Chapter 692: Simplicity

The valley where the Aqik River is located is called the Aqik River Valley. Compared with the winding and long valleys of the Baiyu River and Moyu River, the section of the Aqik River Valley just entering the Kunlun Mountains is not only very short but also very straight. The valley is also relatively wide, with an estimated width of nearly 200 meters.

Although there are mountains with altitudes of more than 2,000 meters on both sides of the valley, the bottom of the valley is quite flat, so there are many villages in the valley.

In fact, from the moment we approached the Aqik River, the villages and fields along the river continued uninterruptedly.

Although the Aqik River is not large and is a seasonal river, the water volume is still quite abundant when there is water in the river, enough to form an oasis along the river within a few hundred meters on both sides of the river.

So along the way, a series of small villages such as Yagmaiti, Yikeler, Naimaiti, Yuqi Mazha, and Kaklata are like a string of beads, distributed on both sides of the Aqik River. In fact, these villages are not complete natural villages, but groups within a natural village, because each group has at most a dozen households.

After entering the Aqik River Valley, there are still many small villages, and compared to outside the mountains, the dirt roads in the valley are much flatter.

The three-car convoy really attracted the attention of the villagers, and some children even ran after the cars, making happy noises along the way...

In the river valley, besides the villages, there are cultivated farmlands on both sides of the river. In fact, the precipitation in the whole Kunlun Mountains is very little, especially in the middle section of Kunlun Mountains where Hotan is located, the precipitation is even less than that in the desert.

Because of the terrain, the annual precipitation in the area below 5,000 meters above sea level is only a pitiful 20 millimeters, so it is really very difficult for local farmers to reclaim arable land.

Although it is already April, the temperature here is still relatively low. However, on the steep slopes on both sides of the river valley, the originally withered grass has begun to turn slightly green. It will not be until next month that these wild grasses all over the mountains will turn green again, fully displaying their vigorous vitality to nature.

This is almost the driest section of the entire Kunlun Mountains, so there are almost no shrubs on the hillside, only wild grass all over the mountain.

However, because of the existence of the river in the valley, you can see many trees. Because the valley is sheltered from the wind, the leaves of these trees appear motionless, as if they were fake trees made of plastic.

After entering the valley and walking along the dirt road for about less than two kilometers, the dirt road in front disappeared, the valley became narrower, and the farmland disappeared.

Wang Changyou said: "This group is the innermost group in the village. There are seven households in total, all of them are Tibetans. We can park the car here and then walk into the mountains."

The arrival of the three cars made the seven families open their doors one after another. The old and young, men and women all came out. It seemed that they had never seen such a high-end imported SUV as the Mitsubishi Pajero. The thirty or so people gathered at the door of each house and did not dare to move forward. Only an old man with gray hair and wearing traditional Tibetan clothes walked forward.

Following Wang Changyou's instructions, Yang Jing parked the car in an open space similar to a yard. Wang Changyou got out of the car swiftly, then walked towards the old man standing in the front with a smile. Yang Jing took out two packages of things from the car and got out, following slowly behind. Several tall and strong bodyguards also got out of the car with some things in their hands and followed Yang Jing.

Obviously, the old man recognized Wang Changyou and gave him a warm hug. Then they started chatting with a smile. However, Yang Jing could not understand what they were saying. Liu Changchuan on the side said, "This is Tibetan. I can understand a little bit."

Seeing Wang Changyou pointing at him and saying something to the old man, Yang Jing knew that it was time for him to step forward.

He walked up, and Wang Changyou said in Chinese: "Mr. Smith, this old man is the leader of this group. His name is Tashi Tsering. He is over 60 years old and has a high reputation in the village. I have just explained to him the purpose of our visit, and he has agreed to let us park the cars here and take care of them for us."

After hearing these words, Yang Jing politely bowed slightly to the old man, and then said in standard Mandarin: "My dear elder, on behalf of my team, I would like to thank you for your support. Here are some small gifts I brought, I hope you and your relatives and friends will like them."

As he spoke, Yang Jing waved at the bodyguards, who quickly took out the things in their hands, and Yang Jing also put out the things in his hand.

Tashi Tsering can obviously understand Mandarin, and he can also speak Mandarin, but his pronunciation is very unstandard.

"Dear guests, you don't have to be so polite. We welcome you to our place. Let's go inside and talk." The old man Tashi Tsering did not accept the gifts. He could not accept all the gifts by himself, so he took Yang Jing and the others to his own house.

Wang Changyou whispered, "Mr. Smith, your gift has won the favor of Tashi Tsering. He welcomes your arrival."

Yang Jing smiled and said, "It's easy to be polite. Although I'm a foreigner, I still understand this principle. By the way, how come you are so familiar with the people here?"

"Mr. Smith, actually the last time I came here was half a month ago. I come here four or five times a year. For those of us in this line of work, we know almost all the Tibetans in the mountains."
