Chapter 81 The Child Is Lost

Qi Yunxiao felt his chest quickly become wet; it was the tears of the woman in his arms.

She cried!

Never before had Qi Yunxiao despised himself as much as he did now.

If he knew that the scheme to marry her had nothing to do with Shen Qingyu, he would immediately take on the responsibility of being a father and help her out, even if it was just by giving her some money...

She hasn't had such a difficult time all these years.

If there is enough money and the baby is well cared for, and the birth time is staggered, perhaps the second baby will not suffer from any of the five deficiencies or three lacks.

His mouth reacted before his brain could process it; Qi Yunxiao kept repeating, "It's my fault. It's my fault..."

These words struck a nerve with Shen Qingyu, touching a raw nerve—the grievances the original owner had harbored in the past.

Shen Qingyu's tears flowed even more freely.

Qi Yunxiao's body stiffened: he was afraid that if he moved, Shen Qingyu would wake up and push him away.

But the woman in his arms, trembling slightly from crying, caused him unbearable heartache.

Finally, Qi Yunxiao could only tentatively hug Shen Qingyu: "I'm here, I'll always be here..."

"Hehehe..." The children who came out of town laughed shyly when they saw this scene.

"What are you looking at?!" the mother immediately scolded, covering the child's eyes and pulling him away.

Shen Qingyu also regained consciousness and lifted her head from Qi Yunxiao's embrace.

Qi Yunxiao sighed inwardly, "What a pity," and was forced to let go.

The woman's eyes, as if washed with water, were red and watery.

Qi Yunxiao was stunned for a moment, then heard Shen Qingyu's voice had calmed down and, slightly hoarse, call out to Qi Yunxiao: "Let's go buy horses first."

Cheng Ping rode away on the black horse.

The skinny donkey was ridden away by the mad Taoist and Erbao.

The carriage had just been unloaded by the roadside.

Qi Yunxiao nodded: "Don't worry, I've already sent someone to deliver the horses."

Shen Qingyu was taken aback.

"So we can just wait here?"

"right."

Shen Qingyu looked around and sat down on a stone by the roadside: "Alright, I'll wait here."

A carriage drove up and stopped in front of Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao.

Qi Han poked his head out: "Is that Qingyu's niece? What are you doing here...?"

Seeing that he was looking at the unloaded carriage, Shen Qingyu had no choice but to explain.

Shen Qingyu habitually smiled as she spoke.

Shen Qingyu's smile faded simply because she was in a bad mood.

Qi Yunxiao, watching from the side, suddenly realized that Shen Qingyu was smiling at everyone she met outside!

Even though she was feeling very sad at that moment, she still wore a faint smile.

It's like... I've gotten used to laughing.

Qi Han had just returned from the prefectural city. Because he was not in town yesterday, he did not receive the news of Erbao becoming an apprentice, nor did he get to attend the apprenticeship banquet.

It takes a lot of determination to let your six-year-old daughter follow a Taoist priest.

No wonder Shen Qingyu's eyes were red.

Qi Han was filled with both admiration and respect.

Knowing that Shen Qingyu was in a bad mood, Qi Han said a few words to her about the bean sprout and braised meat business before taking his leave.

Before long, a man of unremarkable appearance delivered two chestnut horses.

Although it doesn't look as magnificent as that black horse, it's still quite good.

Qi Yunxiao offered to explain, "You keep one horse at home to pull the carriage, and I'll ride the other one when I go out."

"good."

The two hitched up the carriage and began their journey home.

By the time we arrived at Shenjia Village, it was almost dark!

Shen Qingyu sighed wearily.

I did a lot of things that day, and I even went to the town twice.

With their home just ahead, Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao sensed something was wrong.

There were a lot of people gathered in front of my house, talking about something I don't know.

Amidst the commotion, one could hear Xiao Taohua's mournful cries and the village head's loud reprimands.

Something terrible has happened at home!

Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao were terrified and quickly drove home.

Upon hearing the sounds of horses' hooves and carriages, everyone dispersed.

Someone shouted, "Qingyu and Brother Tietou are back!"

The crowd fell silent immediately.

Shen Qingyu's heart was pounding: "What happened?"

The crowd automatically parted to make way for the inner front of the center.

The village headman greeted her anxiously: "Qingyu, this afternoon Shitou and Mutou took your Wenjin to the mountains."

“We sent people to look for them, but before we even found them, your little Bao went into the mountains again, saying he was going to look for Wenjin and Shitoumu.”

Shen Qingyu's legs went weak and she couldn't stand up.

Qi Yunxiao reacted quickly, catching Shen Qingyu in his arms. He glanced around and raised his voice so that everyone present could hear him.

"Thank you so much, uncles and brothers! The children have gone into the mountains, and it's getting dark. We must find them. Please bear with us..."

As he spoke, Qi Yunxiao had Liu Cuixi, who had rushed over, help Shen Qingyu up, and then he gave a long bow.

Upon hearing this, everyone responded with a resounding "Don't worry, Tie Tou, we will definitely find all the children."

Xiao Taohua was crying her heart out, but Qi Yunxiao remained calm and composed. Shen Qingyu, though her legs were weak, did not cry. She unconsciously stopped crying and just stared longingly at Shen Qingyu and Qi Yunxiao.

It was as if with the two of them around, one had a pillar of support.

The children have been in the mountains for a while now, and everyone's preparations are almost complete. The torches have been set up, and the village head has made arrangements for everyone.

"Let's go!" The village head waved his hand, and the group dispersed and headed in different directions up the mountain.

Shen Qingyu regained her senses and looked at Qi Yunxiao: "Do you have a solution?"

Qi Yunxiao nodded: "You wait."
