Chapter 40: Go and warn?
The little girl's fingertips were warm, which made Liang Weiyuan's eyes glow softly.
When the palace banquet ended, the Mid-Autumn moon had already slanted to the west eaves, and the red wall tiles were coated with layers of cold silver.
People who had left the banquet were vaguely walking out of the palace gate.
An Ning chattered all the way as she sent Liang Weiyuan to the palace gate, with a look of reluctance on her face.
"Wei Yuan, this is for you."
Liang Weiyuan stopped and saw An Ning put a sachet embroidered with lotus flowers into her palm, and the rouge-colored tassels gently brushed across her wrist.
The stitching on the sachet was crooked, obviously made by the little girl herself. There was also an oriental pearl in the lotus core, shining faintly under the moonlight.
An Ning said, "I made this with camphor and agarwood. It can calm the mind."
Liang Weiyuan couldn't help but look at him teasingly, her voice tinged with laughter, "Look at the style of this lotus, it wasn't originally supposed to be a gift for me."
An Ning's cheeks flushed slightly, and she gently pushed her, "You know it, and you're still telling me!"
"I hid for three hours to embroider it. Thank you for what you said to me today. This thing should naturally be given to you. I can't let anyone else get it for free."
An Ning was shy, so Liang Weiyuan stopped teasing her and gently put away the sachet.
"Also, your eldest son, Mr. Huo, will definitely get better. Just like you said, pine and cypress will always survive the cold winter."
The urging voices of palace maids could be heard from afar. An Ning finished what she wanted to say in one breath, took a few steps, and turned back to shout:
"Remember to come and play with me when you have time in the future, and I will come and play with you too!"
The moonlight stretched her figure out long, and her embroidered shoes stepped on the dew-covered blue bricks, leaving a series of marks of varying depths.
Liang Weiyuan only turned around slowly after watching An Ning go away.
Then she saw several people from the Marquis' Mansion standing in front of the carriage, staring at her.
Several people's faces turned red and blue under the lanterns.
None of them expected that Princess An Ning would personally escort Liang Weiyuan out of the palace.
Looking at the uncertain faces of the whole family, they all knew what happened in the main hall.
Huo Siyuan opened his mouth with a dark face, wanting to say something but Yu grabbed his sleeve.
"Father and Mother." Liang Weiyuan walked over without changing her expression.
"Wei Yuan, it's amazing that the princess values you so much. You must visit the palace more often in the future and don't be impolite."
Yu said something polite.
Liang Weiyuan also laughed: "Mother, you're joking. The household is very busy. If it weren't for the princess's hospitality today, I'm afraid I wouldn't even be able to sit still at this palace banquet."
There was a hidden meaning in these words. Yu gritted her teeth but did not dare to get angry.
Marquis Huo rubbed his hands, "We are all family. The princess is close to you, which is also a blessing for our Huo family..."
She has a good relationship with the princess, but she wants to get the blessing of the marquis's mansion?
Liang Weiyuan was really tired, so she didn't say much. She just said, "Father, it's late. We should go home early."
Liang Shanyu looked at the sachet on her waist with jealousy, and said nothing, as she and Huo Siyuan turned around and got on the carriage in front.
Marquis Huo and Yu followed.
Liang Weiyuan and her two maids sat in the carriage at the back.
"Miss, the Second Young Master's wife looks like she wants to eat someone."
In the carriage, Zhu Shu lowered the curtains and gritted his teeth, "Do you want me to go and warn her tonight?"
"No need." Liang Weiyuan leaned against the wall of the car and closed her eyes. "The more anxious she is, the more likely she is to make mistakes."
I'm afraid that at this moment in the carriage ahead, the whole family is restless, just waiting to get back to the Marquis' Mansion and make a move.
Just as Liang Weiyuan expected.
They soon returned to the Marquis' Mansion. The corner door creaked closed behind them, and the halo of the lanterns distorted everyone's shadows.
Before Liang Weiyuan could say anything, Liang Shanyu, who had been enduring all the way, suddenly turned around, and the bells on her emerald skirt made a shrill sound.
"Sister, before in the palace, I was reluctant to say anything in order to protect my family's reputation. Now I want to ask you."
"The eldest princess favors you so much, why won't you even say a good word for Siyuan?"
As Liang Shanyu's anger wore on, her expression became increasingly harsh, and her words became increasingly harsh: "The Huo family treats you well, yet you're only concerned with sending people to your parents' home. Have you lost your conscience?"
And as if it was pre-planned, no one was surprised by Liang Shanyu's sudden outburst.
Huo Siyuan immediately stiffened his neck and agreed, "That's right! The Princess can get Liang Zixiao to serve in the Imperial Court with just one word. If you had spoken, I would have gotten the job in the Imperial Academy long ago!"
Liang Weiyuan glanced at the two people's distorted faces and smiled softly.
The sound was clear and colder than the icicles hanging from the eaves in winter.
"Sister, have you forgotten how you offended the princess in the palace today, or how everyone talked about you? Or do you want the princess to remember the exchange marriage again?"
