Chapter 71 The Stinky Outsiders Come to Our Kingdom of God to Beg for Food
The green-haired girl glanced at each of the people with different expressions and giggled. She stood up, turned around and shouted in an exaggerated manner, "A stranger is coming~"
"Outsiders?" "How can there be outsiders these days?" "Where are you two from Dust Island?" "Also, what's the situation on the front lines?"
A flurry of chatter erupted, and a dozen or so people appeared, as fast as if they had emerged from the ground. Most of them wore yellow robes, their hair tied up with cloth strips. Their speech and mannerisms were remarkably classical, reminiscent of passersby in ancient fantasy dramas. Only a few of them asked questions, while the majority simply stood at a distance, observing the two with indifferent eyes.
Chu Hengkong was not good at negotiation and knew nothing about this place, so he simply left Fan De in front.
Fander didn't refuse and wiped his mouth... The mysterious rainbow-colored slime around his eyes, waving his tentacles, said: "In reply to your questions, my name is Fander, and this warrior is called Chu Hengkong. We were both wandering outside for some reason and met by chance. We originally wanted to find a way back home together, but unexpectedly, we were chased by strange beasts as soon as we went up the mountain. After a fierce battle, we ended up here. There are many strange things in this place, and we two don't know what they are. I hope the elders and villagers can enlighten me. I am here, thank you all in advance."
The yellow-clothed men stared at Fander, their expressions as if they had seen a ghost. The green-haired girl blinked and said, "Did you jump out of some historical fog? Your language is so unfashionable."
Fander was furious: "Hey! You villagers are obviously the most unsophisticated ones!"
"My 98-year-old grandfather doesn't speak like that..." a big villager whispered.
The young man, dressed like a scholar, said, "This fellow is hideously ugly and speaks out of touch with the times. I'm afraid he's not a good man. In my opinion, everyone should keep their distance and be on guard."
"Xiang Fuzi is right." "The scholar is right." "It doesn't even have a face. I don't know what kind of monster it is..." The villagers echoed.
"What right does someone who's three times as retro as me have to call me unfashionable?!"
Fander was so angry that he jumped up with one tentacle, but was pulled back by Chu Hengkong. He stomped his tentacles and howled, and the green-haired girl shook her head when she saw it.
"How rude! People from Xiaochen Island are always like this." She waved her hand, "Everyone, disperse! We are guests from afar. I'll take these two to stay first."
The yellow-clothed men dispersed upon hearing this. They were clearly a group of strong young men, but they obeyed the little girl's orders very well. The green-haired girl didn't even ask for their opinions and turned away on her own. Chu Hengkong quickly packed up his things, stuffed Fander back into his pocket, and followed silently.
People who can communicate are always better than strange beasts. Exchange some information to decide the next course of action.

As they traveled, everyone gained some information about the local area.
The mountain they had ventured to was called Yingluo Mountain, so called because of the large jade-like rocks that often tumbled down from it. A ten-minute walk from the cliff face brought them to the town where the Yellow-Cloaked People lived. The town was often pelted with large rocks by the Jade Fox, and its abundance of jade led to its name, Yingshi Town.
"That's so casual! A name that sounds pretty good now looks so pathetic after you say that!!"
"You interrupt others when they're still talking, you rude little squid."
This small town was built against a mountain, not very large, accommodating about a hundred people. Most of the houses in the town were made of brick and stone, with no trace of technology. It was so retro that it reminded Chu Hengkong of "Peach Blossom Spring".
The little girl commanding the townspeople was named Qi Su. She looked young, barely reaching Chu Hengkong's waist. Besides her, the scholar had also followed them, introducing himself as Xiang Fuzi. The three of them sat down in a quiet room. On the way, Chu Hengkong provided some additional information, briefly recounting what he and Fander had seen on the mountain.
After listening to this, Qi Su nodded repeatedly, as if he understood something.
"Squid hits squid, squid grabs squid's hand, it's really deep."
"Did you listen to what people were saying..." Chu Hengkong held his forehead with his hand.
"I know, I know. Anyway, we're just two unlucky guys who accidentally ended up stranded in a foreign land." Qi Su looked like he deserved a beating. "Where are you from?"
"My hometown is the Twilight Library, a sanctuary in the world of Shendong, which seals forbidden secrets, governs ancient knowledge, and records everything in the world!" Finder answered first.
"What a small place, I've never heard of it." Qi Su waved his hand, "What about you?"
Fander was jumping around on the table, flailing his arms and legs, as if he was deeply offended. Chu Hengkong simply pressed it flat on the table: "Huilong City."
"Huilong City...Huilong..." Qi Su muttered for a while, then suddenly became serious: "But this is Master Huilong Youyou's city? The city lord is the unparalleled general of Chenjun Palace?"
Chu Hengkong remained calm and said, "I don't know the city lord's name, I only know his name is Ji Qiufeng."
