Chapter 362: A Year of Abundant Harvest (2)
A deep green light descended from the sky, as if a divine judgment had been bestowed upon the clouds. The radiance was identical to the green light that had flickered in the Great Library; it was undoubtedly the power of the thorny scarf.
"Don't worry, everyone. According to the current laws of the Fourth Order, Lord Shenshu's sanctions are only used for restraint... but if you insist on resisting, you will probably get hurt!" said Feifeid.
When the light fell, Chu Hengkong had already drawn his Divine Slash. With a flash of blood-red light, the blade shattered the light column into flying fragments. He drew his blade back with one hand, his wrist trembling slightly.
"Don't take any of the Level 5 output head-on. I'll handle it."
Ji Huaisu was quick-witted and swift-handed, and she rushed forward to snatch the whistle. However, a transparent green wall of light flashed out, firmly blocking her attack. It was the same divine power that had been displayed on Perriman.
"So resolute?" Fifi pulled a mechanism in its fur, and a large lotus leaf sprang out from behind, carrying its massive body into the sky. It blew its whistle vigorously and continued shouting, "Opposing bills, attacking legislators, disrupting production, and other crimes. I beg Lord Divine Tree to see for yourself!"
Three more beams of divine power descended, and Chu Hengkong danced his divine slash with impeccable precision, slicing them apart one by one. Feifeide's cry echoed at this moment, and in an instant, countless figures emerged from the golden fields, all working beings, large and small, glaring angrily at the scene.
"How dare you mess with your farmer grandfather!"
"Fuck, this isn't just some ordinary troublemaker anymore, I have to deal a heavy blow!"
“Brothers and sisters, let us unite!”
Whistles echoed one after another, and the fields were filled with murderous intent. Vander suddenly felt a chill above his head. He looked up and saw many bird citizens flying into the sky, scattering dense golden raindrops.
They were plump kernels of corn, rapidly expanding in mid-air and landing with a resounding thud. They exploded! They turned into popcorn! The shockwave was as powerful as a storm!
"Retreat quickly, it's a popcorn bomb!" Gulbo screamed, "It's a level 4 War Plant!"
Ji Huaisu quickly raised the ice wall for protection. A high-jumping popcorn popped into her mouth, startling her: "Fuck, it's sweet."
"Don't try to savor it now, everyone, retreat first! Damn, I see that divine punishment is getting more and more intense!"
In the blink of an eye, the next round of green beams descended, this time with a total of seven. Velvet tapped the ground with her cane, and a light blue stream of information flashed from bottom to top. A stretch limousine appeared out of nowhere, enveloping everyone and thoughtfully leaving Chu Hengkong on the top floor.
Velvet put the car in gear and started, then stepped on the accelerator and rushed out. Chu Hengkong on the roof shouted, "Hey, driving is my job!"
“I already got my driver’s license,” Velvet said.
The shepherds had piled hay and fences to form a roadblock. Velvet, not even a glance, sped past them, sending the unfortunate ones rolling and screaming on the ground, tangled in the hay. Within two seconds, several off-road-like vehicles followed, their designs rather barbaric but their speed terrifying.
Their bodies were covered in wooden spikes, their windows painted with images of terrifying beasts, and their wheels resembled hamster cages. Small citizens like rats, otters, and Grubbs ran around inside the cages, providing the vehicles with surging power. The large trumpets on the roofs opened and closed, broadcasting wild slogans as they pursued:
“Opposing the bill is opposing the sacred tree!”
The surrounding farmers raised their arms and shouted:
"To oppose independence is to oppose peace!"
Velvet swerved, swerving, and dodging a swarm of cabbage bombs. Vander screamed, "Bobo, your hometown is crazy!"
"It wasn't like this before." Gulibo was at a loss. "How could they install a horn on the rat cage tank? It's everyone's toy!"
Chu Hengkong couldn't resist: "You call that a toy? A toy that can catch up with an F1 car?"
