Saipan's nickname is "The Pearl of the Western Pacific".
This nickname is not randomly chosen. Saipan Island is located at about 15 degrees north latitude, in the surrounding unpolluted waters. The island has many natural landscapes, such as the Blue Hole connected to the Pacific Ocean, Bird Island where many birds live; there are also many cultural landscapes, such as the American Memorial Park, the "Banzai Cliff" where the Japanese collectively jumped off the cliff to "commit suicide" after their defeat, and the Taga House left by the Taga tribe 3,500 years ago, which is similar to the chief's palace; there are also spectacular battlefield relics left over from history, such as Gunkanjima, such as the ruins of the last headquarters of the Japanese army...
Anyway, on this island with an area of less than 200 square kilometers, you can see a different scene every ten steps.
Of course, since it is an island, how can it be without beautiful beaches?
In the middle of the west coast of Saipan, there is a beach about one kilometer long, named Michael Beach, which is considered to be the most beautiful beach in the entire Saipan.
Because it is located on the west coast of Saipan, the waves here are much stronger than those on the east coast. The fine white sand is extremely soft and it is very comfortable to walk on barefoot. What is particularly magical is that when you stand on Mike Beach and look at the ocean, you will find that the ocean will present an incredible seven colors.
When the sun sets, the evening glow is full, and enjoying the sunset here will have a unique charm.
The beautiful and quiet Mike Beach is recognized as the best beach in Saipan and even in the entire Northern Mariana Islands.
The Hyatt Hotel that Yang Jing and his friends booked is located on Micro Beach. The hotel is surrounded by 14 acres of tropical gardens and lagoons, creating a unique piece of luxurious tranquility in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Yang Jing booked three suites in this hotel, which belongs to the Hyatt Hotels Corporation headquartered in Chicago, USA. One is a presidential suite with an area of 215 square meters, and the other two are executive suites with an area of 117 square meters.
Including taxes, each of these three suites would cost Yang Jing $6,600. However, this price is definitely cheap compared to suites in five-star hotels in Paris, London or New York.
After arriving at the hotel, the group arranged the rooms and started to adjust to the jet lag. Flying from Port Moresby to Manila and then from Manila to Saipan overnight was not only tiring, but also a bit confusing due to the jet lag. In addition, the sun was strong enough today, and going out to play obviously had to deal with strong ultraviolet rays, so it was better to rest in the hotel.
After a full night's sleep, everyone felt full of energy when they woke up the next day.
Yang Jing was not in a hurry to go to Guam to experience the thrill of riding an F15 fighter jet. Chris had already rented an eight-seat seaplane with a cargo hold for Yang Jing. The most important thing was to go to the Mauger Islands to handle business. Otherwise, he would always be worried about the series of transportation lists, and even if he was playing, Yang Jing would not have any interest in playing.
This seaplane does not fly very fast, and its flight altitude is not high, only about 800 meters. If you want to tour the entire Northern Mariana Islands in the air, taking this seaplane is undoubtedly the best choice. Because this aircraft has a range that helicopters cannot match, and can land directly on the sea, this is the main reason why Yang Jing chose to take a seaplane to fly to the Mauge Islands more than 500 kilometers away.
Seaplanes do not require a dedicated airport for takeoff and landing. As long as the water conditions are good, they can take off and land anytime and anywhere.
The master was quite considerate and the wind was much stronger the next day. Although the sun was still very strong, it was obviously great for taking off and landing seaplanes in such weather.
The straight-line distance from Saipan to the Maugue Islands in the north is 530 kilometers. At the flying speed of a seaplane, it takes about two hours to arrive.
Because of the close contact between the Philippine Sea Plate and the Pacific Plate, the ancient, cold Pacific Plate subducts under the young, less dense Philippine Sea Plate in the Mariana Trench. As a result, the upper plate has a lot of volcanic activity, forming not only the world's deepest Mariana Trench between the two, but also a series of pearl-like islands on the west side of the trench.
These islands are formed by volcanoes and uplifted corals. The island arc stretches for more than 800 kilometers along the Mariana Trench. This island arc is the Mariana Islands.
The northernmost island of the Mariana Islands is a volcanic island called Depajaros Rocks. About 64 kilometers southeast of Depajaros Rocks is the Maugue Islands.
After the seaplane took off from the sea off Mike Beach, it flew north along the Northern Mariana Islands. The pilots were naturally George and Chris.
Flying this propeller plane is not difficult at all for the two of them, and when flying in this kind of sea, even GPS positioning is not needed. They just need to fly along this series of volcanic islands. There is no need to worry about getting lost, because they can see an island not far ahead, and they can see another island not far after flying past this island.
These islands are the best navigation marks.
Because the flight altitude was only about 600 meters, the scenes on those islands could be seen clearly even without a telescope.
For example, when the plane flew over Pagan Island, Yang Jing could even see wisps of hot air coming out of the volcano in the north of Pagan Island.
Although Pagan Island is less than 50 square kilometers, it is a very scary island because it is composed of two active volcanoes, and in the past century, the two active volcanoes on the island have erupted three times in succession.
