Chapter 233: Encountering an Island
Before the three men got close to the coastline, they were discovered. Dozens of people were fishing on the opposite coast. Not far from the coast, there was a small fishing boat with several shirtless men. Not long after they cast the fishing nets, several women on the shore came with various buckets.
The first reaction of the group of people who saw the motorboat was to be stunned. Then a woman ran towards them, crying and shouting, "Are you here to rescue? Are you here to save us?"
Xu Sa stopped the motorboat and looked at the group of people in front of him without saying a word.
"Hurry!" a burly man on the boat shouted loudly. The remaining people came to their senses and worked together to drag a fishing net full of fish out of the water.
The woman was still questioning like a madman. Compared to the other women who were dark and thin, she looked very fair, with a well-proportioned figure. Her clothes were simple but not torn. Her hair was neatly combed, and her exposed hands looked tender and fresh.
No one on the shore paid any attention to them, and Lu Weiyi and his group didn't dare to speak.
When all the fish were caught in the net and the fishing boat docked, the man jumped off and turned to walk towards them, pulling the woman and pushing her towards the shore.
"My wife is in poor mental health and hasn't come to visit for over a year. Where are you from?" The man stared at them expressionlessly with a wooden face.
"I'm just passing by," Xu Sa said with a smile, "Excuse me, big brother, where is this?"
"…several islands merged together, formerly called Terayama Islands." The man turned his head to look at the islands behind him, with a fleeting look of barely perceptible confusion.
This is a very famous oil island, half a country away from where they are.
Lu Weiyi and Xu Sa both had the same look of confusion in their eyes. Lu Weiyi even secretly opened the map and took a look to confirm that what he was thinking was correct.
"Are you lost? What happened in the country?" the man said bluntly, "My name is Dong Hongyuan, a native of Sishan. Do you mind coming down to chat? We haven't seen anyone from outside for a year."
The three of them were silent for a moment, and Xu Sa looked at Lu Weiyi and asked about his weapon.
Lu Weiyi nodded slightly.
"To be honest, we are indeed lost," said Xu Sa, directing Liu Rui to bring the motorboat closer. Lu Weiyi took the opportunity to release some supplies.
The three of them jumped off the motorboat, and Lu Weiyi quietly took away most of the gasoline.
Dong Hongyuan still maintained a distance neither too far nor too close, looking cold and unapproachable, "Let someone carry it up. The wind and waves are strong here tonight, and I don't know where it will float to if we keep it up all night."
As soon as he raised his chin, several neat-looking men came forward immediately. Xu Sa pushed Lu Weiyi to stop him from coming forward, suggesting that he should be alert. She and Liu Rui moved forward and said apologetically, "My brother has been in poor health for many years. Thank you very much."
Dong Hongyuan did not comment. He stepped forward and lifted one side directly, showing how strong he was.
"It's okay, where are you from?"
"Is there something wrong with the country? All contact methods are cut off."
"Do you know the way out?"
Several men asked questions at once, and Xu Sa listened with surprise from time to time, "You haven't contacted outsiders for a year?" "Then how do you live?" "Have you never been out?"
He didn't answer a single question and sent all the questions back. It seemed like they were chatting very lively, but in fact, it was Xu Sa who collected information about the other party alone.
Several people lifted up the motorboat, and also lifted up their small fishing boat, and placed them together in a corner of the shore.
The group walked towards the shore. The crazy woman before tried to move forward again, and Xu Sa quickly stood in front of Lu Weiyi.
"I won't make trouble, I won't make trouble." The woman's eyes were abnormally bright. She raised her hands and swore, staring at the three people. "Where are you from? My name is He Mei, and I'm a student in Kyoto. There was an earthquake here. Did you know about it? Did the country know about it? Why didn't anyone come to save us?"
Her expression suddenly changed without warning and she roared, "We are waiting for rescue!"
Xu Sa was startled.
Lu Weiyi, on the other hand, looked normal and asked Dong Hongyuan, "What happened to her?"
"During the earthquake, I saw the teacher died, and then... zombies appeared... something similar, and all her classmates died," said Dong Hongyuan.
"Nonsense, nonsense!" He Mei shouted angrily, "They are fine, they are fine at all, you killed them, you are a murderer, you are also a rapist, I will call the police to arrest you, you are all criminals..."
There is so much information here that I don’t know how to respond.
He Mei kept muttering to herself, and she did look abnormal. The other people in the group seemed to have gotten used to her behavior, and some of the women even looked slightly annoyed.
Dong Hongyuan held He Mei's hand with an expressionless face, while the others walked upstairs carrying various newly caught fish.
Xu Sa kept asking for information from the people around him, and Dong Hongyuan noticed it but didn't stop him.
After going ashore, we saw several huge white buildings in a row.
"Those are oil storage tanks. We have a large oil extraction site here. There used to be many more of them, but now there are only five intact ones left." A middle-aged man saw Lu Weiyi staring at him and took the initiative to introduce himself, "My name is Liu Run. I'm an engineer there. What's your name, little brother?"
