Chapter 277 The Mother Cat Kidnaps Someone

Qi Yunxiao remained silent.

Yes, in the year since the new emperor ascended the throne, after a brief period of turmoil, the political situation has gradually improved and the people are at peace. Now, everything is thriving.

The old ministers who once secretly spoke out for the late emperor are now gradually winning over the new emperor.

Put yourself in his shoes; the once-powerful crown prince, second only to the emperor, actually only had two paths to choose from.

One option is to rebel at all costs, and then, like Prince Cheng, lead his loyal followers to their deaths.

Alternatively, one can peacefully recite Buddhist scriptures and thus enter a monastic life.

Wen Che was a gentleman and did not want to harm others because of his own selfish desires.

The things the new emperor has done in the past year are enough to prove that he is a powerful and capable emperor.

If others can do it better, why should I insist on taking on the burden?

Therefore, Wenche is willing to accept this outcome...

That's all.

After finishing his tea, Qi Yunxiao got up to leave.

"Woof..." A threatening growl came from a dog's throat. When Qi Yunxiao turned his head, he saw a half-grown wolf staring at him with its eyes wide open.

Wen Che called out, "A Chou!"

The wolf's threatening growls stopped abruptly, and it ran up to Wen Che, sticking out its tongue and wagging its tail, behaving like a dog.

Qi Yunxiao was surprised to see Wen Che pat its head and feed it a piece of rice ball: "This wolf actually eats vegetables?"

Wen Che laughed and said, "If you follow me, you have to eat vegetarian food. If you refuse to eat vegetarian food, I will have no choice but to send it away."

Qi Yunxiao touched his nose: It turns out I didn't think things through at the beginning.

When Qi Yunxiao returned home after leaving the temple, Shen Qingyu was already up and talking to a lean man in a black robe in the yard.

Shen Qingyu sat in the armchair, leaning back lazily.

Cheng Ping sat in the armchair on the other side, looking just as languid.

Qi Yunxiao felt inexplicably uncomfortable and frowned slightly: "Why are you here?"

Cheng Ping pointed towards the study: "I came looking for you, but you weren't here, so I'll have to bother you for a while, sister-in-law. Shall we go inside and talk?"

Qi Yunxiao then led Cheng Ping inside.

A short while later, the two came out, and Qi Yunxiao told Shen Qingyu, "I have to go out for some business, you don't need to wait for me to eat."

Shen Qingyu replied lazily, "Okay."

Her voice unconsciously became soft and gentle, like that of a lazy cat.

Both men couldn't help but glance at her again before walking out together.

The courtyard returned to silence. Just as Shen Qingyu was about to doze off, she suddenly heard a soft meow coming from outside the door.

Shen Qingyu perked up: That's the sound of a kitten?

She got up and went outside to check.

It really was a little kitten, with tiger stripes all over its body, but its four legs were snow-white, and it wobbled as if it couldn't even walk steadily.

Shen Qingyu laboriously squatted down to take a look.

This little kitten had just opened its eyes; it was barely bigger than a mouse, and its meows were absolutely heart-melting.

She looked up and searched around for the mother cat, only to find her watching from the edge of the field in the distance, wary of approaching yet reluctant to leave.

Shen Qingyu thought for a moment, then resisted the urge to take the kitten home and turned to go inside: Once she went inside, the mother cat should be able to come and take the kitten away, right?

Who knew that even after patiently waiting for half an hour, the little kitten was still meowing?

Huh?

Shen Qingyu went out to look, and sure enough, the little kitten was still squatting at the door. When it saw Shen Qingyu come out, it looked at her with its wet eyes and meowed.

The mother cat moved even further away, but still didn't leave.

What's wrong?

You want us to deliver your child to your door?

Shen Qingyu thought for a moment, then carefully reached out and picked up the kitten, walking over there.

The mother cat was strange; whenever Shen Qingyu carried the kitten a little closer, it would run a little further away.

Shen Qingyu was both amused and exasperated, and couldn't help but yell, "Hey! Are you going to take your kid away? Or are you going to kidnap me?"

"You don't want your own child anymore?"

She stretched out her hands and waved the little kitten in her arms to show it to the mother cat.

Before he finished speaking, a group of men dressed in gray outfits suddenly sprang out from the mountains by the field and charged up without saying a word!

There were at least fifty people in the group. One of them chopped Shen Qingyu unconscious with a single chop to the neck, and he and another person picked her up and ran away.

The rest of the people rushed toward the guards in the courtyard.

Their objective was clear: to stop those who came to rescue Shen Qingyu.

Shen Qingyu's last thought before she fell into a coma was: This cat is really trying to kidnap me!

You heartless bastard!

When she woke up, she was in a beautifully decorated room.

The bedding was made of extremely precious kesi (silk tapestry), the bed was made of carved sandalwood, and there were fist-sized luminous pearls and evenly round pearl curtains the size of fingertips...

Even though Shen Qingyu had seen a lot of money before, she was stunned by this extravagance.

Why would someone go to such lengths to arrange themselves in such an exquisite room?

She tried calling out, "Is anyone there?"

Hearing the sound, a maid came in from outside, carrying some food: "Madam is awake? Have something to eat."

Shen Qingyu peeked out and exclaimed, "Wow! Shark fin soup!"

How extravagant!

Shen Qingyu didn't stand on ceremony. After smelling it and confirming that there was no problem, she readily started eating.

Soon, the bowl of shark fin rice was finished.

After eating some more vegetables and steamed eggs with dried shrimp, Shen Qingyu put down her chopsticks with satisfaction and looked at the girl: "Did your master say when he's coming?"
