This section of cliff is the steepest part of the entire West Island because the highest mountain on the West Island is located here.
Although the mountain is only over 120 meters high, it stands here with most of its body consisting of knife-cut cliffs facing the lagoon, making it look particularly imposing.
This cliff is about seventy or eighty meters high and straight up and down, so it is definitely suitable for free diving.
This is also a good place to build the entrance to the base, but Yang Jing did not choose it at first, because in the area where the cliff meets the sea, there are a few rugged reefs scattered around, and some of them are even exposed above the water.
The existence of these reefs made this cliff completely useless. Don't build an entrance to the base. Even if you want to play free diving, I guess no one would dare to play in such a place.
Do you really think those reefs down there are made of mud? Free diving in a place like this is simply courting death.
Moreover, with these reefs blocking the way, ships certainly cannot come in, and it is obviously impossible to build an entrance to the base here.
But it happened that, right here, to be exact, behind a reef about half a meter above the water surface, Yang Jing accidentally found several pieces of steel bars.
This discovery immediately excited Yang Jing. These pieces of steel bars were definitely not formed naturally, and judging from their positions, they were most likely steel bars in reinforced concrete. Since there were these pieces of steel bars behind the rock wall, what else could be explained?
Yang Jing drove the motorboat carefully to the reef. Fortunately, this was a lagoon with little wind and waves. If he was outside the lagoon, driving a motorboat to approach such a reef would be tantamount to seeking death. A big wave would hit both the man and the motorboat onto the reef.
Standing on a reef less than one meter away from the cliff, Yang Jing activated his perspective skill again and carefully looked at the cliff in front of him. What disappointed him was that the thickness of this rock wall had exceeded the maximum perspective distance of the perspective skill. All he could see was rock.
But what about those pieces of steel bars?
Yang Jing squatted down and moved closer to that part, only to find that there was a piece missing from the rock wall at that part.
It should be the effect of wave erosion or weathering that caused a large piece of rock to fall off from that part, resulting in the thickness of the rock wall in that part becoming much thinner. This made the steel bars in the suspected reinforced concrete inside the rock wall appear under Yang Jing's perspective skills.
Turning his head and looking around, Yang Jing found that Chris and the others did not notice him, so he took out a sledgehammer from the space and hit the rock wall of the cliff several times.
If the cliff behind was solid, then the sound of the hammer hitting the rock wall would be crisp. Yang Jing hit it hard a few times, and although the sound was still crisp, a dull sound could be heard faintly.
This sound made Yang Jing excited again. Obviously, the reason for this sound was that the back of the cliff should be hollow, but because the outer layer of the cliff was too thick, this sound occurred.
Yang Jing put the hammer into the space and did not continue to look at the rock wall, because he knew that no matter how hard he looked, he could not see anything. The rock wall here was too thick, and according to the time calculation, even if there was a base behind the rock wall, this base had not been opened for at least 60 years or even longer.
In the natural environment of the Maugue Archipelago, vegetation would wipe out all traces in just six years, let alone sixty years.
Turning around and getting on the motorboat, Yang Jing blew a loud whistle. After a while, the figures of Chris and the others appeared one after another from various parts of West Island.
Yang Jing was only wearing a pair of swimming trunks, so he didn't have any radio or anything else with him.
"BOSS, have you discovered anything?" Kara kowtowed the loudest and had the loudest voice, and his voice was immediately audible.
Yang Jing made a few gestures, and then accompanied by a burst of joyful cheers, the figures of these guys suddenly disappeared.
After a while, these guys all gathered around Yang Jing on their motorboats.
"BOSS, have you found anything?" Clark asked in a muffled voice.
"I have made some discoveries." Yang Jing nodded with a smile, "The back of this cliff seems to be hollow. The sound produced after knocking is different, so I plan to dive down and take a look."
Chris looked up and shook his head, "Boss, the sun has already set. It's not a good idea to go down now. The visibility down there will be very poor. Come on, let's get ready tonight and go down together tomorrow morning to have a look."
Yang Jing thought for a moment, looked up at the color, and said readily: "Okay, let's take a break today and continue tomorrow. Guys, I found a lot of dog claw snails this afternoon, we can try this tonight."
Carl Morris saw the net bag of gooseneck barnacles that Yang Jing brought out, and a look of surprise appeared on his face. "Wow, Boss, you are such a genius! How could you find such delicious things? Ah, this is a delicacy from hell!"
Carl Morris has some Spanish ancestry, and Spain is the country that is most crazy about gooseneck barnacles. So when Morris saw the large net bag of gooseneck barnacles, he immediately became very excited.
In the evening, we had gooseneck barnacles, paired with other seafood and dishes, and it was a very enjoyable dinner.
