As Shen Qingyu stepped out of the room, the boasting outside abruptly stopped.
Erbao happily jumped down from his father's arms and ran towards Shen Qingyu.
"mother!"
That sweet call made everyone laugh.
"You've been with your mother these past few days, and you're still so clingy to her?"
This was Qi Yunxiao joking.
Erbao had already jumped into her mother's arms, clinging to Shen Qingyu's neck while energetically arguing with her father: "This is my mother, of course I'm attached to her!"
Shen Qingyu had mixed feelings.
Erbao never used to talk so much.
It's only been a month or two since I last saw him, and he's already become a chatterbox.
The original owner of this body hadn't exactly treated her well for the previous six years, but she didn't seem to care. It was as if a few months of kindness had already healed all her childhood traumas...
Shen Qingyu tilted her head and kissed Erbao's cheek.
Erbao was clearly stunned for a moment, then quickly turned his head and kissed Shen Qingyu's cheek.
"Mom! I'm so happy! I love your kisses." Erbao hugged Shen Qingyu's neck tightly, his smile so wide his eyes disappeared.
Shen Qingyu sincerely praised, "I'm so happy that you can express your feelings. I also love to hug and kiss you."
As soon as he finished speaking, Erbao kissed Shen Qingyu several more times!
Qi Yunxiao watched with envy: I also like kisses and hugs...
However, Qi Yunxiao could not say it in public.
I'm suddenly a little jealous of my younger child, who can be so carefree... Sigh!
After praising Erbao, Shen Qingyu nodded to the mad Taoist to express her gratitude.
"Thank you so much, Master, for taking such good care of Erbao these past few months. If it weren't for you, she wouldn't be so willing to share her heartfelt thoughts with me."
The mad Taoist priest just smiled and nodded.
This sweet little baby is truly the best gift God has given me.
Not only are they considerate of others' feelings, but they also have exceptionally keen observation skills.
Now, having traveled all over the country for so long, she's developed a knack for talking.
Given more time, once she has mastered all her skills, her future will naturally be smooth sailing.
It was worth it for us to be master and disciple.
Once everyone was there, we prepared to head home.
The group tidied themselves up and prepared to leave, but just as they stepped out the door, they heard a wail coming from next door.
Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao exchanged a surprised glance, hesitating whether to meddle or not.
If they were within the territory of Xia Kingdom, the two of them would definitely not hesitate and would have left immediately.
But this is, after all, in the Great Qi.
If we don't care at all, can we still be considered people of the Great Qi?
So Qi Yunxiao signaled the Dragon Guards to go and ask.
The Dragon Guard replied shortly afterward.
The deputy commander of the border garrison lives next door, and the one who was just wailing was a female lead in an opera troupe.
"Why are you crying?" Shen Qingyu asked curiously.
"Can the garrison directly purchase civilian housing on their own?" Qi Yunxiao's face darkened.
Even though he wasn't in the military, he knew that soldiers weren't allowed to live outside without permission.
As the deputy commander of the garrison, he must treat the battalion as his home.
Not to mention the opera troupe.
The Dragon Guard briefly explained: "The deputy commander said he wanted the opera troupe to stay and perform for a few more days, but the troupe was unwilling, so the deputy commander got angry and beat up the old troupe leader."
Qi Yunxiao was silent for two seconds, then turned and walked towards the next room.
Knock on the door, the door opened, and a fat man with a full beard opened the door, glaring at Qi Yunxiao with eyes as big as copper bells: "And who is this?"
Qi Yunxiao took out his token and flashed it at the fat man: "Are you Jiang Hai? Deputy Commander Jiang?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Hai looked Qi Yunxiao up and down for a while: "Are you the heir of the Marquis of Qingping's mansion?"
Qi Yunxiao nodded: "It's me."
"What do you want?" Jiang Hai put his hands on his hips, adopting a "I don't welcome you" attitude.
Qi Yunxiao pointed inside: "What's that crying and wailing coming from inside?"
"What's it to you?" Jiang Hai raised his chin, his impatience no longer concealed.
Qi Yunxiao chuckled: "I'm sorry, before I left the capital, His Majesty gave me a mission to patrol with the Imperial Guards. So, when I discovered something, I had to ask about it."
Jiang Hai frowned and looked Qi Yunxiao up and down again, especially his forehead.
Qi Yunxiao had already washed away his disguise, and his dark forehead was quite conspicuous.
Perhaps because he had finally confirmed Qi Yunxiao's identity, Jiang Hai suddenly changed his expression and laughed, "Then there really is going to be a misunderstanding."
"A theatrical troupe came a few days ago. We suggested they perform for the border troops for a couple of days to help them relax, but they absolutely refused..."
As he spoke, Jiang Hai's expression shifted, revealing arrogance and pride, unwavering determination, and a hypocritical smile.
Qi Yunxiao's expression softened, and he smiled: "How come I remember that His Majesty issued an order that no unauthorized personnel are allowed to enter the military camp, which is a restricted area? Does that mean that the opera troupe is not considered unauthorized personnel?"
Jiang Hai laughed again, his large hand about to slap Qi Yunxiao on the shoulder: "Brother Qi, you have no idea how boring life is here on this border..."
Qi Yunxiao took two steps back, his smile slowly fading: "I wonder if I could meet the people from that opera troupe?"
Jiang Hai was taken aback, and his attempt to get closer to Jiang Hai slowly disappeared.
He gave a look to the soldier behind him, and the soldier went to the back.
The wailing that followed had stopped when the door was opened, but now the sound of arguing could be heard.
Then came the man's screams and the woman's gasps.
A short while later, a woman with slightly disheveled hair walked over, accompanied by a troupe leader in his fifties.
