Chapter 233 Killing Two Birds with One Stone

The King of Great Xia summoned an elderly eunuch from outside the door: "Come and tell Princess Fangyi what happened during the days of the palace coup."

Princess Fangyi recognized at a glance that the older eunuch was her father's personal eunuch who had been very loyal to him.

After the older eunuch offered his explanation, Princess Fangyi shook her head, her worldview crumbling: "Impossible! You must have been bribed by my imperial brother to help him! You're lying!"

The King of Daxia did not explain, but simply told the older eunuch, "Go and call Shi Jixian in."

Shi Jixian was the commander of the Imperial Guards. Because he had been wounded in the genitals during his early years of fighting on the battlefield, he had no children, wives, or children, and thus became a loyal minister whom the emperor trusted.

After Commander Shi entered, he glanced at Princess Fangyi with surprise, and then bowed to the King of Great Xia.

“Tell Fangyi what happened between the late emperor and the second prince back then.”

Commander Shi was stunned: "Your Majesty?"

"Tell the truth!" the King of Great Xia roared.

Commander Shi had no choice but to obey.

Princess Fangyi then heard a story about a second prince with a dark side who, with the help of a Taoist priest, concocted a so-called golden elixir poison to hollow out his father's body.

In those years, the emperor appeared vigorous and energetic, frequently indulging in favors with his concubines in the harem and working tirelessly through the night on state affairs. Little did he know that his inner self had been hollowed out by the Golden Elixir.

One day, when the body can no longer bear it, it will suddenly die like a landslide.

Shi Jixian had seen His Majesty take the Golden Elixir a few times, and his face immediately turned ashen, looking like he was about to die. Only then did he realize that the Golden Elixir was not a good thing.

The then-eldest prince—now the ruler of the Great Xia Kingdom—had also witnessed His Majesty consuming the elixir of immortality.

However, the dosage of the golden pills increased from one pill per day at the beginning to five or six, then ten or more pills per day later...

Anyone who knows the inside story can see that something is wrong with this medicine.

But at this point, no one dared to say anything.

Princess Fangyi gritted her teeth: "You say your piece, he says his, how am I supposed to know which one of you is telling the truth?"

The King of Great Xia sneered: "People always have their own habits in their actions. If your second brother were truly an upright person, why would he travel thousands of miles to kidnap a Taoist priest from the State of Qi, defy fate for him, and try to become the emperor?"

"Do you know why Qi Yunxiao rescued the Taoist priest? It's because your good second brother also kidnapped Qi Yunxiao's six-year-old child! That child is the Taoist priest's last disciple!"

"If a Taoist priest could defy fate and change destiny simply by performing a ritual, then why would there be so many soldiers shedding blood to protect our country? Wouldn't it be enough to just have a Taoist priest perform a ritual?"

Princess Fangyi was in a daze. She tried to refute the words of the King of Daxia, but when she opened her mouth, she found that she had no way to argue.

She's not stupid; once she pieced things together, she knew who was lying.

But in the past, she stubbornly believed that her eldest brother, who was reserved in expressing his emotions, must have lied and bullied her second brother, who was always good at playing the emotional card...

Overwhelmed by the emotional shock, Princess Fangyi stared blankly.

The King of Daxia was very annoyed by what he saw, so he ordered Shi Jixian to send her back to his princess residence and put her under house arrest, forbidding her from leaving the house.

However, that very night, Princess Fangyi escaped by climbing over the wall.

By the time the King of Great Xia received the news, Princess Fangyi had already left the capital.

The King of Great Xia glanced at Shi Jixian, who had come to report: "Have your men caught up yet?"

Commander Shi replied, "We followed."

"Find the second son, break his arms and legs, bring him back, and raise him for the rest of his life." The King of Great Xia rubbed his temples wearily.

"Yes." Commander Shi quietly left.

Meanwhile, Qi Yunxiao and the Dragon Guard's food supply team were on their way home.

Looking at the towering mountains by the roadside, Chen San reported to Qi Yunxiao, "Shall we stay at the inn tonight?"

"Okay," Qi Yunxiao replied.

By the second trip, I had already gained experience in how far to travel each day and where to stay.

So Chen San sent men ahead to scout ahead, and the grain convoy continued its tumultuous journey.

It will take another hour to reach the post station of Daxia.

When a large number of assassins appeared in a rush, Qi Yunxiao and the Dragon Guards seemed to have expected it and rushed forward to meet them.

Suddenly, the sounds of fighting filled the air.

Qi Yunxiao did not participate; he stood beside Shen Qingyu, coldly watching everything unfold before him.

The two sides were evenly matched, and both suffered casualties, but the Dragon Guards' skills were clearly superior.

Just then, the sound of horses' hooves rang out, and it was Shi Jixian, the commander of the Imperial Guards, leading his troops over: "Surround them! Protect the envoy from Great Qi, and spare no casualties among the assassins!"

With a single command, the situation immediately turned one-sided. Before long, the assassins were all killed, and those who were not killed committed suicide by biting into their poison sacs.

Qi Yunxiao remained silent and made no move throughout the entire process.

Shi Jixian didn't say much. He cupped his hands to Qi Yunxiao and led his men away carrying the corpse.

On a distant mountain ridge, a woman in black, hidden among the trees, watched everything unfolding below with a cold expression.

She obeyed her second brother's order to do this again, and although she still came, her perspective on things was different.

Even though they never gain any advantage, they keep doing it just to get revenge and vent their anger. Isn't that stupid?

The elder brother said, "How can someone with such a dark mind, who is only concerned with his own petty interests, be fit to shoulder the great responsibility of a nation?"

She wanted to argue, but couldn't find the words.

After everyone had left, Princess Fangyi also quietly departed.

Princess Ke Fangyi didn't see that on the other side of the mountain, in a secluded spot, stood a woman dressed in black, watching everything that was happening below with deep eyes, holding a bow in her hand, but not firing a single arrow from beginning to end.
