Chapter 100: Clearly Wanting to Promote Liang Weiyuan
The old woman took the order and left, and after a while she delivered the message.
"Mrs. Xie from the Taifu family?"
Liang Weiyuan found some impressions in her mind.
Old Madam Xie has known the old lady for many years. Not only does she come from a prominent family, but her husband is also the teacher of the late emperor and is extremely prestigious in the capital.
When such a famous person came to visit, the old lady asked her to go and greet him, probably with the intention of introducing him to her.
Liang Weiyuan agreed with a smile, looked at her overly plain outfit in the bronze mirror, and called Meishu.
"I'm going to welcome guests this afternoon, so please help me style my hair."
Mei Shu was clever and skillful, with a unique vision, and she carefully selected items next to the dressing table.
"Miss, Madam Xie comes from a prominent family and prefers elegant styles. What do you think of these?"
Mei Shu was holding a green jade hairpin with lotus pattern and emerald pearl earrings, and Liang Weiyuan nodded in agreement.
Her black hair was tied into a solemn and imposing bun. When the last pearl button was fastened to her moon-white wide-sleeved skirt, the person in the mirror had shed her usual plainness, and her eyebrows had become more dignified and elegant.
When she stood up, her cloud-patterned skirt stretched with her steps, like a peony blooming with every step.
The light green brocade cape she wore on the outside was as clear as jade and made her look gentle and graceful.
"What are you looking at?" When Liang Weiyuan turned around, she saw Huo Jinjian leaning against the door frame.
His eyes fell on her cheeks with a faint rouge, her face was beautiful and graceful.
He opened his eyes slightly, without uttering a word for a long time, but the surprise and admiration in his eyes were unfaithful.
Liang Weiyuan's ears felt hot from being stared at by him. Her clear eyes half-curved as if hiding amber as she smiled, "Why, you don't recognize me?"
"Mrs. Xie is an old friend of my grandmother's, so I have to dress nicely."
Huo Jin saw his Adam's apple rolling, and finally found his voice, but it was very hoarse: "It looks good."
She was just as eye-catching when I first met her, but now she looked even more dignified and graceful than usual, like the mistress of the house.
I looked at the sky and realized that it was almost time after spending so long getting dressed.
"I'm afraid that grandma will keep you waiting, so I'll go first. I'll give my husband a massage when I come back."
After Liang Weiyuan finished speaking, the hem of her skirt swept across his drooping fingertips, leaving behind a faint fragrance.
Huo Jin looked at her departing back, a hint of dark emotion that he himself was not aware of flashed in his dark eyes, and he unconsciously stroked the corner of his clothes that she had just touched.
"What a handsome figure!"
The old lady walked out of the yard with the help of a dragon-headed cane. When she saw Liang Shanyu coming, her cloudy eyes suddenly brightened.
He looked up and down at Liang Weiyuan, and a smile of satisfaction appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"This outfit has the grandeur of a marquisate, yet is also elegant and refined. It reminds me of my younger self."
Listening to the old lady's teasing words, Liang Weiyuan smiled and helped her up, "Naturally, it's all thanks to grandma's teaching."
The grandfather and grandson walked towards the mansion gate together, talking and laughing.
The old lady kept talking about Madam Xie's preferences. Liang Weiyuan listened attentively and nodded in response from time to time.
However, when they turned around the screen wall, they both stopped in their tracks.
I saw Yu coming out of the main courtyard. She was wearing a peacock blue skirt and a pearl hairpin on her head. She looked noble and it seemed that she had dressed up carefully.
"How are you, old lady? Wei Yuan is here too." Yu smiled and walked forward to greet her, naturally standing with the old lady.
The old lady's expression turned several degrees colder, and her sharp eyes swept over Yu, "Why are you here?"
Yu's carefully drawn willow-shaped eyebrows raised, and her face looked matter-of-fact and innocent.
"I heard that Madam Xie is visiting the Marquis's residence today. As the Marquis's wife, how can I not come to greet her?"
"We can't let outsiders say that our mansion neglects our elders." Yu said with a smile, and when she saw the old lady's calm expression, she snorted with satisfaction in her heart.
The old man kept the news a secret. If she hadn't heard the news when she went to the palace to invite an imperial physician for Huo Siyuan, she, the wife of the Marquis, would still not know about it.
It's obvious that he only wants to promote Liang Weiyuan and doesn't take her second wife into consideration. How can that be acceptable?
Madam Xie was such a noble lady, she definitely couldn't miss her, so she immediately rushed over with a thick face.
Liang Weiyuan stood quietly beside the old lady, taking in the new red gold necklace around Yu's neck and the exaggerated jade pendant on her ear.
The jewels and precious stones made the makeup on Yu's face look even heavier.
Even she couldn't help feeling a little embarrassed.
The old lady snorted coldly, full of displeasure: "You seem sensible now. Why didn't I see you being so polite a few days ago?"
Yu's face changed slightly. The old lady was referring to the matter of disciplining Huo Siyuan.
She feigned ignorance, forcing a flattering smile through her lips: "Mother, what are you talking about? I, your daughter-in-law, have always been benevolent and kind, and I dare not slack off in the slightest."
Before she finished speaking, she heard the sound of carriages in the distance. She immediately straightened her back and looked up.
The sound of wheels rolling over bluestone slabs came from far away and slowly stopped in front of the marquis's mansion.
The old lady's eyes lit up slightly, and she leaned forward, her anger turning into a smile: "Here I come, here I come."
