Chapter 339 Tracking the Monkey
The covered pits and wooden stakes tied to the trees can easily cause ropes to be hung up if you are not careful. Although the technical requirements are not high, they are everywhere, and it is not easy to walk in safely.
"How's it going over there?" Li Zhuang asked the person on the other end of the intercom in a low voice.
"We were moving very slowly and were not discovered," said Liu Yang.
"Be careful, the traps here are set up by professionals. If you are not careful... squeak... squeak..." Li Zhuang was halfway through his words when he heard the chaotic calls of monkeys in the front. Lu Weiyi said calmly, "We have been discovered."
Then the people in the village seemed to have received some kind of notice. Children and women quickly rushed back home and looked at the doors of the houses. Men ran towards them with various tools in their hands.
"Who are you?" I heard the voice before I saw anyone.
Lu Weiyi looked in the direction where the sound came from and saw a young boy standing on a tree, holding a bow and arrow and aiming at them.
"Poisonous," Li Zhuang whispered.
"It's best not to move. The arrow is coated with poison. Anyone who touches it will die." A steady male voice sounded beside him. Looking through the leaves, the man was about 20 or 30 years old. One of his eyes was covered by a circle of black cloth, and the other eye that was exposed had a sharp look.
"You stole our things." Lu Weiyi looked at the boy who spoke first. He remembered that back, and he hadn't changed his clothes yet.
The boy choked up and looked at the man next to him awkwardly.
"Just some pots and pans, not much food," the older man deadpanned.
Lu Weiyi didn't want to waste time explaining things to them. After using his mental power to scan the number of people around him, he was about to take action.
Liu Yang's voice came from the walkie-talkie that had been turned on, "Our pursuit artillery is aimed at the village."
As if afraid that they had not received the message, several gunshots rang out in the village, followed by the crying of children.
Lu Weiyi used his mental power to probe over and saw that several shots were fired at the house from the village. It was obviously a warning and also a reminder to them that they did have weapons on their side.
There were rustling sounds under the cover of the surrounding trees, revealing the traces of more than a dozen men. They looked at each other, then looked behind them worriedly, and finally set their sights on the man in front of them.
"Aren't they just a few pots? I'll just give them back to you. Is it necessary to hurt someone because of these things?" The young boy shouted angrily and looked at the man next to him anxiously, "Brother Chuan?"
"If I want to hurt anyone, you'll have no chance of survival." Lu Weiyi said in a serious tone, pouring out a huge amount of mental power. The dozen or so people hiding in Lin Zishu fell directly to the ground. Some of them even triggered mechanical traps, and were not injured until they were helped by the leading man.
"What do you want to do?" the man asked.
"Our teammates disappeared when your monkey came over"
"It wasn't the monkeys who did it. They just took some pots and food and never hurt anyone," said the young boy.
"What are you doing here?" the older man asked.
"We received a call for help from nearby and came here to rescue people." Li Zhuang did not hide it. This place was obviously not far away, and maybe they knew something about the weapons research and development center.
"608?" The man really knew, "Are you from Kyoto?"
Li Zhuang nodded.
"Which force?"
Seeing that he asked this, it seemed that he was unaware of the situation in Kyoto, so the two of them didn't say anything nonsense and simply signed it under Lu Xiao's name.
"Flame Team? Never heard of them." The man looked alert.
"It used to be the Zhuang family's team, but something happened later, about half a month ago, and they replaced the Zhuang family and became one of the three major forces in Kyoto together with the Zhao and Zheng families," Li Zhuang explained.
“Who is in charge?”
Li Zhuang looked at the person in front of him and turned to look at Lu Weiyi.
Lu Weiyi said, "Lu Xiao".
The man pondered for a moment and said, "My name is Cheng Chuan. I know the news nearby, but I can't take you into the village. There is a place outside the village. You can follow me there and I will tell you about the situation nearby, including... the R&D center."
"Brother Chuan," the younger boy pulled him and said nervously. As soon as he said this, the chirping sounds came from the woods again. The monkeys hiding behind became restless. The boy hurried back and blew a few rhythmic whistles.
"Are you a soldier from the R&D center?" Li Zhuang asked bluntly. Seeing the man looking at him, he said, "I don't think the traps around here are made casually."
"You don't look like soldiers," Cheng Chuan said bluntly. He hadn't received any news from the outside world for a long time and was not sure whether there had been any changes in the power in Kyoto. But the two people in front of him were obviously not soldiers. However, the difference in their strength was too great, so he could only compromise.
"Lu Xiao is my uncle. I don't have time to talk to you. Either you get out of the way and let us in, or you die here and we go in." After Lu Weiyi said this, the mental force that was suppressing several people suddenly increased. The people who were pressed to the ground groaned, obviously in pain.
Cheng Chuan clenched his fists tightly and said nothing.
During the silence, Lu Weiyi suddenly felt as if there was some movement around him. After a quick scan, he discovered that there were more than a dozen zombies outside the village heading towards them.
