Chapter 659: Hidden Location

When Yang Jing was studying in college in China or in the UK, in his spare time, in addition to reading books, he would also use some download software to download some American blockbusters to watch.

There was no way. At that time, Yang Jing was a poor loser. If you asked him to spend dozens of dollars a week to watch movies, he didn't have that kind of spare money.

So Yang Jing has watched many classic American blockbusters.

Yang Jing remembers that there were some clips in some blockbuster movies that involved some ways of solving puzzles, such as writing some numbers on the back of a book. In fact, these numbers had no other meanings. They simply represented the number of pages and lines in the book, as well as the number of words in the line.

Just like in the movie "Unknown" starring American movie star Liam Neeson, Liam Neeson played a scientist who lost his memory due to a car accident. As a result, he used a book he carried with him and some numbers recorded at the end of the book to unravel some secrets hidden before he lost his memory.

There is also a scene at the beginning of "Journey 2: The Center of the Earth" in which Dwayne Johnson appeared, where Dwayne Johnson helps his adopted son solve the location of the mysterious island. Both of them use similar methods to solve the mystery.

Of course, if most people have not seen those brain-opening movies, they would definitely be confused when seeing the numbers recorded in the notebook in Yang Jing's hand.

But unfortunately, when Yang Jing calmed down and looked at these numbers and one of the books, clips from Hollywood blockbusters he had seen before appeared in his mind.

"Why not give it a try? It's not a big deal anyway." Yang Jing said to himself as he opened the book "The Spirit of the Laws" that he had just taken out.

This book is a famous work by Montesquieu, and was later listed as one of the hundred masterpieces that influenced the world.

The book in front of him was exactly the one recorded in the notebook, published in 1942. In the notebook, the first number after the publication year of this book was 112, so Yang Jing tried to turn to page 112 of the book.

After the number 112 are two numbers, 8 and 12.

So Yang Jing found the 12th word on the 8th line of page 112 according to the numbers, and discovered that the letter was a word starting with a capital K - Kabugao.

If this word is connected with the words before and after to form a sentence, Yang Jing can understand what it means, but if it is taken out alone, Yang Jing does not quite understand what it means.

But what is certain is that, according to the original meaning in the book, Kabugao should represent a place name, but unfortunately, Yang Jing had never heard of such a place name, nor did he know where Montesquieu got such a place name from.

The most crucial thing is that Montesquieu was a Frenchman. When he wrote "The Spirit of the Laws", he should have written it in French, but the book was printed in English, so Yang Jing could not be sure whether Kabugao was a French place name or an English place name.

Unfortunately, there was no internet around, and no Baidu or Wikipedia to look up, so Yang Jing could only write down the letter.

Afterwards, Yang Jing took out a copy of "The Origin of Species" published in 1935 according to the name of the second book written in the notebook. After searching according to the three numbers written in the notebook, he finally determined the second word - Pilipinas.

Yang Jing knew this word; it was the English name of the Philippines.

This discovery made Yang Jing a little excited. Since the word Philippines appeared, what other words would appear in the third book?

According to the name of the third book written in the notebook, Yang Jing searched for a long time but couldn't find the book. Obviously, the book should have been taken away by Mrs. Vanessa.

This small blow immediately hurt Yang Jing's excited mood.

The two words he just found made Yang Jing vaguely guess that if he could completely decipher the numbers and book titles recorded in this notebook, it should point to a clear location. But at the critical moment, a key book was not at hand.

This... this is too fucking meow...

The feeling of having the excitement that had just arisen suddenly interrupted was very bad. Even though Yang Jing had experienced so many things, at this moment he couldn't help but feel so angry that he wanted to smash something to vent his anger.

Fortunately, apart from bookshelves, books and this solid large desk, there was nothing in this large study room that could allow Yang Jing to vent his anger, which saved the servants from the crisis of cleaning the study room.

He took out a cigarette from the storage space, lit it, took two deep puffs, and felt a little dizzy. Only then did Yang Jing slowly calm down.

After putting out the cigarette he had taken two puffs of and taking two deep breaths, Yang Jing sat down at the desk again and slowly deciphered what was written in the notebook.

It doesn’t matter if the book is incomplete, it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand the meaning of the “picked” words, or even if the deciphering method is correct or not. What matters is to first deal with the existing things at hand.

He was busy until Butler Shedon came in again to invite Yang Jing to dinner. Only then did Yang Jing reluctantly and carefully put the piece of paper with more than a dozen words written on it into the storage space.

Although the dozen or so words "deciphered" by Yang Jing were somewhat incoherent due to the incompleteness of those books, Yang Jing still found some clues from these dozen or so words "deciphered".