"Lu Weiyi..." Lu Weiyi looked at the surrounding facilities, "Can we still mine here?"
Liu Run shook his head and said, "We need to detect underground oil and see if these equipment can be used. These are all major projects that require manpower and material resources."
As soon as he finished speaking, he was about to continue asking questions when Dong Hongyuan had already led them into a yard.
The courtyard was destroyed and rebuilt, and the bricks on the wall looked like they were taken down from somewhere else. Men and women were coming and going in the courtyard, busy with their own things. At first glance, one could tell the city was poor.
When they saw someone coming in, a few of them called out "Brother Dong" and greeted him. They looked at the three of them, and soon put down their work and pointed at the three of them.
I felt like a monkey in a zoo.
The high-rise building directly opposite was torn apart, with only three floors left. It looked like a former dormitory. There was a unified corridor outside. A man and a woman were leaning against the railing and talking. They heard the noise and looked over.
"Hey, handsome brother." The woman finished her words, flipped over from the third floor, got out of the railing, climbed up in a few steps, jumped down, and walked a few steps to Xu Sa. A single small camisole and tight jeans made her curves stand out. Her almond-shaped eyes were pretty and aggressive, and the lingering marks on her neck made her look even more ambiguous.
Liu Rui blocked it vigilantly, his eyes staring like a wolf facing its prey.
Xu Sa was amused by his rare sensitivity. She put her arm around his shoulders and pulled him back like a dog.
"Fuck, you damn G" the woman rolled her eyes at the two of them, then turned her gaze to Lu Weiyi. Her eyes lit up again, and before she could open her mouth, Xu Sa said, "Beauty, my brother has a husband."
The woman paused, turned around and left.
The men around laughed loudly, and some shouted, "Qin Yu, come and take a look at this handsome brother of mine."
"Get lost, you ugly bitch!" the woman named Qin Yu cursed with a smile, but no one got angry. Instead, they continued to make dirty jokes happily.
The man upstairs also jumped down, listened to the situation of the three people, and came closer, "Hello, I'm Eric Antonio, you can call me Eric."
This is a typical foreigner, with blond hair and blue eyes. He looks more Western than Dean's childish face with black eyes. His features are sharp like those of a European or American. Even when he speaks like a gentleman, one can still vaguely sense his inner strength and the desire for control that comes from being in a high position.
As soon as the name came out, the three of them tensed up. Liu Rui, who was the most impatient, said directly to Xu Sa, "He, he..."
"Yes, it's a foreigner," Xu Sa held his hand and explained with a smile, "I'm sorry, kid has never seen a foreigner."
"The person in charge here," Dong Hongyuan helped to introduce it, then turned around and grabbed He Mei and left.
"Let me go, let me go," He Mei struggled and cried to several people, "Save me, save me."
"What is this?" Xu Sa looked at Eric.
"Oh, couple fun." Eric shrugged and smiled friendly.
Xu Sa withdrew his gaze, and Eric asked someone to bring a few stools. They sat in the yard and started chatting.
Except for the person who was cooking, everyone else was standing around, listening to the two people talking and asking questions from time to time. It felt like a tea party.
Lu Weiyi sat at the back door bored, his eyes swept across Eric's face, and found no similarities with Antonio. He then emitted his mental power to investigate the surrounding situation.
People in the yard were talking openly, discussing in low voices whether they could go out or not.
This place really seems to be isolated from the world.
Further out, except for the surrounding inhabited area, other places have been completely reorganized. The squeezed ruins of houses are mixed with asphalt roads, the underground geological layers are intertwined with reinforced concrete, and it is difficult to stand on the uneven ground. There are still people constantly rummaging out things on it.
According to Eric, there are more than 300 people here in total. A tsunami occurred in the early stage of the earthquake, and several surrounding small islands and the adjacent inland areas were displaced. When the situation calmed down, they were already independent on the sea surface. Not many people survived, and later a zombie incident occurred, killing a group of people. Now the remaining ones are all here.
Lu Weiyi felt that he was lucky to have survived this.
Xu Sa also gave a brief account of what was happening in the outside world. Upon learning that the situation was like this across the country, Eric was silent for a moment and did not look surprised. However, the others seemed to be very panicked.
"It seems that I am unlucky," Eric shook his head and sighed, "I heard about my brother and wanted to come and see him, but I didn't expect to be trapped in this country."
Liu Rui had already hinted at it silently, but he didn't say a word at this time. Lu Weiyi didn't care at all. After Xu Sa responded that it was indeed unlucky, he turned to ask the people around him what they usually ate, leaving Eric no chance to say what he was holding back.
That night, the group had dinner together and cooked the various fish they had caught in various ways.
The seasoning is incomplete and there is a fishy smell.
The people around seemed to be used to it, joking with each other and eating with big mouthfuls.
Qin Yu took two bites, then threw it aside and cried out in pain, "When will this day end?"
She turned her gaze to the three people's backpacks, blinked her eyes and said eagerly, "Brother, do you have anything to eat? I can play games with you guys in the evening."
"It's a game for adults."
