This is a vertical ink painting, carefully framed by the owner.
The painting shows a branch of plum blossoms, with soft lines of light ink and thousands of petals. The elegant posture and charm of the plum blossoms are vividly displayed.
When the old man saw the painting, he let out a light exclamation, as if he had seen something extraordinary.
When Yang Jing saw his grandfather take out his reading glasses from his pocket, he began to pay more attention to this painting.
The shop owner saw Yang Jing and the other two standing in front of the painting and followed them. He said with a smile, "This old man has a good eye. He immediately saw the treasure of our shop."
Yang Jing and his uncle ignored the shop owner's words. People who work in the antique market can talk the dead back to life and make the black white. If you believe their words, they will definitely cheat you and leave you with nothing.
The best way to deal with such people is to let it go in one ear and out the other. No matter what they say, just treat it as a joke.
Yang Jing and his uncle were more concerned about the changes in the old man.
Grandpa had been in a daze ever since he had a craniotomy, but at this moment he was actively interested in a painting and even took out his reading glasses. This change brought smiles to Yang Jing and his uncle's faces.
Needless to say, the love for antiques lurking in the old man's bones has now begun to dominate his body.
The old man turned his head and lowered it, his eyes showing from the top of his reading glasses. He looked at the shop owner and asked, "Boss, can you take this painting down so I can have a look at it?"
There was nothing wrong with what grandpa said. He didn't sound like someone who had undergone a craniotomy or had brain tissue damage.
The shop owner felt a little embarrassed when he heard this and began to hesitate.
My uncle was unhappy. "Why? Isn't this painting hung here to be sold? How can we know if it's real or fake if we don't take a look? Or are you worried that we can't afford it?"
Yang Jing calmly showed his left wrist to the boss. After the boss's eyes were attracted by the watch on his left wrist, he said lightly: "This watch is what I brought back from France. It is a genuine Patek Philippe watch, but I am afraid you don't know the true value of this watch."
The boss smiled awkwardly and said, "This painting of mine is truly the most valuable in our store, but since you want to see it, I'll take it down for you right now."
As he spoke, the shop owner stepped forward and carefully took down the painting. Yang Jing took a quick look and saw that there was no filler at the place where the back of the frame touched the wall. He said calmly, "Boss, it's not right to put this painting like this. Even if an ancient painting is framed, it's best not to have direct contact with the wall to avoid moisture on the wall and damage to the ancient painting in the frame."
When the boss heard this, he put down the painting and gave Yang Jing a thumbs up, "Oh, I can tell you're an expert. It's okay, I just hung this painting this morning, and usually I keep it in the safe."
Yang Jing nodded, said nothing, put on gloves and took the painting that the boss had placed on the table.
Although this painting is framed, its size is not small. Yang Jing can tell at a glance that the painting is about 100 cm * 50 cm in size.
I put the painting in front of my grandfather, and he immediately pushed his reading glasses and moved closer.
The branch of plum blossoms in this painting occupies most of the space in the picture, but there are some empty spaces in the upper right and lower right corners.
There is an inscription in running script in the upper right corner. Yang Jing carefully identified it and could vaguely make out the content of the inscription.
"At noon, I am too lazy to comb my hair, plum blossoms are scattered and blurred by rain. At dawn, I suddenly see the clear sky, and I feel like I am drunk. Friends are in a good mood, and we go out to walk around the mountain. Apricot blossoms are shy and plum blossoms are floating, and a fragrant breeze blows over the water. The path beside the bridge goes around the forest, and there is a red-walled ancient temple. The mountain monk who begs for food goes with a bowl, and the plum blossom courtyard is quiet in autumn. The wine of the thatched cottage is sweet, and I feel a little drunk in the sunset shadow. Let's go to the southern suburbs tomorrow, and first go to the spring city to look at the morning mist. Four poems about visiting plum blossoms. In the early spring of Wuwu, Chaolin hermit Wang Shishen wrote them in Songnan Bookstore."
At the lower left side of the inscription, there are two square seals in small seal script. The upper one is "Wang Shishen Seal" and the lower one is "Chao Lin".
This inscription and seal shocked Yang Jing, and he blurted out, "Could this be a painting by Wang Shishen?"
My grandfather was still looking at the painting carefully without saying anything, and my uncle didn't say anything either. But the shop owner next to them smiled.
"This little brother has a good eye. He can tell at a glance that this is a painting by Wang Shishen. Yes, this painting is Wang Shishen's "White Plum Blossoms"."
Yang Jing rolled his eyes and thought, "Wang Shishen's name is already on the title, can't I see it?"
The uncle over there took out his cell phone, poked at it a few times, and then whispered to Yang Jing.
Wang Shishen (1686-1762) was a native of Ahz County and one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou in the Qing Dynasty. He lived a life of poverty and hardship, was fond of tea and plum blossoms, lived in Yangzhou and sold paintings for a living, and was content with his poverty. He became blind in his later years, but consoled himself by saying that he would never have to see those busy ordinary people again. He used his hands to explore and after unremitting efforts, his paintings were more exquisite than when he was not blind. He was good at painting plum blossoms and bamboo, and was skilled in seal carving and eight-point calligraphy. He was as famous as Gao Xiang and Ding Jing in seal carving.
Wang Shishen, one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, was a poetic person. He loved tea and plum blossoms. "I became addicted to drinking tea, and I always felt that plum blossoms were my old friends." He drank tea and looked at plum blossoms, "I felt refreshed, and I put my thoughts into poetry." Of course, in addition to putting his thoughts into poems, he also put them into paintings, into the plum blossoms under his brush. The plum blossoms he painted were light and elegant, with a sparse and cold fragrance, which expressed his noble and aloof mind.
Jin Nong, one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, once commented on Wang Shishen's plum blossom painting: "Thousands of flowers and stamens, all of which are filled with cold fragrance, just like the snow and wind at Baqiao."
Among the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, Wang Shishen was a painter of high taste. He lived a life of poverty, amusing himself with poetry and wine, and supporting himself with writing. He was gentle and did not compete with the world. When a friend asked for a painting, he would give it generously. When he met a vulgar man, he would not paint a single stroke even if he had no food. In his later years, he was blind, but he could still write cursive script as if it were divine. His friends called it "heart observation", meaning that although the eyes could not see, the heart was like a mirror, as if it was assisted by a god.
Yang Jing was delighted when he heard this. He gave his uncle a thumbs up and whispered, "Uncle, other people who collect antiques rely on their memory to judge things, but you carry Baidu with you everywhere!"
The uncle put the phone in his pocket and said, "What era is it now? Some hard common sense doesn't need to be memorized. What is the phone used for? This is one of its uses."
Yang Jing shrugged his shoulders helplessly. His uncle was so lazy and stealthy that he definitely deserved a ten!
PS: I bow to thank "紫炎天骄" for the 100 yuan reward. There is a funeral today that needs help, so I will post two chapters in a row. Please vote for recommendation.
