Chapter 169 Going Home
In the period leading up to the holiday, Gu Siyan practically turned into a spoiled brat, wanting to be with Jinran every day, which seriously affected Jinran's ability to complete her homework.
"Can you be a little more masculine? Like, the kind of man who can beat me up eight times a day?"
Gu Siyan asked, "???" Why is that?
Jinran shook her head and said, "In that case, I can give you the cold shoulder."
Gu Siyan: "..............." He hadn't even left yet, and the feelings had already faded.
Jinran went to the market to prepare things for her family. Since roast ducks can be stored for a long time in winter, she bought a few to take back for everyone to try.
I'll also buy a little bit of some famous local specialties, but I won't buy any clothes or anything like that. I'll take some fruit out of my spatial storage later, and that should be enough for the New Year's shopping.
On the day of departure, Jinran packed her bags. Gu Siyan drove over early in the morning, and as soon as he entered the house, he hugged Jinran tightly and wouldn't let go, making it difficult for Jinran to move.
Gu Siyan said in a whining tone, "Can't you really stay a few more days? Or should I go back with you for the New Year?"
Jinran said gloatingly, "What else? You've forgotten your mother after getting married, haven't you? You're such an ingrate. Gu Mama would be better off giving birth to a piece of barbecued pork."
Gu Siyan was still dawdling, "My eldest and second eldest brothers are both home for the New Year. It doesn't matter if they're here or not, it won't make a difference."
"But you have to think about my dad. If he sees you during the New Year, he won't be able to eat his New Year's Eve dinner."
Gu Siyan: "Is he really that hard to swallow?"
Jinran asked Gu Siyan to unpack the luggage; she just needed to finish up a little.
Gu Siyan finally managed to persuade Jinran to make a promise: "You'll be back before the sixth day of the lunar new year. Our school starts on the fifteenth, so we can go out and have some fun together."
Jinran was worn down and finally gave in.
After seeing Jinran off at the train station, Gu Siyan's eyes reddened, and he kept reminding her, "Call me when you get there. I know your arrival time. I've been keeping an eye on the phone. Don't forget, don't talk to anyone on the way. There are much fewer bad people around now."
This person is even more talkative than her father.
Jinran looked around to make sure no one was watching, then quickly kissed Gu Siyan and said with a smile, "Get out of the car quickly, don't expect me to take you with me."
Gu Siyan sighed; he had already figured out how to pay the fare.
Finally, Gu Siyan left with great reluctance.
Jinran tidied up her place, since she would be lying down for four more days. This time she had bought an upper bunk, so she didn't have to worry about running into weirdos anymore.
The journey was peaceful. Jinran slept when she was tired, read books when she had nothing to do, and took a quick shower and dealt with personal matters in her space in the evening, and then wandered around casually.
The four days passed quickly.
I had already contacted Mr. Shen beforehand, and he knew the exact arrival time. When Jinran easily walked out of the station with her large and small bags of luggage, Mr. Shen was already waiting.
"Nini, you're finally back! This train was delayed. I was afraid I had the wrong train number, so I asked several times. Luckily, I managed to pick you up." She then took the luggage from her.
Jinran was also very happy to see her father, whom she hadn't seen in a long time. She said in a spoiled tone, "There's only one train in the capital, we can't miss it. I'm so hungry, I just want to eat Mom's cooking."
Father Shen smiled and said, "Your mother was worried you'd be hungry, so she made noodles for you. There's an old saying: dumplings before getting on the train, noodles upon getting off. Now that you're home, you have to eat noodles. Your mother even said she'd make you two eggs."
The father and daughter happily pushed the cart home.
The father asked, "What are you carrying? Why is it so heavy? It's tilted the cart."
Jinran counted on her fingers and said, "There are also things from Gu Siyan's family, which they said were for you, your mother, and your grandparents. Grandma Gu even warmly invited you to visit the capital."
When Shen's father heard the name Gu Siyan, he curled his lip in disdain.
"By the way, where's my brother? Did he say when he's coming back?"
Mr. Shen said nonchalantly, "Who knows? He can come back whenever he wants. We won't lose our young man."
Jinran thought, "Does he have to be so heartless?!"
When they got home, Jinran was once again embraced by Ms. Wang Cuifen, who forced her to bury her face in her chest.
Once Ms. Wang Cuifen had had her fill of admiring it, she began to show her full concern. After hearing that the Gu family had given her a gift, she nodded in satisfaction.
Then he said, "I went up the mountain with you this autumn, and your uncles gave me a lot of mountain produce. You can take it with you as a return gift."
Jinran nodded in agreement.
