Chapter 13 The Child's Identity and the Entrustment
Hearing the sound, Chen Qing turned her head and saw that the child she had rescued from the sea had woken up and was now looking at her timidly.
Perhaps because she is still young, she is not yet able to disguise herself well.
He clearly had a pair of fierce eyes like a wolf cub, yet he acted like a coward.
Having withstood the pursuit of the Black Knife Pirates and survived for so long while severely injured, she could never be a coward.
"Um."
Chen Qing glanced at her, nodded, gave a simple reply, and continued to focus her attention on the seven locked small boxes.
These locks were easy to pick, and Chen Qing was quite looking forward to finding the items inside.
The little wolf cub was bewildered by Chen Qing's reaction and stood there blankly, not knowing what to do.
Three days ago, she was just a lowly slave on the slave island, but now...
She hasn't gotten used to the change in her identity yet.
All her ruthlessness was directed at the scum on the slave island and her own kind. Facing someone like Chen Qing, she suddenly felt like she had punched cotton.
"Gurgle—"
Before the little slave could figure out what to do, her stomach started growling loudly.
"There's food in the kitchen."
Chen Qing pried open one of the boxes, inside which was also a thin piece of parchment, a pointer, and a map.
【Job Change Scroll - Navigator】
A job change scroll?
Chen Qing's eyes darkened, and he quickly pried open the other boxes.
Without exception, all these boxes contained job change scrolls and corresponding items.
Navigator – a compass and map; Doctor – a medicine box; Cook – cooking utensils; Shipwright – a toolbox; Combatant – weapons; Farmer – soil and a packet of seeds.
The poor sailor had nothing but a job change scroll.
Unfortunately, Chen Qing didn't have the Mechanic class change scroll he needed most.
There are seven professions in total. Chen Qing stared at these job change scrolls and fell into deep thought. She did not plan to add more people to her ship, so all of them were professions she needed at the moment.
I don't know what the upper limit is for a person's job opportunities.
Seeing Chen Qing squatting there motionless, the little wolf cub obediently took the bowls and chopsticks from the table to the kitchen to wash up.
She had something to ask of Chen Qing.
Chen Qing didn't dwell on the matter too much. After carefully storing the job change scroll and items in his room, he sat down at the dining table on the deck and began contacting potential buyers.
Having a private channel will make her next steps much easier.
Invitations were quickly sent to the middlemen, instructing them to bring in suitable customers.
Chen Qing would act immediately if a suitable price was available.
After entrusting the task of recruiting people to Qingxian and the others, Chen Qing once again focused his attention on the little wolf cub.
There's something fishy about the little wolf cub's identity; Black Knife says she's worth 30,000 goldfish.
How could an ordinary child possibly be worth this price?
However, such a skinny child could not possibly be of high status, and even if he was, it would most likely be something that couldn't be brought into the light.
Chen Qing sat down in the chair and began to tinker with her mechanical parts. Although the prosthetics used by the Black Knife Pirates' combatants were of poor quality, they were still lethal enough.
If he had encountered an ordinary survivor instead of Chen Qing, he could have easily killed them with that prosthetic leg.
Chen Qing plans to modify this mechanical prosthesis into a wearable exoskeleton.
At the time, in order to completely dismantle the combatants' fighting power, Chen Qing directly found the key parts and completely disassembled the prosthetics. Now it's a bit troublesome to reassemble them.
After fiddling around in the kitchen for a while, Chen Qing had already made some progress when the little wolf cub brought out dinner.
"Um... I cooked some vegetables using ingredients from the kitchen."
The little wolf cub placed the tray on the dining table and stood aside, speaking softly.
"Um."
Chen Qing nodded, then looked up as her gaze fell upon the dishes prepared by the little wolf cub…
She didn't know what to say about that dark, eerie mass.
Will this stuff really kill someone?
But looking at the child's innocent and ingratiating expression, and recalling the old and new wounds on her body when I cleaned and changed her dressings earlier...
Chen Qing sighed, stood up, picked up the dishes, went into the kitchen, and dumped them into the trash can without hesitation.
In less than half an hour, a delicious five-dish meal with a perfect balance of color, aroma, and taste was laid out on the table.
The little wolf cub was dumbfounded, staring at Chen Qing in utter shock.
Chen Qing looks like the kind of person who is extremely good at fighting and has an off-the-charts sense of security, but probably not good at housework or domestic chores.
The little wolf cub never expected that Chen Qing could cook even better food than the chefs on Slave Island!
"Eat."
Chen Qing placed a bowl of plain noodles in front of the wolf cub, next to a whole basin of noodles soaking in cold water.
The dishes she cooked were perfect for toppings. The little wolf cub copied Chen Qing's actions, scooped a spoonful of topping onto the noodles, and immediately began to devour them.
The delicious food went down his throat, and the feeling of fullness in his stomach made the little wolf cub want to cry.
She couldn't tell if it was because of the food or Chen Qing, but she knew that this was the first time she had ever felt such genuine tenderness.
"..."
The wolf cub sniffed and ate even more, seemingly trying to hide its weakness.
"that……"
After eating three large bowls of noodles, the little wolf cub stood at the kitchen door, biting his lip as he watched Chen Qing clearing away the dishes, and finally made up his mind.
"Can you take me to Sapphire Island?"
The little wolf cub asked in a low voice, feeling an indescribable unease in his heart.
She was terrified that Chen Qing might be a bad person.
"If you take me to Sapphire Island, someone will give you money."
She quickly added.
"Someone is chasing me."
She carefully observed Chen Qing's expression and spoke slowly.
"Like the Black Knife Pirates?"
To make washing dishes easier, Chen Qing folded up her sleeves and used a towel to wipe the water droplets off her hands.
The little wolf cub quickly stepped forward to help, putting the bowls and chopsticks in the cupboard.
"They were supposed to be protecting me."
"But someone offered a higher price, and they wanted to hand me over to those people."
"They broke their oath and were punished by the sea."
Hearing the wolf cub's words, Chen Qing knew that things were more complicated than she had imagined.
She instinctively reached into her pocket, but found nothing.
Tsk.
"you……"
“They say I am Moana’s daughter.”
The little wolf cub lowered her head, nervously fidgeting with her fingers; she knew what Chen Qing wanted to ask.
Moana, born in Barinia of the Deep Blue Sea, is a notorious pirate in both the Deep Blue and Crimson Seas.
He has made countless enemies!
