Chapter 448: Savage Roar

Just as they were about to reach the entrance of the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel on Spitsbergen Island, Yang Jing and Gege were suddenly stopped by three people.

Chris and Clark were about to step forward to expel the three people, but were stopped by Yang Jing.

"Hello, we are reporters from NRK TV. We are doing a live show, so we want to interview you." A white man in his forties explained immediately after stopping Yang Jing and his friends. One of the other two was obviously the host, who was explaining in front of the camera, and the other was a cameraman carrying a camera. Not far away, there was a live broadcast car parked there.

The camera was not focused on Yang Jing and the others for the time being, but was directly on the host. The female host with an extremely hot body was saying something in Norwegian.

This man was obviously a stagehand of the live broadcast team. Because it was a live broadcast program, some interviewees needed to be contacted by such staff in advance.

Yang Jing smiled and nodded and said, "Okay, what do I need to say later?"

The white man said in a low and quick voice: "Just answer whatever the host asks. Don't worry, there's nothing sensitive about it. Our host just saw the polar bear you raised, so he wanted to do an impromptu interview. Our program is to broadcast what we see and hear in Longyearbyen, so we hope you can cooperate."

Yang Jing looked at Gege and found that she seemed quite interested, so he nodded.

While the two were talking, the female host had finished her previous words and walked over with the cameraman. After approaching, the beautiful host first said a few words in Norwegian. After seeing the couple in front of her showing a puzzled look, she smiled and switched to English and said to the camera: "It seems that our interviewees don't understand our Norwegian, so I'll interview them in English."

The female host turned around and waved to Yang Jing and Gege, saying, "Hi, hello, this is the live broadcast of Polar Bears by NRK TV in Norway. I'm the host Jenny, and I'm glad to meet you."

Yang Jing and Gege held hands, each stretched out their other hand, smiled and waved at the camera, and said in English: "Hey, hello Jenny, hello everyone."

"Our program, 'Directly with Polar Bears', is a live broadcast that shows our viewers the real life and hunting of polar bears in Longyearbyen during the warm season. May I ask you two, have you watched this program?"

Yang Jing hesitated for a moment, then shook his head slightly with an apologetic look on his face. Gege beside him said, "I'm sorry, we have been sailing on the sea for a while, so we didn't see this program. But I did watch your live broadcast of "The Great Reindeer Migration" last year. It was a very exciting program."

"Wow, I didn't expect this beautiful lady to have watched our live broadcast of The Great Reindeer Migration last year. This is a really exciting answer."

When Yang Jing heard Gege talking about the program, he had a vague impression of it. It seemed to be in April last year, when he was still working on his graduation thesis. One day when he was watching TV to relax, he saw a live documentary about reindeer migration. Yang Jing forgot which TV station broadcast the program, but he was still very interested in it.

Because this live broadcast lasted for 168 hours, a full seven days. Yang Jing still remembers a classic line from the show: God created light, air, vegetables, birds, fish, living things on earth and humans in seven days. Now, we will use seven days to follow the footsteps of reindeer migration and show the audience how reindeer migrate.

This long live broadcast method, first created in Norway, is known as "slow TV" in Europe. This kind of anti-traditional and unconventional TV program unexpectedly achieved high ratings, attracting TV stations in Sweden, Finland and the UK's BBC to follow suit and launch similar programs with different themes and content.

This type of program is a marathon documentary with no plot, no dialogue, and is reported by all parties and proved by various data. However, this type of program has an addictive magic that can withstand repeated pushes. It is most suitable for viewers to download and fast forward, skip, or watch at a natural pace.

In 2009, to commemorate the centenary of the Bergen Railway, the Norwegian National Broadcasting Corporation, NRK TV, filmed the train's journey for more than seven hours, attracting about 1.2 million Norwegians to watch. In 2011, NRK broadcast a 134-hour Norwegian coastal trip live. In Norway, a country with a total population of only 5.2 million, 3.2 million people watched it on TV, and won the Guinness World Record for the longest live documentary.

In April last year, NRK TV spent 168 hours broadcasting the spectacular scene of Norwegian reindeer migrating from their winter pastures on the Finnmark Plateau to their summer pastures on the coast of Fala/Kval Island, which resulted in an even higher viewing frenzy.

Obviously, NRK TV station has tasted the sweetness and launched a live broadcast this year about close observation of polar bears. Coincidentally, Yang Jing and his team encountered it.

The female host was also very happy to hear Gege said that she had watched the program "Reindeer Migration". "By the way, I haven't asked you and your boyfriend's names yet. Are you Chinese?"

Gege smiled and nodded, "Yes, my fiancé and I are both from China. My name is Sophia Bai and my fiancé is Albert Yang." As soon as these words were said, the entire opening speech was over. The focus of the film crew was obviously not Yang Jing and Gege, but Dabai beside them.