No trace was seen during the previous exploration, but this time it came out from nowhere and in an accurate direction, so it was obviously not a random collision.
Lu Weiyi looked at the man in front of him and saw that the black pupil of his uncovered eye had turned slightly white.
Control the zombies!
Lu Weiyi suddenly remembered that there seemed to be such a person in his previous life.
"You are depressed..." Lu Weiyi stopped talking halfway. Li Zhuang looked at him with a puzzled look and then looked at Cheng Chuan.
Cheng Chuan narrowed his eyes and understood what he had not said.
"Don't waste your energy. We just want to get information and save people. If you keep trying to stop us..." Lu Weiyi didn't say anything else, but directly used his mental power to deal with all the zombies that were surrounding him.
"Cough cough..." Cheng Chuan suddenly spat out two mouthfuls of blood, and the boy next to him hurriedly supported him to prevent him from falling from the tree.
"Our village is full of the elderly, the weak, women and children. Swear you won't hurt anyone," the boy shouted.
"If they don't come to provoke me," Lu Weiyi didn't say anything final.
"Xia Xia" Cheng Chuan shouted.
Xia Qiao shook his head and said, "Let them go."
Lu Weiyi withdrew his mental power, Xia Qiao jumped down from the tree and whistled a few times. Five or six monkeys about two meters tall jumped over from behind and bared their teeth at them. Li Zhuang alertly took out his gun to prepare for them, but they helped the person on the ground up.
"They won't hurt anyone." Xia Qiao walked closer and saw that he looked no more than seventeen or eighteen years old. He was not tall, probably less than 1.7 meters. He looked at people like a cat with his almond-shaped eyes, and when he pursed his lips, a pair of dimples appeared on his cheeks.
"Isn't this just to be prepared?" Li Zhuang looked at him with a smile, without loosening his grip on the gun.
Xia Qiao glared at him and said aggrievedly, "Follow me."
With Xia Qiao leading the way, the two entered the village safely. Everyone in the village stood in front of their doors and looked at them vigilantly. It was just as he said, the elderly, the weak, women and children, and the only young people left were the dozen or so who had just been taken out.
"Can you let your people come over? Our village can't beat you, so there's no need for you to waste those things." Xia Qiao said angrily, while Cheng Chuan followed beside him, always on guard.
"I won't let them do it. Let's talk about the news nearby first." Li Zhuang didn't respond and changed the subject.
Speaking of this, Xia Qiao's expression restrained, "There are many things around here that could attack people, but if it's about catching people, it can only be mutant plants."
"Let me tell you," Cheng Chuan continued, as if recalling something, and after a moment he told them about the situation near the research institute.
Just as Li Zhuang said, Cheng Chuan was indeed a soldier in the institute, protecting the safety of some top scientific researchers before the end of the world.
After the earthquake, the entire Cangshan Mountain changed, causing the original access road to disappear. At least half of the institute's area was covered, and all that remained was a better quality scientific research building.
The survivors tried to contact the outside world for help at the beginning, but the news was interrupted for a while, and then zombies appeared, and some of the people in the science academy died again.
Later, the people inside awakened their special powers and started thinking of sending people out to ask for help, but they found that the animals and plants in the mountains had mutated, and they couldn't defeat them at all, so they had to retreat.
"That was when the mutant plant came into everyone's sight. It looked like a creeper, with branches and leaves climbing everywhere, but they were dotted with pink flowers. At first, the branches were no different from ordinary plants, except that they were aggressive. It wasn't until the rest of the people noticed that people around them often disappeared inexplicably that they realized that it used its flowers to make people sleepy, and then took them away to replenish energy. Its branches also became thicker and thicker."
"Your team should have a lot of psychics, otherwise it wouldn't have led him to come so far to attack you. It prefers psychics to ordinary people. The higher the level, the easier they are to attack. People who are captured will not die immediately. It has a granary on the front wall."
Seeing the two people's puzzled looks, Cheng Chuan explained, "The entire wall is hung with people with special abilities that he has captured."
"Someone at the research institute has done a special study on it, and finally concluded that it is a combination of ivy and a plant called hypnotic flower. At first, its range was only in the dormitory building, and later the entire surrounding area became its territory. The survivors could only retreat to the underground laboratory. It seems that they have not given up asking the outside world for help."
Cheng Chuan looked at the two people in front of him with a sarcastic smile on his face, "You should have come here for the cars and weapons in the yard, right? What a pity that they are buried."
Li Zhuang and Lu Weiyi didn't say anything, and listened to him continue, "They probably didn't tell you about the situation here, otherwise you wouldn't be so reckless and unprepared. That thing is not easy to deal with, but plants are afraid of fire, so they won't come near as long as there are fires all around."
"Do you know a giant monkey? About three or four meters tall. They took my child away," Li Zhuang suddenly asked.
