"Young man, if you like the set of pots on this shelf, just tell me and I will give it to you directly." The old man said with a smile.
"Grandpa, can I have a look?"
The old man nodded, and Yang Jing took out a pair of white gloves from his pocket and put them on.
The old man shook his head and said, "Why are you still wearing gloves? They are just some little things I made myself. They are not that precious. We don't care about these things here."
Yang Jing didn't say anything, but still didn't take off his gloves.
Picking up a pot, Yang Jing was immediately attracted to it.
Judging from the appearance and the patterns on the pot, this seems to be a "Fish Turning into Dragon Pot", but the cloud pattern on the pot looks different from that of ordinary Fish Turning into Dragon Pots.
The body of an ordinary fish-turning-into-dragon pot is shaped like sea waves, but the pattern on the body of this pot is cloud patterns; and the fish dragon on an ordinary fish-turning-into-dragon pot is spitting pearls, while the fish dragon on this pot is spraying water.
But like ordinary fish-turning-into-dragon pots, the dragon head installed on the lid is flexible and graceful, while the handle is the dragon tail.
As if seeing Yang Jing's doubt, the old man asked with a smile: "Young man, can you tell the origin of this pot?"
Yang Jing shook his head and said, "Grandpa, I'm a little unsure about this pot. Judging from the shape and decoration, this should be a fish-turned-dragon pot, but the cloud pattern and the jade dragon spraying water on the pot are different from ordinary fish-turned-dragon pots."
"Oh, you also know about the Fish Transformation into Dragon Pot? You can also tell the difference between my pot and the ordinary Fish Transformation into Dragon Pot, not bad, not bad!"
After a pause, the old man came over and said, "This pot was made by me in the early 1950s, and there are several other pots that are the same as this one." As he spoke, the old man pointed to several pots on the shelf. Yang Jing looked over and found that these pots were indeed almost the same as the one in his hand.
"These pots are indeed not fish-turning-into-dragon pots. I made some changes based on the fish-turning-into-dragon pot. Before liberation, especially during the Anti-Japanese War, I made many fish-turning-into-dragon pots. But at the same time, before liberation, the lives of us pot-making artists were far worse than they are now. Thanks to the Party leading the People's Liberation Army to liberate China, and also because of the liberation, we old artists who rely on making pots to make a living can live better. So I think that after liberation, we old pot-making artists are like 'carp leaping over the dragon gate'. Therefore, I made some changes based on the previous fish-turning-into-dragon pot, and finally made these pots. I named these pots 'cloud dragon pots'."
"These pots are still based on the shape of the Fish-Transforming-Dragon Pot, but the inlaid lid is changed to a pressed lid, the dragon tail handle is changed to a flying handle, and the original rotating cloud and water pattern is changed to a cloud pattern. It can be considered a small breakthrough."
The old man was very proud when he said this, and it was obvious that he was very satisfied with this change.
However, when Yang Jing heard the name "Yunlong Pot", he was really shocked!
He had heard of the name of "Yunlong Pot" more than once or twice, but he had never seen a Yunlong Pot. So when he first saw this pot, he did not remember for a moment that this pot was the famous Yunlong Pot.
So Yang Jing immediately pressed the lid with his hand and turned the pot over. Sure enough, there was a seal in seal script on the bottom of the pot: Zhu Kexin made. Turning the pot over and removing the lid, there was another seal on the inside of the lid: Zhu Kexin.
Sure enough, this pot is the work of the great purple sand master Zhu Kexin. And the old man in front of me, who looks no different from an ordinary rural old man, is actually the legendary Master Zhu Kexin! No wonder I felt a little familiar with this old man when I first saw him.
Yang Jing was really excited now. He gently put down the pot in his hand and asked excitedly, "Grandpa, are you the great purple sand master Zhu Kexin?"
"Haha, young man, I don't deserve the title of master, but Ke Xin is my stage name."
"Oh my..." Yang Jing cried out in surprise. He really didn't expect that he could see the long-deceased master Zhu Kexin here. This surprise came too quickly and too suddenly that he couldn't help himself.
"Haha, young man, am I that famous?" Master Zhu was also amused by Yang Jing's performance.
"Nonsense! Of course I'll be excited to see you!" Yang Jing muttered silently in his heart.
In the purple clay art world of China, in addition to the ancient masters and great masters, after liberation, the Jiangsu Provincial "Government" appointed seven famous purple clay artists, Ren Gan Ting, Pei Shimin, Wu Yungen, Wang Yinchun, Zhu Kexin, Gu Jingzhou, and Jiang Rong, as "technical instructors" in 1996. They were called the "Seven Old Artists" in the purple clay art world, and were respectfully called the "Seven Old Purple Clay Artists" by later purple clay enthusiasts.
The Master Zhu before us is exactly one of the Seven Old Masters of Purple Clay. His status in the Purple Clay art world may not be as high as that of the great masters like Shi Dabin, Chen Mingyuan and Gu Jingzhou, but he is definitely one of the top few among the masters, and an absolute leader in the Purple Clay art world!
It was a pity that Master Zhu passed away in 1998, and Yang Jing had no chance to meet this master. But he never expected that he would meet this legendary master of purple sand in the early morning of the summer of 1982 when he traveled through time and space.
"Master, you are the master!" Yang Jing said without doubt, "Master, you don't know how famous you are abroad. I am not very clear about other countries, but in the UK, your name is revered by countless overseas Chinese who like purple clay culture. Even many British people who like our Chinese purple clay culture also respect you very much."