"I know full well I shouldn't be reasoning in this damn place!" Ji Huaisu screamed. "Virbet, where are you driving? Where are we going?"
"Meet the allies."
Velvet flipped a switch next to the air conditioner, and the stretch sedan instantly glowed with light, blending into its surroundings like a chameleon. She simultaneously created another sedan, which continued along the same route. The Rat Cage Tank fleet roared past, trailed by a herd of small, howling animals carrying pitchforks and shovels.
Velvet waited for the pursuers to fade away, then turned the cloaked car around and drove away. Her invisibility seemed to conceal even the sacred tree's beam of light. The car slid through a patch of tall grass, transforming from a sedan into an SUV. A short farmer, guarding the edge of the grass, skipped and waved at them, "This way, Bo! This way, Bo!"
This person was also a Gubo tribe member, and he had a small wizard hat on his head. Chu Hengkong easily pulled it into the car, and Gulibo said in surprise: "My cousin Magic Bo, long time no see, Bo!"
Molibo was shocked when he heard this: "Gulibo? You're still alive!"
Gulibo was deeply moved: "Cousin, are you saving my Bo out of brotherly love?"
"Oh, no, it's because VV contacted us," Magic Bo said, "Please follow me quickly, time is running out, the faster we move the better."
The car drove through layers of tall grass and into the farm. Magic Bo hurriedly led them into a warehouse. It jumped up and flicked a switch with its little paw. The floor opened to reveal a secret passage leading underground.
"Everyone, get down quickly. There's no time for explanations." Magic Bo said nervously, "The fake sacred tree's attacks are getting stronger. Many of our comrades have been captured. The remaining fighting forces are all underground. Please remember, don't think about anything related to the 'opposition bill' on the surface."
"——Brother Magicbo! The flowers are blooming!"
At this moment, a scream was heard outside the warehouse. Moli Bo gasped and rushed out of the warehouse. "I'll go buy some time. Everyone, go down and destroy the secret passage! Bo! Don't force it. There's no hope against the fake sacred tree! Bo!"
Fander's sharp eyes saw the window suddenly covered with flower-shaped shadows, as if a large field of flowers had suddenly grown on the surface of the warehouse. Chu Hengkong, skilled and bold, was the first to poke his head out to take a look. The previously empty flat ground was now occupied by wild flowers. The flowers bloomed out of thin air, and the inorganic voice in their hearts uttered:
"Anti-Bill Thoughts Detected. Anti-Bill Thoughts Detected. Requesting the Shrine Guard to take action."
"Team Four has received this. We are now detaining you on charges of anti-social and anti-peace activities. Please enter the prison van in an orderly manner. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send them to the Team Four Citizen Mailbox. Your comments will be responded to within three working days of receipt."
There was a rumbling sound in the air, and a "four-feathered" flying machine resembling a bee came flying, shooting wooden claws towards the farm. The claws accurately grabbed Magic Bo and threw him into a hamster cage.
Magic Bo hurriedly ran, and a gentle reminder sounded:
"Your punishment is: compulsory labor. The penalty period is: thirty-three working days."
Gulibo raised his paw in sorrow: "No! Cousin Bo!"
"Don't worry about me, Huchi. You, Huchi, hurry up, Bo!" Magic Bo ran out of breath. "Say hello to Grandpa Grandpa for me, Bo!"
Chu Hengkong swiftly cut through the incoming divine power beam and, clutching Gulibo, leaped into the ground. After confirming everyone had left, he struck again, and the collapsed rubble buried the secret passage forever.
"I'm still a little overwhelmed." said Ji Huaisu.
Vander's eyes widened: "That's crazy."
The underground space was pitch black, devoid of even a single light source. Ji Huaisu was about to turn on the light when he saw a small flame in the darkness. The torch was held by a large, furry snowman, who smiled innocently and motioned for them to follow.
Chu Hengkong felt familiar and after a moment of recollection, he remembered: "You are an employee of Feiyan Amusement Park."
