Chapter Eighty-Nine: Entering the Capital

Bored while sitting idly, Qi Yunxiao summoned the Privy Councilor: "Could you please send a message home for me? We're not going back this month."

"Alright." The Privy Councilor nodded and left.

Sure enough, he looked completely understanding.

However, this means that the bean sprout and braised meat businesses will have to stop.

Qi Yunxiao then summoned the Privy Councilor: "Could you please tell the village head that the house should continue to be repaired? Here is the money... could you please give it to the village head and tell him it's for the work?"

The Privy Councilor looked at the money pouch handed to him with a strange expression: "Young Master, are you treating me like a errand boy?"

Qi Yunxiao spread his hands: "Then what else can I do? I'll go myself?"

That's obviously not an option.

The Privy Councilor took the money bag: "Alright! I'll have someone deliver it."

"Oh, by the way, could you also make a trip to the prefectural city for me and tell the shopkeeper that my wife is busy lately, and we've run out of bean sprouts and braised meat..."

"Also, please tell the head of the Qi family in this town, Qi Han, that my wife is busy lately and that we've run out of bean sprouts and braised meat."

The Privy Councilor's chest heaved as he stared intently at Qi Yunxiao!

Qi Yunxiao shrugged: "Then how about I go?"

The Privy Councilor was so angry that his bushy beard trembled!

"I'll send someone! I'll send someone right now! Who else do I need to talk to? Hmm?"

Qi Yunxiao chuckled: "No need, my wife only has these two businesses right now..."

Before he could explode with anger, the Privy Councilor left the room.

Cheng Ping silently gave Qi Yunxiao a thumbs up!

You're awesome!

Only the Emperor himself and Qi Yunxiao would dare to order a high-ranking Privy Councilor to run errands.

The Privy Council's Grand Councilor and the head of the Surveillance Guard were both people the new emperor trusted most.

Many of the officials' matters concerning the underworld were handled by the Privy Council.

Running errands and investigating cases in various places, they were all Cheng Ping's supervisors.

One inside and one outside, complementing each other.

After arranging his affairs, Qi Yunxiao looked at Cheng Ping and wrote, "Why was His Majesty so angry about your marriage?"

Cheng Ping lowered his eyes, pretending not to see the line of words, and a cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

Seeing that Cheng Ping ignored him, Qi Yunxiao guessed: His Majesty is probably worried and wants to keep his wife in the capital.

But what does arresting his wife have to do with his own wife and children?

This is not right.

Could it be...?

Qi Yunxiao's heart skipped a beat, and he became worried.

The carriage passed through the prefectural city safely without stopping, and continued on its way to the capital.

Shen Qingyu stared at the map.

The carriage passed by Guiyun Tower, and they could even hear the innkeeper greeting regular customers, as well as Qian Wanliang's chuckle as he passed by...

Unfortunately, they were all unaware of this.

As dusk approached, the carriage finally stopped in a grove of trees. Several unassuming men emerged from the surrounding area, gestured a few times without saying a word, and then began to eat their dry rations.

At this moment, Ms. Zhao Yuzhu, Da Bao, Xiao Bao, and Yu Qiao finally slowly woke up.

"Where is this?" Yu Qiao was still confused.

"Have they been kidnapped?" This was the astute Ms. Zhao Yuzhu's thought.

"Mom, I feel dizzy..." Da Bao saw Shen Qingyu as soon as he saw her and crawled towards her in a daze.

Zhao Yuzhu quickly hugged the other dazed baby.

Shen Qingyu felt a pang of heartache, but in front of everyone, she couldn't openly take food and spiritual spring water from her spatial storage to give them away. So, she could only weakly call out, "Someone come here..."

The wiry woman from before came over, saw the few people inside groaning and dazed, and handed them two pieces of bread: "Here, eat this."

Shen Qingyu looked at the dried-out stuff and asked, "Is there any water?"

The woman then handed over a water pouch: "This."

Shen Qingyu took the water pouch, replaced the water inside with spiritual spring water, and handed it to them to drink in turn.

After drinking the spiritual spring water, the group felt more energetic, and even their dizziness subsided.

"Mom, I don't want to eat this pancake, I want to drink porridge." Da Bao was feeling unwell and only wanted to eat soft, mushy food.

Shen Qingyu called the woman over again: "Is there any porridge?"

The woman said impatiently, "We're in the middle of nowhere, let's just eat whatever we can find."

Shen Qingyu looked at the woman and said firmly, "I don't know who you are, nor do I know where you are taking us. Did your master order you to mistreat us all the way?"

The woman was taken aback, clearly not expecting Shen Qingyu to still be so resolute at this point.

The master certainly didn't say they should be mistreated; in fact, he said they should be treated politely...

"You wait here, I'll go see if there's anything I can use to make porridge..."

After a while, the woman brought over a clay pot containing soft, overcooked flatbread, and even some shredded braised meat mixed in...

This is really... Shen Qingyu was speechless for a moment.

After the children finished slurping down the porridge, the three adults each ate a piece of cake and drank a few sips of the spiritual spring water from the porridge in the earthenware pot, and then they felt a little better.

The woman came over to collect the pottery jars and instructed, "The noble people in the capital want to see you. As long as you behave yourselves and don't make a fuss, you'll have a good time in the future."

A nobleman from the capital?

Shen Qingyu became increasingly certain that it must be someone from the Qingping Marquis's residence.

She looked at Yuqiao with remorse: "I'm sorry, we've dragged you into this."

Yu Qiao waved her hand dismissively: "It's nothing, it's a good opportunity to go out and broaden my horizons."

Unfortunately, her tense jaw betrayed her nervousness.

That night, the group slept in the carriage.

Fortunately, although the carriage looked unremarkable on the outside, it was quite spacious inside, with room for three adults and two children to lie down.
