Chapter 182 The Gu Family's Dinner

Chapter 182 The Gu Family's Dinner

On the way, Gu Siyan kept pestering her, saying that she wanted to wear the same clothes as Jinran in the future, and then she touched her own clothes to express her liking for them again.

Jinran ignored the idiot the whole time.

Upon arriving at the Gu family residence, Gu Siyan got out of the car, opened the door for Jinran, and then shouted, "Big brother, second brother, come out quickly!"

Jinran was wondering why they had invited other people along.

Then Jinran witnessed a scene that left her speechless.

Gu Siyan's eldest and second eldest brothers came out and asked, "Little brother, what's wrong?"

Gu Siyan said without any embarrassment, "My boyfriend brought a lot of things, and I can't let these new clothes get dirty. Could you help me carry them in? By the way, my clothes are the same as my boyfriend's."

"Brother Gu, Second Brother Gu," this younger brother is such a troublesome thing.

Jinran felt like she had dug out a 100-story building with her feet, which was incredibly embarrassing.

Gu Siyan unconsciously called out to Jinran, "Come on, let's leave this place to our eldest and second brothers. Let's not get our clothes dirty, or Grandma and Mom will be happy to see us."

Whether she was happy or not, Jinran knew that her sister-in-law and second sister-in-law were somewhat unhappy.

The Gu family lived in a two-story building. Gu's eldest sister-in-law and second sister-in-law also heard Gu Siyan's shouts and wondered what was wrong. Then... they felt uneasy.

Then she saw Jinran's clothes and appearance, which were completely different from the image of a country girl she had in mind. She was so fashionable.

Gu Siyan introduced them, and Jinran greeted them with a smile. Gu's eldest sister-in-law also responded with a smile, but Gu's second sister-in-law's smile seemed a little forced.

Jinran didn't mind, since they might not see each other often in the future.

While Grandma Gu was holding Jinran's hand and asking about her well-being, Gu's eldest and second eldest brothers finally finished moving all the things.

Gu Siyan complained, "This is too slow. You guys need to train harder, or you'll all tarnish the reputation of the public security system."

"Brother Gu, Second Brother Gu," So, why couldn't Mom have a younger sister but had to have a younger brother?

Grandma Gu looked at the food scattered on the ground and scolded, "You child, why didn't you stop your family from taking things? Besides, how did you carry them on the bus? You're being too polite."

Jinran smiled and said, "My grandma said that these are all mountain products from Northeast China that she got from the mountains, such as wild vegetables and pine nuts. They are readily available in our area, but they are hard to find in Beijing. My grandma said that although the items are not expensive, they are still local specialties and a token of her appreciation."

Grandma Gu and Mom Gu both nodded in satisfaction.

Gu Ersao asked with a smile, "I've never seen this in the city before, it's quite a novelty. It's not bad, though. If we eat it well, will Lao San's girlfriend still treat us well?"

Jinran remained silent.

The short-tempered Xiaoyan is online: "Second sister-in-law, what did you say? You want to eat more? This is not right. After all, I haven't eaten anything you brought back from your parents' home since you and second brother got married. I won't let my boyfriend carry it all by himself."

Brother Gu frowned and scolded, "What nonsense are you talking about? That's your sister-in-law's way of showing respect to the elders. What does it have to do with you? If you can't speak properly, then shut your mouth."

Gu Siyan said cheekily, "Second brother, they say you should teach your son in public and your wife in private. You two don't have any children, so you should have a good talk with her when you have nothing to do at night. This can't go on. You're supposed to be a member of the Women's Federation, don't let people laugh at you."

Gu Ersao blushed deeply after being spoken to.

Gu Siyan is usually gentle and refined, but in the Gu family he is a real little tyrant. He was born late in life, and his older brother Gu is twenty years older than him, old enough to be his father.

So everyone spoiled him and dared not provoke him easily. Sometimes when Gu's father wanted to discipline his temper, Gu's grandmother would stop him and say, "Our Yan Yan has not been indulging in debauchery or disgracing our ancestors. Moreover, he is doing so well in his studies and has such an excellent job. You are just being arrogant and do not know how to cherish your good child."

Gu Siyan became increasingly domineering at home, criticizing everyone he met, especially his eldest and second sisters-in-law. He showed them no leniency whatsoever.

Jinran thought to herself that opening the door to let Gu Siyan out was the right thing to do.

The scene quieted down. Grandma Gu lowered her eyes, held Jinran's hand, and stroked it gently, as if to comfort her, or perhaps out of boredom.

Jinran felt it was time to show off her virtuousness.

"Aunt Qu, let me tell you how to make these things. Oh, and there's also Acanthopanax senticosus. I'll make a cold salad for it later. Professor Gu mentioned it to me before, saying he loves it but he hasn't been able to buy it. I told him when I got home, and my grandma got some for me."

With a beaming smile, Gu's mother repeatedly said yes, thinking to herself that Nini was the most sensible and understanding, while the eldest and second daughters-in-law were completely useless.

But the third brother is right. They've been married for so long, why don't the eldest and second brothers have a child yet?

After introducing the various ways to eat wild vegetables, Jinran also explained how to prepare certain foods and which ones to save for later consumption.

Originally, I was going to help with the cooking, but Gu's mother refused. "We have Aunt Liu in our family. She's a good cook and will be here soon. She had something come up today, but she'll be back in a bit. You've just arrived at your in-laws' house, so we can't let you work in the kitchen. That would show respect. Besides, we don't have those old-fashioned customs in our family, so don't worry."

Jinran smiled and nodded.
