"Saddam? The one from Iraq?" Henry asked after a moment's pause.
"Yes, that's the one!" Yang Jing nodded with certainty. "We all know what happened in the Iran-Iraq War that just ended less than two years ago. It was nothing more than Carter and Reagan's Washington guys who were behind it."
Everyone chuckled. As people at the top of the American financial world, they knew exactly what the Iran-Iraq War was all about.
The United States used to have a bad relationship with Iraq, and even unilaterally listed Iraq as a country supporting international terrorism in 1979. However, with the outbreak of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which broke away from the control of the United States, the United States began to support Iraq again.
In 1982, the United States removed Iraq from its list of terrorist countries and agreed to export weapons to Iraq. In 1984, the United States and Iraq restored diplomatic relations.
In September 1980, Saddam's 150,000-man army attacked Iran, leaving Iran unable to resist at first. Although Saddam's main reason for attacking Iran was religious and territorial issues, it was inseparable from the support of the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union.
The Soviet Union originally wanted to directly control Iran, but the new religious regime in Iran was anti-American and anti-Soviet at the same time, which made the Soviet Union very unhappy. Therefore, the Soviet Union also tried its best to encourage Saddam to attack Iran. After getting the support of both the United States and the Soviet Union, Saddam seemed very confident. When the war situation developed in an unfavorable situation for Iraq, the United States and the Soviet Union imposed sanctions on Iran at the United Nations. On the issue of dealing with Iran, the old enemies of the United States and the Soviet Union sat together.
David, Henry and the others are very clear about these things.
"However, both Carter and Reagan made the wrong choice to support the wrong person. Saddam was not a good choice. On the contrary, he was the one who least deserved support. But there was no other way. If the Federation did not support that guy, he would completely fall into the arms of the Soviets."
After a pause, Yang Jing said in a very affirmative tone: "Saddam has always been an anti-American. His attitude towards the United States has not been as gentle as it has been in recent years. We all know that Saddam's ability to become the president of Iraq is inseparable from the support of the Soviets, but unfortunately, Iran had a revolution ten years ago that was beyond our expectations. We lost a powerful ally in the Middle East."
"Since Iran is unwilling to make peace with the Federation, then both Carter and Reagan will definitely set their sights on someone else. Under such circumstances, Saddam has entered Washington's sight. But if you ask me, their choice is wrong, because Saddam is a wolf, a wolf that can never be tamed!"
"During the Iran-Iraq War, Saddam received the support of the Federation, but unfortunately, the Federation did not gain the benefits it deserved. Reagan saw this very clearly before he stepped down. To deal with a disobedient and untameable ungrateful person like Saddam, a conciliatory policy is useless. The only way is to completely scare this guy. I think everyone here should be aware of this, right?"
Everyone nodded. They didn't understand these things before, but now they basically grasped the key points.
"As you all know, I have a good relationship with President Bush. I know that President Bush hates Saddam. In addition, Iraq borrowed a lot of foreign debt from Arab countries during the Iran-Iraq War, so Saddam is not having an easy time now."
David asked curiously, "Boss, Saddam is having a hard time in the Middle East. What does this have to do with the Japanese stock market?"
"Of course it is related, and the relationship is very big!" Yang Jing said confidently. He looked at several executives and said, "You should learn more about how to coordinate and analyze things from a higher level. The economy of this world has never been determined by one aspect, but by a combination of many aspects."
Yang Jing snapped his fingers, looked at the executives and continued, "What type of economy does Japan have? It is a foreign trade economy, and it is highly dependent on external resources, especially oil. Therefore, once the Middle East becomes unstable, it will inevitably cause panic in the Japanese economy. Do you agree with this?"
Everyone nodded in agreement. Not to mention them, any trader on Wall Street would know this.
But they obviously still did not understand the relationship between Saddam and the Japanese financial market.
"I mean, if there's another war in the Middle East, and it's led by the United States, what do you think of Japan's economy?"
"Ah? Will there be another war in the Middle East? Or will it be a war led by the Federation? Who will they fight? Will they fight Saddam?"
Yang Jing nodded and said, "I think this possibility is very high. The key factor lies in Saddam! Although Saddam did not gain any benefits or win the war in the Iran-Iraq War, he made a good pledge to Washington. In the eyes of those people in Washington, Iraq has become one of their little brothers. Otherwise, why did the Federation provide Iraq with 3.5 billion US dollars in financial assistance two years ago? However, with the support of Washington, Saddam is becoming more and more confused about his position, and his ambition is rapidly expanding. We all know that this guy even proposed to attack Israel several times in public!"
Mike Aller interrupted, "Sadm has indeed gotten a little too proud of himself. He has no idea of the current situation. How can he interfere with Israel?"
