Chapter 213 A Son and a Daughter
Jinran's delivery was quick; she was wheeled in by the nurse and gave birth in less than an hour.
Grandma Gu kept saying, "Nini is so lucky. I've never heard of giving birth so quickly at my age."
Grandma Shen said with a smile, "Nini has always been a worry-free child. She has always known how to take care of me and her grandfather. I wouldn't say I've enjoyed the blessings of my son, but I've certainly benefited a lot from my granddaughter's good fortune."
A moment later, Jinran and the children were wheeled out. Gu Siyan didn't even look at the children before asking Jinran with concern, "Nini, are you alright? Are you in a lot of pain? Let's not have any more children in the future. You scared me half to death!"
Jinran said with a radiant smile, "I just didn't get pregnant enough, otherwise I could have given birth. I didn't feel anything at all."
Everyone fell silent, especially amidst the heart-wrenching cries of other women in labor. It felt eerily Versailles.
Back in the ward, Grandma Gu and Grandma Shen held the baby for their parents to see.
"This is my older brother, he weighs six pounds and two ounces."
"This is my younger sister, she weighs five pounds and four ounces."
Mrs. Gu couldn't stop smiling. They were twins, a boy and a girl! Could there be a better meaning?
Looking at the baby whose eyes were not yet open, Jinran couldn't honestly say that the baby was cute. Nor did any maternal warmth spontaneously arise within her.

Grandpa Gu, Grandpa Shen, and Mr. Gu and Mr. Shen all came.
But to everyone's surprise, Jinran had already given birth.
They were thinking of doing it in the middle of the night.
Shen's father asked Jinran worriedly if she had suffered. Jinran shook her head and smiled, saying no, it just felt like she sneezed and the baby was born.

Only Gu Siyan looked proud, but no one knew what he was proud of.
The babies started crying, and Jinran didn't have any milk yet, so she could only give them water to soothe their stomachs. It was only then that Jinran felt tired; she was sleepy and thought she should take a nap.
Grandma Gu said she would go home first to make something nice for Jinran, otherwise she would be hungry when she woke up. Grandma Chen said she would help her.

Because of Gu's mother, Jinran stayed in a single room, which made her more comfortable.
Wang Cuifen said gratefully, "My dear mother-in-law, you're really capable. You found a private room for Nini. Otherwise, I was afraid the child would get lost. I didn't even dare to close my eyes to sleep."
Mrs. Gu smiled and said, "Don't say such polite things. They are all our own children. I just feel sorry for Nini."
Gu Siyan, carefree as ever, fell asleep alongside Nini.
Gu's mother said helplessly, "My son is such a disappointment, he has absolutely no sense of propriety."
Wang Cuifen defended him, saying, "Don't say that. Our youngest son is also tired. He's been through a lot with us all day. He was even more nervous than we were. The young couple has a good relationship."

Grandpa Gu said he'd wait until he got back and looked it up in the dictionary before making the announcement at the full moon celebration.
Gu Siyan curled her lip, thinking that he was quite cultured, but it took him so long to think about it.
