Erbao lowered his voice and asked, "Master, where are we going?"
The mad Taoist patted her head: "Go outside for a walk. Eat your snacks. Don't worry, this trip will be safe and sound."
"oh."
Erbao just focused on eating snacks, his cheeks puffed out like a little squirrel.
Upon hearing this, the assassins outside felt even more awe: There was nothing they could do; this mad Taoist was simply too powerful!
When we first caught them, we were afraid they would cause trouble, so we tied them up and gagged them.
Who knew that when they were about to tear the cloth out of their mouths to give them something to eat and some water, the mad Taoist priest said, "You have an older brother, and he is still alive."
The assassin was stunned, as if struck by lightning.
He was sold into slavery when he was around ten years old, on the way to escape famine, all to save his sick older brother.
When I was a child, my older brother raised me and we had a very close relationship.
My brother was seriously ill and we didn't have the money to treat him, so my father sold him.
He didn't blame his parents; he was only worried about whether his brother could be saved. He hadn't told anyone about this.
But the Mad Taoist priest saw right through it with just one sentence.
Seeing his expression change drastically, the mad Taoist comforted him, "I won't make things difficult for you, nor will I ask you to let us go. But if you treat us well along the way, when someone comes to take us away, I will tell you where my brother is."
So the mad Taoist and his apprentice successfully removed the ropes and gags, and even got the assassin to willingly drive their cart and buy them food...
Erbao was already used to this situation.
If one's master's ability to deceive people is second to none in the world, then no one would dare to claim to be number one.
The master and apprentice were sitting comfortably in the car, with food and drink provided, except for not being allowed to stick their heads out or shout.
This is completely different from the suffering that Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao thought they were experiencing.
Seeing that there was a checkpoint outside, the assassin went over and, for some reason, the man waved his hand, and the car passed through.
Meanwhile, Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao, led by their guide Liu Wang, began their journey over mountains and valleys.
The mountain road is steep, and in many places it is even a cliff.
Liu Wang was initially worried that Shen Qingyu, this delicate-skinned woman, would be a burden, but he never expected her to have amazing stamina.
She had been walking in the mountains for two hours without stopping, and not only was she able to keep up, she hadn't complained at all!
That's really impressive.
As Liu Wang watched Shen Qingyu keep up without even breaking a sweat, his expression grew increasingly strange.
When they took a break, Liu Wang said he needed to urinate, but he went into the woods and tried to run away.
If Qi Yunxiao hadn't noticed something was wrong with his expression and brought him back, he would have escaped.
With both arms severed, Liu Wang was in so much pain that his face was covered in sweat. He knelt down with a thud, kowtowing and begging for mercy.
"Please spare my life, gentlemen! I have an eighty-year-old mother to support and a young child to raise. Please don't kill me. I promise to obey from now on."
Shen Qingyu sighed with a sullen face.
Qi Yunxiao went up and kicked him: "Why are you running?"
Liu Wang said with a mournful face, "I can send you there, but if the court finds out I've become a spy, my family of seven or eight people will all die!"
"How did you come to the conclusion that we are spies?"
Shen Qingyu, unable to bear it any longer, also kicked him.
Liu Wang felt even more aggrieved: "With your delicate skin and outstanding appearance, you should normally be a wealthy lady raised in a rich family."
"If they weren't specially trained spies, how could they possibly withstand such a high-intensity trek through mountains and rivers?"
Shen Qingyu coughed, almost unable to reply.
So he fled in terror because he was too strong?
She thought for a moment, then stretched out her originally fair and delicate hands: "I won't show you my feet, but look at these hands."
Liu Wang was speechless for a moment when he saw this.
Her hands, which were so fair and smooth without a single callus, now had several fresh blisters and scratches.
This happened when climbing up or down steep slopes and cliffs, and the force was used to grab onto rough objects like vines, branches, and rocks...
Now that things have come to this, Shen Qingyu has no choice but to make things clear: "My child has been taken to the Xia Kingdom. I dare not take the main road because I'm afraid that if people find out we are chasing after them, it will harm my child."
"If it were you, and your child were taken away, would you still be afraid of hardship, fatigue, or pain?"
At this point, what else could Liu Wang not understand?
He kowtowed repeatedly, saying, "I misunderstood! Please, sir, put my arm back in place, and we'll set off immediately."
Qi Yunxiao felt very sorry for Shen Qingyu when he saw the blisters on her hands.
But he still had to walk, and he knew that he couldn't pop the blisters on Shen Qingyu's hands and feet for the time being, otherwise they would easily become infected and swollen.
That would make things even more difficult.
He concealed his heartache and carefully took Shen Qingyu's hand: "For the rest of the journey, you have to ask me to hold your hand."
Shen Qingyu waved her hand to break free: "The child is more important. The road is too narrow, it's inconvenient to hold him."
Seeing that Qi Yunxiao was about to speak, she quickly added, "Don't worry, if it's too dangerous, I'll definitely ask you to pull me out."
Qi Yunxiao felt a little relieved, but he still reached out to help her up from time to time.
When they reached the steep cliff, Qi Yunxiao went down first to act as a human ladder, and then helped Shen Qingyu down slowly.
Liu Wang's arm was taken back by Qi Yunxiao. He said no more and just kept his head down and continued on his way. Finally, before dark, he arrived at a small village at the foot of the mountain.
As he watched the smoke rising from the village chimneys, Liu Wang pointed to the small village in the twilight and said, "If you go five miles further over from this village, you'll reach the main road leading to the first prefecture of Xia Kingdom. There will be more people there then, so I can only take you this far."