Xiang Fuzi also became concerned: "Since you are from Huilong City, do you have any Liuzhu on you?"
Chu Hengkong took out a small bead and placed it on the table. Qi Su and Xiang Fuzi looked at it carefully and nodded.
"This item is precious, my dear brother, please keep it safe and don't lose it," Xiang Fuzi warned sternly. He turned to Qi Su and said, "We are both descendants of the Dragon God and visitors from a friendly country..."
"There's no point standing by and watching. You two will rest in the town today. Remember not to go out and seek death." Qi Su stood up and was about to leave when he turned back and said, "Xiang Fuzi, tell them the rules of the town. That big squid! Give me a flowing pearl as your... that... travel expenses!"
Chu Hengkong threw the pearl out. Qi Su didn't catch it, but simply shook her sleeve and put it in. She left in a hurry, no longer showing the teasing look she had at the beginning. Xiang Fuzi smiled on her behalf and said, "Qi Su, I'm a little impatient, please don't be offended."
"It's okay. I often deal with impatient people." Chu Hengkong didn't care. "I also want to ask, where are the restaurants in town?"
Xiang Fuzi stared at him as if he was looking at an illiterate person.
"Brother, where did you come from in some remote island? Why did you come to our kingdom of God to beg for food?"
Even Chu Hengkong couldn't help but look dark. He loosened his right hand. Fander knocked the table with his tentacles: "What do you mean, poor scholar? You look down on outsiders, don't you? I have a hot temper and I can't stand your arrogance!"
Xiang Fuzi quickly took two steps back to avoid being swept by Finder's tentacles. "You two have truly misunderstood. We, the inhabitants of the Netherworld Divine Kingdom, have always avoided flesh and blood, and we never eat plants. We only enjoy the essence of the sun and the fragrance of the forest. Therefore, the food you two need is completely unavailable in this town."
Chu Hengkong really couldn't hold back this time: "Are all the people in the Netherworld Divine Kingdom plants?"
"How can humans and plants be confused?" Xiang Fuzi sighed, "Brother, you don't even know this kind of common sense... It seems that Dragon City is not as good as the Kingdom of God after all. Science education still needs to be improved..."
The scholar's sense of superiority between the lines of the book struck Chu Hengkong as familiar. For a moment, he almost thought he was back in a big city in his hometown. He quickly ended the topic: "Where can I find food?"
"There's a church built by outsiders in the north of town. You could go check it out," Xiangfuzi said with a smile. "Before I leave, I have one more question I'd like you to answer. I said I killed that giant centipede... is that true?"
Fander was furious at the group's arrogant attitude and shouted, "What? Are these outsiders trying to blackmail you? Your Godly Lord is so powerful! Just look at it yourself. He burned the entire centipede and you can see it for a hundred miles."
Xiang Fuzi fell silent this time, his eyes flickering.
"If that's the case, then you've done a great deed." He pointed outside. "Excuse me, both of you. According to the rules of this town, outsiders are not allowed to stay with the townspeople. Please stay in the church tonight."
Chu Hengkong sighed deeply, thanked him, and grabbed Fander before heading out. Xiang Fuzi sat for a moment, peeking out frequently to confirm they were far away before suddenly standing up. He waved his fists vigorously, his face flushed with excitement.
"Great... that poisonous insect is finally...good!!"
Xiang Fuzi soon became worried again. He paced anxiously on the spot, then strode out the door without any trace of the reserved demeanor of a scholar.
He was walking so fast that he didn't notice a small figure crouching on a stone roof not far away. Chu Hengkong took in the entire process, and Fander also watched with great interest, occasionally waving a few short tentacles.
"It seems that the fists of the Lord of God are not as strong as their mouths." said Vander.
"If there's no secret, you wouldn't live here." Chu Hengkong thought for a moment, but didn't go into it any further. "Let's go and see the church."
The church, located in the north of the town, was a distinctly foreign structure. With its tall, slender Gothic spire and long windows framed by black and white glass, it resembled a gloomy, incongruous castle. Upon entering, one could see a blurry statue. A man dressed as a priest stood before it, smiling at the two. He had a calm, solemn demeanor, his square face akin to one born for the priesthood.
"You must be strangers who have strayed into this town by mistake." The man's bass voice sounded reassuring. "I'm Bernfa, the monk who guards the chapel. Qi Su has already informed me that you two can use the rooms and items in the chapel as needed."
Chu Hengkong greeted him and went straight to the point: "Excuse me, is there anything to eat?"
Bernfa looked embarrassed and couldn't help but smile bitterly.
"The people of the Kingdom of God do not need food, and I have no such need either. If you two are in urgent need of filling your stomachs..."
He took out a fishing rod from his back and said seriously, "You might as well go hunting or fishing to fill your stomach."
