Shen Qingyu looked at the chubby student, who was the first to buy food and had finished it in no time.
"Ha! Young Master Zhao Xiang, why don't you come and have some donkey rolls? I'll give you two extra today!" The donkey roll lady called out loudly from the other side; she knew who this student was.
All eyes turned to the chubby Zhao Xiang.
This guy is a real daredevil.
If he starts causing trouble, that'll be quite a sight!
"You can't just give him meat broth and pickled cabbage, but not me!" Zhao Xiang said, looking displeased.
Shen Qingyu was not affected by their emotions at all, and asked with a smile, "Then how about you order another one with less rice and more meat soup and pickled cabbage?"
Zhao Xiang shook his head: "No! I want lots and lots of sticky rice, lots and lots of meat broth and pickled vegetables."
Shen Qingyu nodded: "That's no problem..."
The students and the stall owners all understood.
He chickened out as expected!
Turns out, he's another bully who preys on the weak.
Unexpectedly, Shen Qingyu added, "You can add two more coins, and I'll give you more pickled cabbage and meat soup."
The students and vendors were dumbfounded: Could this really be done?
Upon hearing this, Zhao Xiang's eyes lit up: "Okay!"
Shen Qingyu pointed to the line of students and continued to smile, "Then you can line up at the back. When it's your turn, I'll make it for you."
The stall owners were dumbfounded: They actually asked Young Master Zhao Xiang to queue up again?
This glutinous rice lady is incredibly audacious!
Zhao Xiang nodded and actually went to join the queue at the back.
Everyone: "..."
When it was the turn of a tall, thin student whose clothes were faded from washing, he asked somewhat nervously, "Could you have less glutinous rice and less pickled cabbage and minced meat?"
Shen Qingyu sized up his clothes: This guy must come from a poor family, but he wants to try something new.
With her smile unchanged, she said, "If you don't want minced meat, it'll be one coin less; if you don't want pickled vegetables, it'll be one coin less; if you want less sticky rice, it'll be one coin less; if you want all the toppings, but give me a little less of each, it'll be two coins less."
Differentiated sales based on the different needs of different customers are perfectly reasonable.
A flicker of surprise crossed the tall, thin student's eyes: "Then I'll give you less of everything..."
Shen Qingyu nodded with a smile: "Okay."
The next student disagreed: "The pickled cabbage and meat are not the same price. Why is it that less minced meat costs one coin less, but less pickled cabbage also costs one coin less? That's not right!"
Shen Qingyu continued with a smile: "It's my business, and I call the shots. If you think this isn't worth it, you can add one coin for minced meat, or skip the pickled cabbage and pay one coin less."
These words were soft yet firm, spoken in a kind tone and with a gentle expression, making them clear and understandable, preventing one from getting angry, and also making one dare not underestimate them.
The students found it novel and began to personalize their orders.
"I'll add a penny for the minced meat."
"I don't want pickled cabbage."
"My sticky rice that cost one penny less..."
"Done." Shen Qingyu remained calm and methodical.
The owner of the rice noodle stall nodded in approval: This woman is a shrewd businesswoman.
During a break between classes, Shen Qingyu actually sold about thirty servings of glutinous rice.
In the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, he earned three hundred coins!
As the school bell rang, the students scattered, and the small square became much quieter again.
Several small vendors were very curious about Shen Qingyu; some were envious, and some were jealous.
Shen Qingyu, just like before, smiled and responded to everyone's gazes, chatting and laughing with them.
This time, however, no one thought Shen Qingyu was easy to bully.
When a woman walked over from the other end of the alley, Shen Qingyu assumed she was there to buy food.
To everyone's surprise, she walked straight to her donkey cart and asked, "Qingyu, what happened to you?"
Huh?
Know yourself?
Shen Qingyu stared intently, and fragments of memories surfaced in her mind. She was stunned: This was actually her aunt!
After Shen Qingyao married Qi Zhouhua in her place, not long after, her aunt's family also went to work at Qi Zhouhua's house and moved to the town.
It's been quite a few years since I've seen them.
"Aunt? It's been a long time! Did you come all this way just to see me?" Shen Qingyu greeted her with a smile.
The eldest aunt looked at Shen Qingyu, who had a plump figure and fair skin, and a complicated expression flashed in her eyes.
"I heard your husband came back from outside and built a big brick house and bought a donkey cart. He must have made a lot of money. Why are you still showing your face in public?"
His tone was aggressive and accusatory.
Shen Qingyu's smile froze.
Who do you think you are?
"Auntie hasn't been back to the village for a long time. Who told you that? Did my sister and brother-in-law tell you?" Shen Qingyu smiled faintly, with a hint of sarcasm.
The eldest aunt said domineeringly, "Your sister is only doing this for your own good. Your husband has finally come back, and instead of staying home to keep him happy, you're out there showing your face in public. What kind of behavior is that? Be careful he doesn't run away again!"
Shen Qingyu smiled: "Don't panic, Aunt. I'm slowly losing weight now, and there aren't as many pustules on my face. My husband thinks I'm getting prettier and prettier, so he won't want to leave me."
The eldest aunt's expression changed, and she spat, "How could you say such a thing? You're a woman! Don't you have any shame?"
have to.
I can't take it anymore.
Shen Qingyu chuckled: "Aunt, I know you and my sister are close, and you work in her household. Haven't you heard the villagers say that there's something wrong with the medicine she gave me? Seven years ago, I took the medicine she gave me, and that's why I became so fat and ugly."
The eldest aunt's face changed drastically, and she exclaimed, "No...no way! Don't talk nonsense!"
