westward along the northern edge of the Solomon Sea, passing through New Britain Island and New Ireland Island, then entering the Bismarck Sea through the Fowey Passage, and after going around New Ireland Island, they entered the Pacific Ocean, bypassed Bougainville Island and entered the Solomon Islands, then went around the Solomon Islands, and finally returned to Lae along the southern edge of the Solomon Sea.
With the average cruising speed of 29 knots of the Australian Style, this trip would take at least 17 Australian hours. If there is a need to inspect some place in particular, the slightest delay may result in the ship not being able to return for 20 minutes.
It is precisely because of this that Yang Jing and his team focused their investigation on the northern islands of the Solomon Sea. After all, there are already developed mines near New Britain and New Ireland. The Panguna copper-gold mine on Bougainville Island is not the only one. There is a gold mine on Lihir Island east of New Ireland with reserves even richer than the Porgera gold mine.
Generally speaking, no matter what kind of mineral resources, they tend to be concentrated in clusters. This has been proven in many mineral deposits discovered around the world, such as the iron ore in the northwest of Western Australia, the iron ore in the "Iron Four Corners" of Brazil, the gold and diamond mines in northern South Africa.
Similarly, the island chain of Irian Island and the Solomon Islands also contains rich deposits of precious metals. Otherwise, in this section of the island chain which is only 1,600 kilometers long, there are actually three world-class gold mines being mined. If we count the precious metal ore body discovered by Yang Jing a few days ago and the Panguna copper-gold mine which has not yet started construction, there are five world-class precious metal mines.
Such a density is extremely rare even in the whole world.
However, after arriving at New Britain Island from Lae, Yang Jing took a helicopter on the yacht to observe from the air. As a result, he almost looked at the entire New Britain Island, but did not find any minerals worth mining.
This is not to say that there are no mineral deposits on New Britain. On the contrary, this large island, which ranks 37th in area, has very rich mineral resources. It's just that these mineral resources are relatively scattered. After seeing the Porgera gold mine and the ore body he discovered, Yang Jing no longer takes these small reserves of mineral veins seriously.
If these mineral veins were to be developed by local people in Papua New Guinea or Australian mining companies, there might be considerable profits. However, if Rongbao Mining came all the way from China to mine such mineral reserves, it would be a loss.
Since Rongbao Mining has been awarded the first batch of quota to enter Papua New Guinea, it must seize this good opportunity. Otherwise, it will not mine. Once it decides to mine, it must be a world-class mine.
After two days of investigation by helicopter, Yang Jing did not gain anything except the Gazelle Peninsula in the northeast corner of New Britain Island. This made Yang Jing somewhat disappointed. He simply decided not to go out in the afternoon, but rested on the boat in the sea breeze and flirted with Guo Xiang.
It's not that Yang Jing doesn't like super yachts. Who doesn't like this super luxurious toy? Yang Jing considers himself a layman, so naturally he is not immune to it.
Who wouldn't want to sail around the four oceans every year on their own superyacht? This year, we'll go to the Arctic to see polar bears, and maybe even find a whitebait; next year, we'll go to the Antarctic to see whales and glaciers. After all, it's your own boat, so you can do whatever you want with it. It's so cool!
Of course, if he did what the fat man said, and drove a super yacht to a scenic spot to seduce girls, Yang Jing really didn't think about it. Having a princess around him was enough for Yang Jing. He didn't want to do anything to come out, which would not only be unfair to the princess, but also to himself and his family.
But as Yang Jing said, it is not the right time to be cool and carefree. Although Yang Jing is determined to become a cool and carefree tycoon, now is not the right time. After his private museum is built and he completely takes over the Dragon Fund, that is when he can be cool and carefree. As for now, he should just bear with it.
"My old Yang, why don't you go down and swim a few laps? The water quality here is great. In comparison, the water quality in Sanya and Guam is rubbish. I heard from Captain Howard that in this area, you can see things 50 meters underwater. It's quite clear."
