St. John's, located on the Avalon Peninsula in the east of Newfoundland Island, is the capital and largest city of Newfoundland, Canada. It is also the easternmost city in North America.
Because of its important geographical location, the British and French have been fighting for this city since the 17th century, and pirates have come to join in the fun from time to time. In addition, the city is isolated overseas, and soldiers, merchants, local natives, adventurers, pirates, and sailors have been mixed for a long time. Gradually, this city has a rebellious, fierce, and rough style. Moreover, because the residents here fight the sea, people, and weather all year round, they have developed a desperate spirit.
Although the people here are unruly, fierce, rough and even brave enough to fight, if you come here with a friendly attitude, you will be welcomed by this city. Otherwise, you will have a hard time in this city.
This is a city with a variety of styles and spirits, but it is also a city with beautiful scenery. The most important features of this city are the beautiful scenery and the delicious food that you will never tire of.
The huge Blue Whale dropped anchor about three kilometers from the exit of Newfoundland Bay. Then, except for the dozen or so crew members who stayed on the ship, the remaining twenty-six people all boarded the ship's large speedboat.
This type of assault boat is made of Hypalon material, and the price of a single boat is over 50,000 US dollars, and it can carry 14 people. The Blue Whale is equipped with two such assault boats, which can carry 26 people at once.
After putting on life jackets on the boat, Yang Jing and his team boarded the speedboat and headed for St. Johns Bay three kilometers away.
When approaching St. Johns Bay, you can clearly see that the entrance to the bay is about three hundred meters wide. The mountains at the north and south corners are like two door gods guarding this not very spacious bay.
St. Johns Bay is actually the estuary of a small river called Waterford River. As a result of crustal movement, the Waterford River, which is less than 20 kilometers long and less than 10 meters wide, has formed a bay about 500 meters wide and nearly 3 kilometers deep at the estuary, forming an excellent sheltered bay.
No wonder the French and the British fought over this city. Such a good natural harbor was enough to make those greedy colonists fight desperately.
When fishing was still under a ban in Newfoundland fishing grounds, St. John's was a famous fishing port throughout North America and even the world. At its peak, the fish caught from this city accounted for 3% of the world's catch.
This is a terrifying number. There are countless ports along the sea in the world, but this port city with a permanent population of less than 200,000 can produce one-thirtieth of the world's annual fish catch during its peak period. This city can only be described as magical.
Unfortunately, with the destruction of the Newfoundland fishing grounds, this once prosperous city has now fallen into silence. St. John's Bay, which was once crowded with many fishing boats, is now almost empty.
The air here used to be filled with a pungent fishy smell, but now there is only a faint smell of sea water.
When the two assault boats sailed into St. Johns Bay, they could see Signal Hill National Historical Memorial Park on the north shore of the bay from afar. The Cabot Tower in the park and the Fort Amherst Lighthouse on the south corner echoed each other, guiding the way home for those sailing far away.
After entering the bay area, the two speedboats did not go to the end of the bay. Instead, after driving forward for less than 1.5 kilometers, they began to dock northward and stopped at a pier on the north shore of the bay.
This pier is a private pier, not big, with only six small berths. The pier belongs to a Canadian restaurant called "Aunt Mary" on the north shore of the bay. This restaurant is very famous in St. John's and is well-known throughout St. John's for its authentic Canadian seafood dinner.
When Gege came to St. John's that year, she had a seafood dinner at Aunt Mary's Restaurant. Gege couldn't forget that meal for six years...
While on the boat, Gege had reserved a table at Aunt Mary's restaurant via satellite phone. When Yang Jing and his friends walked from the speedboat to the dock, they saw from a distance a fat aunt weighing more than 200 pounds standing at the restaurant door waiting for them.
"Hey, Aunt Mary, do you remember me? The little girl from the East?" After seeing this huge aunt, Gege came up to her with a smile.
"Wow, I didn't expect to see you again, my dear Sophia Bai. Of course I still remember you. How could Aunt Mary not remember such a beautiful oriental girl like you? Sophia, welcome to Aunt Mary's restaurant again. I have prepared the freshest and most delicious seafood for you. I promise you will like it."
Yang Jing was a little surprised by Aunt Mary's memory. He really didn't expect that the princess had only eaten a meal here six years ago and had only contacted her by phone in the morning, but Aunt Mary could still remember the princess.
Gege smiled and said, "Aunt Mary is not referring to the aunt in front of us. Although she is also called Aunt Mary, the real Aunt Mary is her grandmother. This restaurant has a history of more than 60 years and is very famous locally. After Aunt Mary's grandmother passed away, her mother became the new generation of Aunt Mary, and now she is Aunt Mary. The last time I came here, it was this Aunt Mary who received me. When I left that time, I left her a set of our domestic porcelain Fuwa souvenirs. So when I mentioned it on the phone this morning, Aunt Mary immediately thought of me."