"Work, work!" said the snowman happily.
With its neck hunched and its head lowered, it led the group through winding paths until they reached a vast, square-like area. People filled the area. Small animals dressed as farmers chattered anxiously, the few remaining tree people scurried about clutching ledgers, and a number of burly amusement park employees toiled about carrying things. Chu Hengkong even spotted a number of demons, busily busy beneath their suits, as if they were witnessing a grand reunion of all races in the Shendong Realm.
"Thank goodness you're here at last!" said the man in gray.
Mr. Lan looked around and asked, "Who is VV?"
The two veteran employees of the amusement park were also underground, and upon noticing them, they came over to greet them. Velvet handed over a business card with a caduceus painted on it. Mr. Gray examined it for a long time, his glasses raised, and then handed it back with satisfaction.
"Test passed. Thank you, Miss VV." It glanced at Chu Hengkong. "I have to say you guys did a really good job of keeping secrets. You had so much fun at the amusement park without revealing a single flaw. Mr. Gray, I was an intelligence professional back then, and I actually didn't realize you were reinforcements sent by VV."
Chu Hengkong thought for a moment and said, "In fact, we only found out about this a few days ago."
"So you two have only known each other for a short time."
"We've known each other for over ten years."
"My friend, I really don't understand what you are saying," said Mr. Lan.
Ji Huaisu patted Velvet: "Would you mind explaining?"
"Before heading to Thorns City-State, I had already reached a certain level of cooperation with the local conservative faction and jointly funded Tian Ye's anti-bill organization," Velvet replied. "I didn't choose Mr. Jas Trek as a partner because he is an important figure in the military, which makes his every move closely watched by the separatists."
"—So she chose me, a neutral person who prioritizes profit over everything else, a young captain obsessed with demons and uninterested in politics~~"
The shadow of the fifth captain, Hariroa, popped up from Mr. Gray’s bow tie. She looked Velvet up and down and said with a smile, “We finally meet, the famous Snake of the Underworld! I didn’t expect you to look so cute!”
"Right." Chu Hengkong said happily.
Velvet glanced at him and said, "Please stop talking about irrelevant topics."
Mr. Gray and Mr. Blue were whispering to each other, "Sacrificing the living and then talking about the law of the underworld sounds really childish..."
"Don't be like that. You know, this is the favorite of students from high school to college. Like Black Flame, Black Swordsman, Red Comet..."
Chu Hengkong couldn't help but interrupt: "When the Red Comet came out, there was no such term as 'Chuunibyou' yet."
Velvet tapped him firmly with her cane, "Sora, let's talk about animation after work."
"Okay, okay~" Chu Hengkong stretched, "So this is Tian Ye's 'resistance organization'? Hallelujah, are you the leader of this organization?"
"I still have to deal with my own pulse sequence work, so another more suitable senior will take on this role~" Hariloa's projection waved, "Everyone, please look!"
The center of the square was enveloped in a faint purple light, and within it lay a small tree. From its top grew long branches and vines, and the light flowed throughout the underground building, supplying energy to numerous devices like electrical wires.
A vine stretched out in front of the crowd and conveyed a familiar voice: "Children, we meet again."
"Oh, it's Master Shenshu, Bo!" Gulibo jumped up happily, "Master Shenshu, you've been transformed again, Bo!"
That familiar spiritual energy allowed everyone to instantly recognize this tree as the bud they had brought to the city-state. Now, it had grown from a "bud" into a "tree," becoming the Sephiroth Tree, the third point in the path of the Senluo Divine Tree.
"The city-state's soil is rich in nutrients, and the fields are home to many friendly gardeners. It's the perfect environment for me," the thorn tree said to them. "You must be facing many problems. Let me explain the current situation to you."
"Before that, I have a small question. What should we call you now that you have been promoted again?" said Vander.
The thorn tree was silent for a few seconds: "Why not just call it stone seed... we're already familiar with it anyway..."
